Buffer zone shouldn't be in the hottest climates, too hot for procreation
In Asia and Mexico its a highly populous band, agree that in Africa it's the least. Warm climate and cold climate is just personal preference. No one wants scorching 50C. But 30C is not so bad if you know how to deal with it.

In principle yes, but we can make a stronger prediction: They're gonna cause a nuclear winter fighting over the buffer zone.
There would definitely be a disproportionate amount of violence in the men's side of the planet but I still think you're not quite giving men enough credit there - after all we're evolved for teamwork. Random group of men put together tend to naturally form a group hierarchy and pick a leader. Not always peacefully, though.
