Added Native Steam sleep with dynamic cloud save and wake...
PSA: there is no official website for DroidDeck right now. There is a malicious website pretending to be that. Do not download anything from it!! Only download from the official GitHub releases.
The info on the fake website might be useful, but might be inaccurate or completely wrong, or even malicious. Take it with a bucketload of salt, or not at all.
There is a note near the top of the DroidDeck readme about this.
Pretty cool, especially for android based handhelds.
Another similar project is Gamenative, which I've been using some. It's worked well in my testing.
In about two years there's going to be a workable way to play steam games on your phone.
Sad thing I don't think anyone running graphene or any privacy phones will be able to use it.
I only got old snapdragons 865, 845 and they perform better than a much newer pixel and it seems like anything worth while you need at least a snapdragon gen 2.
Don't you count the current solutions as workable? People have been playing Steam games on their phones since about the Steam Frame reveal.
Well before the steam frame, people where playing skyrim at like 15fps on game native like Two years ago. And not really playable there's a lot of toggling and fiddling.
I imagine it much more streamlined like playing on the deck. Where the average person that doesn't know what Linux is will be using it.
I think gamenative may hit your expectations, it's surprisingly smooth. Once you're signed in, your library comes up, and it shows you what games should be compatible (which is most of them, but doesn't factor in performance). There are community reported configs that work, so games will automatically default to proton versions/etc that are known to work.
It's been a while sense I've actually used it. Last I checked it was still decebtly solid but to get things run nicely pretty much every game you had to go in toggle a few things.
DroidDeck is not usable on my device, because developer does not support gpu in my device.
Gamenative looks interesting to try, but it requires signing into existing accounts and downloading games from there, but i would prefer to install games offline and manually, mostly because my phone is not very strong, so i can only run small games from something like itch.
You can point GameNative to any downloaded exe, I got it working with a binary I downloaded from itch
