It's magical

It seems like they do understand then
"So, I just went to this place and became part of their pack and they give me food, head massages and belly rubs every day"
My dog has severe anxiety and she came from a backyard puppy mill, my husband recused her and she holds him in such high esteem because of it, it's so sweet. It's like she never stopped being grateful to him as we are to have her in our lives.
Mine gives a tiny thank you lick every time we give him food. It's been 13 years now...
It sounds like your husband shopped for a dog, presumably a specific breed you specifically wanted, instead of adopting.
And completely regardless of the circumstances at the business you chose to purchase your specific animal from, you're calling it 'rescuing' to make yourself feel better.
Does it make you feel better to assume the worst so you can accuse others of being shitty?
Well they are the ones who said they went to purchase a dog from a breeder, so I didn't really make any assumptions. But I did suggest that the context of their circumstances that I'm not aware of are pretty much irrelevant.
And no, animals being euthanized without adoption or getting bred in awful conditions by terrible people with more interest in money than animal welfare doesn't make me feel good at all.
They used the words "rescued" which typically doesnt mean "purchased", so you are making assumptions and being intentionally hostile to a commenter.
All they said is that the dog came from a puppy mill, not the rest of the circumstances that led to their husband getting the dog. You assumed "came from puppy mill" meant "purchased from puppy mill" when it could have been seized from a puppy mill and that's how it ended up in s shelter, or another person could have been the original owner and the shelter had the dog's history and was able to say where it was bred.
You're assuming they used "rescued" in bad faith just to accuse them of using it in bad faith when it more likely implies one of the other options.
Some dogs understand adoption
I've seen them do this at shelters. It's so heartwarming to see.
I mean, the dog has never known freedom, so why would it care which slavemaster it has?
I’m pretty sure my dogs are my slave masters. I do their bidding 24/7.
Look I get where you're coming from but when it comes to dogs, we already have billions of them and they need homes. They cant just all be let loose, it's not feasible. The time to stop the problem was thousands of years ago, so it's too fucking late. Do your fucking part and adopt a shelter dog.
We can sterilize them so that the existing dogs we have can live their best possible lives but so this does not become an continuing and increasing problem.
...my dude pick a lane. Animals deserve natural rights and freedoms, okay no pets no forced sterilization. Animals don't deserve natural rights and freedoms, pets are okay and so is forced sterilization. You're in a wired middle lane.
My lane is dogs with jobs are a wonderful innovation and boon to humanity but those that are "just pets" are a social scourge needlessly costing us money and resources that could be applied to humanity as well as furthering the goal of the powerful of killing empathy and human connection by replacing our innate need for connection with a pathetic fascimilie.
You are severely discounting what the love of a pet can give you in return.
In a lot of ways, my dog saved my life. I genuinely don’t know if I would be here if it wasn’t for my dog.
My dog keeps me going when I’m having a bad day because they need me.
I’m a big proponent of a charity that tries to keep homeless owners with their pets.
The love of a pet can absolutely save lives and give people a reason to not give up on trying.
I'm glad you found purpose in the responsibility of caregiving. Truly. But that doesn't mean your dog loves you, I'm sorry. It is an animal whose entire existence is dependent upon you, and a child of a long line of selective breeding and conditioning designed specifically to perform for you. You chose your dog, your dog had no voice in the matter.
Also, after thinking about it, your argument isn’t really that different than a baby small child being preconditioned to love its family without the cognitive ability to do so.
Don’t love your mom? Well that wasn’t your choice. You were unfairly preconditioned to do so against your will.
My point wasn’t whether the dog loves me or not (he does). I was countering your implication that pets have no value and are a social scourge.
Your view point is incredibly narrow and shortsighted.
I love when people blatantly post insane and self-contradictory takes so I can block them and never have to see their terrible opinions in another comment section. Makes it nice and easy
This is such a weird (bad) take. Companion (pet) dogs do have jobs, for a lot of us. They offer comfort through hard times, help us get outside and exercise, stay on a routine, and they ARE empathetic. When I cry, my dog knows I am upset and comes to me. She offers me empathy, even though she doesn't understand what's wrong. It's not a substitute for human companionship, but it's way better than being alone entirely.
So you take issue with pet ownership as a form of slavery, but are perfectly fine with forced sterilization?
Super consistent.
Some people just like to be contrarian.
Ah yes, eugenics, the solution to slavery.
We are talking about dogs here, not people. Calm down.
Right back atcha, homeslice.
The hypocrisy runs deep in this one.
Yeah that's been done. It takes a while to have an effect.
To unhoused shelter dogs. A drop of water in the ocean.
Oh I see you one of those type of people. Endlessly complain about something that you know nothing about, and then when you're actually educated, you move the goal posts so you sound like you still have some sort of point.
I want to have a pet dog but neutering is a sticky subject for me. The reason for the why is obvious, but it's inherently morally dubious to do it. First, dogs didn't consent to be neutered. Snuffles is right to ask. And second, imagine humans are made pets by more powerful beings and we get neutered.
In nature, a new family is formed when two orphans stumble into each other's hunt and communicate well enough to hunt together instead of hunt each other. So when you adopt a pet, take it to your hunting grounds and don't kill it, it just knows it is now your family.

Aw man that got me choked up, what an adorable video
Thank you for sharing this masterpiece.
crazy to think the whole video is one uncut take with so many people getting their cues and timing perfect while walking backwards, including the cameraman, and if the grandma on the skateboard at the end took a spill then the whole take is scrapped
