velmaKathy Winter, chair of the Osceola County Democratic Party, released a statement slamming state Rep. Josh Turek’s ad declaring that he was against trans inclusion in sports and against “taxpayers paying for sex changes.”
“At a time of unprecedented hate and bigotry being directed at transgender Iowans, I cannot in good [conscience] vote for a man who is promising to make their lives worse,” said Winter, as reported by The Washington Post.
Winter also said she had already voted by the time the ad came out, but did not vote in the Senate race due to prior anti-trans statements from Turek. During a debate last month, he said he does “not believe that biological males should compete in female sports and this is something that has already been decided in Iowa,” referring to the state’s trans sports ban, passed in 2022.
“Dude could be talking about affordability, or data centers, or curbing executive power, or literally anything else,” one trans person on X responded. “But nah, go ahead, give legitimacy to the far-rights bullst boogeyman nonsense. Fking moron, stooping to their level.”
Any decent person stands up for liberty and justice for all, including trans and everyone. It's right in all those hallowed words people claim they support, but do bad in their deeds.
It drives me fucking nuts that so much of the hate directed at trans people is driven by sports. Sports! It's a FUCKING GAME! It's like saying people with hair shorter than 2 inches shouldn't be allowed to play Minecraft. You could even argue that short hair gives them an advantage by not obstructing their eyes or some shit: and even taking that (bullshit) argument at face value IT'S STILL A FUCKING GAME!

Like, their other boogeyman arguments are just as bullshit, but at least those take the effort to poke at something that sounds important like keeping perverts out of restrooms... I mean, until you fire off the six or so neurons it takes to see past that bullshit veneer and realize it's another example of 'the cruelty is the point' and there's not some horde of trans people staking out public restrooms to go rape that little school girl from the hate ads... but the folks who are too stupid to question those hate ads, I can at least see that they're being manipulated by being tricked into thinking they're helping the girl from the hate ads.

I'm a blue-no-matter-who guy (who also votes hard-SLA in primaries) but yeah, I've been watching Democratic candidates making anti-trans comments trying to figure out to whom they're appealing.
The folks who stand against trans rights also stand against liberal rights. MAGAs only believe in MAGA, and everyone else will go to the concentration camps (And then there will be no one to speak out when they come for you.)
When we exclude civil rights from anyone it leaves a flaw that will be wedged open by those who want to exclude everyone.
And so long as we have the ultra-wealthy, they will bankroll and support movements that are exclusive and hierarchical. So long as they exist, equality and democracy will be in jeopardy.

The problem with Blue No Matter Who is that the corpo dems and AIPAC Dems who coined that phrase didn't mean the no-matter-who part if it's progressives or anti-zionists.
Yes. We've been learning the brutal truth that moderate Democrats want the votes of progressives and SDA but not their opinions or positions. I end up holding my nose voting for them, as I did my state-governor-elect, but they're still way better than even the most centrist Republican, who is still going to pass budgets for ICE and concentration camps, and will still seek to dismantle democracy.
But yeah, we need change and no longer have the luxury of fucking around any longer, which means putting a lot of public pressure on them to push reform through.
Like Obama regarding gay marriage, their opinions can evolve if they see the way the wind is blowing.
We need democratic socialism.
We need to vote in the primaries.
Seriously, we do not need any more people in government who cannot understand the concept of human rights or that they apply to everyone.

Funny enough, in Minnesota one of the attack ads I've been seeing from the MAGA side has been targeted at the lieutenant gov running for senate saying that she's been the cause of prices raising in Minnesota. Not sure if anyone is buying that bullshit.

The race between Hinson and Turek is extremely close. The latest polls reported by MS Now show Turek at 47.1% and Hinson at 46.8%.
The fact that it's that close, makes me lose faith in voters. It's like no matter who wins, someone loses anyways.
