I understand his marriage went to shit in an unflattering way, but I've never heard anything to imply he's something worse than a cheater, and even then you never know what really led a marriage to unravel or over what timeline.

My brother has been with his wife 18 years. She stopped sleeping with him a decade ago. They went to counseling, she said it was a waste of time. He travels a lot... He started to find his own fun.
She's not evil, she's not cheating. She's mega depressed and won't get help.
Obviously there's LOT more to this story I'm not sharing, but these are the pertinent bits.
I think this is a great illustration that life is complicated. They obviously still love each other enough to stay together. There is so much more to a relationship than sex. If he's getting his needs met and they can make it work, I won't judge. It's disappointing she won't get help but sometimes people need to hit rock bottom before they're ready to accept help.
Yeah, just because your personal life gets complicated at some point, it doesn't make you a monster. Some of the kindest, most open-hearted people I know are also the biggest, messiest drama-royalty you will ever see. Hell, the two may even go together since they both involve processing big feelings.
