Reddit is absolutely insufferable. I mean yes, that's true everyday, but especially today with posts like this.

Last time I checked there wasn't a vote on defunding ICE, much less ending ICE.

It's kinda gross how 2 white people are the only ones to be remembered this way but not one thought to the years and years of people of colour and marginalized people suffering from ICE and abuse from law enforcement. (which happened during Democrats' terms too!)

cracKKKer moment

POC lives never mean anything to white devil liberals. They'll still go on about how ICE is necessary to get rid of "illegal" and "violent" immigrants like that kind of rhetoric wasn't exactly what the republicans were doing and still do to this day. Death to the USA

well ice never killed anybody before the white folks

you mean never killed anybody it wasnt supposed to

I think it's more so those are fresh in people's minds, and especially caught on video. Alex Pretti's was pretty brutal to watch. Idgaf about white, he was helping a woman, he was helping vets, he was legit a good guy to be executed by his own gun iirc.

The death of one white person is a tragedy. The deaths of a hundred thousand POC are a statistic. Is that what you mean to say?

No, but see my other reply to someone else as I'm not retyping it.

I think it's more so those are fresh in people's minds

Then why isn't anybody talking about Keith Porter jr. or Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres or Geraldo Lunas Campos or Victor Manuel Diaz or Parady La or Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz or Heber Sanchez Dominguez who were all murdered around the same time or after Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti? Why didn't anybody talk about the 32 people murdered by ICE in 2025 back then? It's not as if that caused a massive outrage that was then overtaken when the Waffen ICE S shot Renee Nicole Good, it just did not make the news. Why would that happen? Do you think it might have something to do with the fact that all the other victims were black and brown people who are systematically unpersoned and treated as ungrievable?

Idgaf about white, he was helping a woman, he was helping vets, he was legit a good guy to be executed by his own gun iirc.

Literally nobody here is saying it was ok to pin Alex Pretti to the ground and execute him in cold blood. People are upset at the obvious double standard that tunes out the violence ICE does to nonwhite people and what that says about the sheer hopelesness of the situation when it's obvious that Democrats will not abolish this fascist institution as they should. The entire border regime of the US and the EU is mass murder, the shootings by ICE agents as brutal as they are make up the tiniest fraction of the hundreds of deaths caused every year by these policies.

It is very unfortunate it's uneven this way, and wordse so the media doesn't cover any of the other people. Personally, I don't do social media, I don't have ways of finding anything out outside of stumbling across them on Lemmy. I don't go looking online for bad news about what ICE does, or Trump, etc. I knew of Pretti bc I saw a couple videos.

I think the point the media makes is trying to undermine those "who are illegal" to turn the country against anyone Hispanic, so there's minimal coverage and minimizing them as humans to get the general public against anyone they see a different. The point is to create divide, and hatred, and cause a stir to keep us preoccupied with other shit so we're too busy to take action against the ruling wealthy class. We cannot let the media do this, we cannot give into the propaganda.

They had their chance under Biden but NOPE and now people are dead.

A real administration would pursue charges against both Trump and Biden/Harris admins. Where there isn't criminal corruption, there was criminal negligence.
