>Mr Oppen, I'm afraid to inform you that your creation, "Japmelter 3000 Megaladon Ultrakill" has been used in...an unexpected manner.
God this movie sucked.
I'll get down voted along with you, but yes it did. I didn't even finish watching it.
"They used it on a military base to show power and end the war ...right?"
It was sorta a military base. They did have POWs there.
I should have called it Phallogoria
Qwi backed off, straightening up again defensively. "Yes, of course. The Death Star was to be used to break up dead planets to allow direct mining of the heavy metals trapped in the core. The World Devastators would be autonomous factories combing asteroids or sterile worlds to produce a wide range of items without polluting inhabited planets."
Han snorted and rolled his eyes. "If you believe that, you’ll believe anything. Listen to their names! Death Star, World Devastator—that doesn’t sound like something for peacetime economic development, does it?"
Qwi scowled and turned her back on it. "Oh, what difference does it make?"
Americans will melt 4 million civilians in a foreign country and then 20 years later write a movie about how bad it made them feel.
I'm looking forward to the sequel "Afghanistan made me do it" and spin-off "Of course Iraq is involved, just believe me bro"
Excerpt from a GTA radio show that's a parody of Rush Limbaugh and maybe a little Alex Jones.
Y'know, I'm a man who believes in the American dream. I r-, I-I really do. And that dream is – I'm in charge, and if you don't like what I'm saying, then I'm gonna make a wise-crack, a-and drop a bomb on ya! That's it, that, for me, is the i-i-s the American dream, okay? And then maybe get a-a-a country artist to sing a song about it then have me walkin' around in slow motion. Th-Thats the fully realised dream, y'know then you could maybe make a movie about me doing that or we could do action figurines and then, myself making a movie about blowing the shit out of you while I make a wise-crack, y-I mean, the idea-the dream is endless. Truly.
greater toronto area or grand theft auto? i can see both
Pretty sure different people made the film. What, are they supposed to be proud so it's more fun to hate them?
I think the film would have been much "better" if we showed the horror and devistation that we caused. American media purposefully hides the death and destruction that we do, and paints ourselves as the good guys.
I really agree. For genuinely talking about the senseless horror of those bombings, especially the callous afterthought that was Nagasaki, I prefer Dan Carlin's podcast series.
On the one hand, yes, it's different people. That said, this particular movie specifically chose to hide the damage to victims and solely focus on the emotions of the man who enabled the tragedy. I'm all for stories of people trying to redeem themselves, but deliberately ignoring the victims was a bad choice, imo.
One gripe I have with the film is that none of it focuses on the poor, mostly Hispanic, population that lived in New Mexico at the time. These people had their land taken from them (their sole source of generational wealth) and died of horrific cancers post-tests. I think most of history just pretends nobody lived out there.
Here's just one article about it
Really?
...Shit, I guess I need to actually see this film before I talk about it. I assumed it was mere Oscar-bait and just absorbed information about it osmotically. I wasn't even mad at them, just thought oh, they found a guy who looks exactly like David Byrne, of course they wanted him for their Oscar bait film.
Those are not the choices I would have made if I was telling a story about the guy who built the bomb. I would have probably drawn a lot more from sources like Barefoot Gen, myself.
they found a guy who looks exactly like David Byrne
You may ask yourself
Why the big bomb?
They're not supposed to melt the civilians.
You're conflating the people who did that and the people who made a movie, if you want to throw a "nukes are a war crime" party I'm already on the guest list, but your comment reads like you're talking shit about people who don't like nukes and didn't nuke anybody, are you confused about that?
Yes. Americans. I'm sorry you're having difficulty with this.
Disingenuous username much?
I love your username, lol.
Pretty sure Christopher Nolan did not, in fact, melt any civilians.
He got lazy and used CGI. Directors these days, no sense of what makes a good movie.
Kubrick would have melted some actors.
War crime camo
it works for every country who's committed war crimes and human rights violations, too
No blue in the Canadian flag though. There's been a bunch of both coming from there.
I mean the netherlands.
Fair enough.
"Now I am become Seth, destroyer of girls"
Pretty much...
