Schools, prisons, like that one philosopher said.

Remember BLM, libs? Get the fucking COPS out of schools, not just their new favorite torture devices. Problem fucking solved.

Every school shooting since Columbine should tell the libs that cops in school don't do anything to help prevent shootings or mass death from them. At my school the primary use of the cops was to search lockers for weed. We'd have lockdown drills once a month where they would have a full squad of pigs with dogs sniff check all the lockers while we hid under desks and imagined getting shot.

There's a school for developmentally disabled kids in Massachusetts that still uses shock devices to this day. There was decades of lawsuits trying to stop it, but a judge put an end to them.

Then they renamed the school to "The Judge Rotenberg Center"

Parental rage directed at teachers and staff over their kid's shitty grades is what pushed at least 3 teachers I know to quit their whole careers in education. How tf are schools getting away with tazing students now? I assumed we'd have seen revenge incidents by this point.

Mind you, the shitty grades negatively affect funding streams for the schools. So the admin are more than willing to take the side of the parents complaining about their kids’ poor grades.

SA directed at teachers by second-graders with no support from the administrations is what made the two teachers I know quit. Both now make more money as a personal trainer and a bartender. Another one quit because of special needs bullying by the administration. He's a chef now.

There's an evolving dialectic between parental abuse of anyone encroaching on their property (children), and escalating state-permitted violence against children seen as justified due to the disrepect cultivated against educational authorities.

It's not just in school, either. Consider the dynamics of lumpenproles being directed towards reactionary politics to "protect their children" but in doing so justify the antisocial behaviour of said kids in the community. Of course, the state responds to with disproportionate force, rather than the social base of the dialectic, which just encourages further reaction.

It's hard coz that line is eaisly skewed towards Facebook esque repression of any youth expression.

To my understanding the primary end user is public schools. Because of “disrespect” or mass shootings (funny how these things have been reified, might as well be an eternal fact that students hate their teachers and a school in the U.S. gets shot up 3 times each week) new measures to discipline students are introduced. Cops with guns, systems for tracking students, draconian (racially scaled) punishments. It’s a toxic ecosystem and nobody wants to do anything but pour A) thoughts and prayers and B) Israeli counterinsurgency software.

I can’t find a reliable source but according to the Cato Institute (lol) only 6% of shootings happen at private schools. From everything I’ve seen, this looks like not just an attempt to discipline downwardly mobile children who know about climate/AI but also to create a failing institution which can then itself be blamed. Not the ones doing the cuts.

One overall trend would be that public school cease to do much more than half-socialize people. Instead of segregation where the poorer racialized students are in remedial classes, and the children of tech workers take advanced courses (this is specifically a reflection of urban schools) it goes back to different schools. The government remains in charge of a program to discipline and produce cheap labor, while proper education goes further behind privatization. Overall the idea of the U.S. as a “middle class” society erodes as people are overtly rather than covertly sorted into owners, small producers, and workers. When we look at the AI labor discipline project, it’s just another example of preparing for a post middle class US that hasn’t fully hit, yet.

I believe the synthesis would be to allow school staff to shock parents instead of children.

engels we got a winner

I imagine there's a pretty clear correlation between the two and

These are the same G.L.O.V.E. devices currently being distributed to ICE agents.

Thanks I was going to ask

Stuck said he’d heard from school systems that the shock gloves can have a deterrent effect too once students have seen them used.

“We get kids that once that school resource officer has put the gloves on, or they see that the gloves are on, they immediately comply without even touching them or doing anything. Which again, that’s a complete success for us,” he said.

Jesus Christ. They're fucking torturing kids and threatening the rest. They're also saying "we don't want to remove this low impact deterrent" as if what? re they threatening that if the gloves are taken away they're going to start shooting kids???

Literally saying out loud he views it as a success when his staff has abused kids to the point of showing a fawn response to the threat of violence. As if school wasn't traumatizing enough without people who get paid to physically abuse children with torture devices.

From the article, they believe that the gloves are a lower impact option than the tasers, batons, and pepper spray they are already armed with. Which they possibly could be, but that's not always a good thing. Tasers already have the problem that because they're perceived as relatively safe, people armed with them are more likely to use them than other weapons. Putting something extremely painful but advertised as safer than a taser in the hands of some of the worst assholes on the planet won't make the situation any better.

Anyway I really do think the proper way to deal with this situation is defenestrations all around. All these bastards straight out of a high up window.

We need a more humane way of electrocuting children

Lmfao. And bull Whips in the old folks homes!

What a joke of a country.

Millard Public Schools Superintendent John Schwartz.agreed with police that banning the shock gloves would remove a useful tool, even as parents continue to complain.

"How are teachers supposed to teach a class if they can't even zap the students"

John Stuck, a law enforcement veteran who also trains officers in the use of force, including the G.L.O.V.E., says the shock device is the least harmful tool carried by police.

"It's not so bad, it's less harmful than getting shot"

The device known as the G.L.O.V.E. — for Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter — is produced by a Kentucky firm, Compliant Technologies.

"The P.A.I.N.F.U.L, for Pretty Average Incentivizing Non-Fatal Utility Lash - is produced by ObedianceCorp"

Yeah. Pigs are always fucking doing this. "If you take away this tool, I'll just do worse." And libs eat it up. Despite the fact that the cops are self-reporting, right to their faces, about being violent criminals that can't be trusted and who will just threaten you if they don't get their way.

ObedianceCorp:
When they give you lip, grab the whip!
A family company

I want them more than out of schools, I want them out of life please. What the fuck is this super villain ass shit

As an upside, that seems pretty unsafe for the user as well. Get an itchy nose and reflexes take over, zap

Do not scratch your butt

Let me guess: Not once has that ever been used on a kid bullying the gay kid or the incel harassing girls and even many women teachers.

The new headline is The Onion: Moms try to get electric shock gloves out of their kids’ schools.

Creepy.

The device known as the G.L.O.V.E. — for Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter — is produced by a Kentucky firm, Compliant Technologies. Its maximum shock is 380 volts, the company says, much less than a Taser. The user manual recommends the G.L.O.V.E. not be used on “small children.” Founder and CEO Jeff Niklaus declined to speak with CNN, but in a video Q&A posted last month he said the devices were “safe and effective.” “Our products are tested for 35 pounds and up,” he added.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show average American 11-year-olds weigh more than 75 pounds.

I hate the US obsession with backronyms. It really highlights the 12 year old mentality of the people running these programs. It's even worse when it's applied to killing machines and torture devices

kids cat get a deterrent in chemical lab as well

Somehow every time I see a comment from a thelemmy club user it's Removed by mod

Always has been.
