MemesNot seen much wellness stuff, but most of the employee appreciation seems to favor the office people and not production. Sometimes it seems like the idea is to neg everyone at the “unskilled” and trade level.
My company don't even give me all federal holidays. FFS
I strongly believe everyone should have all federal holidays off and paid. I also think there should be at least one holiday per month.
This reminds me of the corporate trend of giving free Mindfulness classes, after cutting Health-Care benefits.
I swear my corporate wellness program is a data gathering company based off the questions they ask, the frequency of having to check in, and for how little money they kick back.
Contrast with an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Those basically help pay for private mental health counseling, clinicians for social/family issues, etc. Anything outside work that makes it hard to do well at work.
Especially during and after COVID I had several employees that lost family or were just generally mentally losing it. I was able to give them the corporate EAP URL.
For some people the fact that the process of getting an appointment with a clinician is corporate and structured (and at least partly paid-for) makes it easier.

We had heartless layoffs! You can use our virtual therapy service to get rid of any bad feelings so you don't think about quitting or unionizing.
What you say may be sent to HR to facilitate with the next round of layoffs.

a pizza party is hella cheaper than a raise, but it's paradoxically also much worse for morale to cancel a pizza party than to not give a raise.
