been looking for a community to write and discuss theoratical CS stuff. can I post it here?
there are other communities like: https://cs.stackexchange.com/ but don't know how friendly they are toward begginers.
Of course! Go for it. I don't know where you're looking at this from, whether it's a normal perspective or something else, but there are definitely good communities. But not Reddit XD
I'm somewhat of a scientist myself.
I guess I don't know what kind of posts you mean specifically, but yes, please do.
"Programming" can be and is typically interpreted quite broadly. It's not just "writing code" but development in general, and entails computer science.
Looks like this programming.dev instance does not have a computer science community yet, but I would love to see one. Cross-posting is possible too.
Tangential, there's !experienced_devs@programming.dev, but that's a different branch even if it can entail compsci.
I would love to see more practice or science or theory or hands-on posts in this community.
In the end, there's the option of just trying and seeing what votes and comments tell; appreciation or rejection.
Sure anything other than the 10th LLM discourse of the week.
What about my new AI powered B2B vibecoded delivery app start up idea?
Can you at least make it an AI powered B2B-coded vibe delivery app?
Of course they can't, they don't know how to code. Claude can probably do it for them though, but it's going to cost a lot of tokens for such a substantial rewrite.
As long it’s an intermediate platform that can milk the sellers and buyers with endless junk fees, count me in!
You have to subscribe to an api to access the customers and another api to access the location.
Not only yes, but imo, hell yes. I think a lot of what is missing from the dialog these days is talk about fundamentals. And all though that is for a reason practically (as things get higher level, we think of low level things less often), it loses out on some really fascinating topics. For example, how processors actually do cache, endianness, instruction sets, algorithms, etc., are all just fascinating topics to think about.
So my vote is, more of that.
Yeah this isn't reddit. We just happy people are talking. Especially if its interesting stuff like CS.
Most are glad to have any contributions, if worried, consider this a kind offer to use my community: !explicitsystems@quokk.au
Hmmm... idk... Do you have a permit?
In all seriousness, as long as the communities are small and there is low traffic broader topics and questions are totally fine. Only if there is consensus that something is "too much" and repeated off topic will it make sense to split off and fragment.
The fediverse is friendly enough that you can try first, and if you're overstepping someone will politely ask you to not do it again.
You got a loicence for that quality posting?
I don't see why not, but I see there are several computer science communities, maybe better post there. My instance's community search tells me !compsci@lemmy.world is somewhat active (by Lemmy standards).
!compsci@lemmy.world has 6 posts.
IMO, with so few posts, I would prefer a community here on the programming.dev instance, which is quite focused on programming/development. It would fit well.
Looks like there are two more existing compsci communities in the lemmyverse.
