Guess a real bank employee would know that withdraw used as a noun is called a withdrawal, but fun story.

And then everyone clapped.

It sucked

What, was this before they invented bill counting machines?

At my bank they always count the bills out in front of you (after the machine has counted) in clear view of the overhead cameras as proof they gave you what you withdrew

Still. Hundred bills is what, a minute's work for a teller? Probably less.

Back when I used to work retail part of my job when I'd work closing was verifying the manager's count for the cash that we'd them have to walk across the street to the bank to deposit. So I'm nowhere near as good as a bank teller, but I got pretty good at counting out bills quickly. Even I could bang out that in like 30 seconds assuming all I'm doing is counting out a hundred ten dollar bills. If it's gotta go through a counting machine first? Yeah probably another 20 ish seconds on top of that?

It’s not real. It never was. People respond emotionally to this shit.

Even then, counting out 10 piles of $100 isn't particularly challenging, at most it really shouldn't take a teller more than a couple of minutes to count out.

Half a second per bill if you're still new to the job, 100 bills - less than a minute.

I love getting “revenge” on people who cause me mild inconvenience because their job forced them to

I think the revenge isn't about the cashier. The old lady found a loophole that got her what she wanted, in s way the system provides the cashier to comply with. The revenge is about the system

She could've withdrawn $100 instead of $1000 though

That person got paid, and the company had a loss of labour ten times the amount

The cashier's getting paid the same. If they were like waitstaff that get paid by the customer, it'd be a shitty thing to do, but for folk that are hourly/waged, it's still not nice, but not quite shitty territory, since you're not messing with their income, just time (and as someone that's worked customer support, I'd rather count pennies for 2 hours than deal with another irate "I'm angry because I can't read" ahole)

I love simping for shitty rules

Huh? This is basically malicious compliance, not simping

Yes, hassling the employee is fun isn't it? Asshole.

how dare she make him donhis job

no one cares what the company line is

If this is a "gotcha moment" it's dumb.
