The boomers are also bots, lol

15 years ago someone in their 50s showed me an obvious CGI of a ball bouncing around a bunch of musical instruments miraculously 'playing them' and they thought that was real... And later that year they thought they'd gotten a great deal by buying a fancy RV from someone in Japan for $5000 (shockingly was a scam). They are a frequent enjoyer of facebook today and probably not even the most easily fooled person that age that I know.

Aside from the majority being bots. Why would anyone comment these sorts of one word comments that don't add anything to the discussion? Like, what is the purpose of those?

Is it really that they think their opinion is somehow so important, it is imperative everyone else knows how they feel about a picture of a house? Do they also scream when their food at a restaurant is yummy? Or call everyone over to admire the shit someone left in the toilet?

My 83 year old grandmother with budding dementia watches nonstop AI generated stories set in pre-industrial times on YouTube, only second to court TV. She says it’s comforting, and she just wants to be entertained with content that feels like the same thing.

Does nobody curate their FB feed or use browser plug-ins to remove the garbage? Immediately “X”-ing unwanted ads, people, or pages keeps them at bay for a good while. Plug-ins like “social media fixer” will automatically remove “recommended” and any other unwanted junk you choose via phrase or keyword.

It can be usable and useful for when you want it if you take the time to fix it. I prefer it to reddit these days specifically because I can control what shows up on my screen, unlike reddit cramming in-line ads, suggested /r/ I don’t want to see, and …well, fuck spez for wrecking what used to be a cool place. Otherwise there is no point at all in using it.

The "boomers" are bots.

It's just bots all the way down

stunning

Those comments are AI. Not boomers.

Stunning

I dont think is far fetched that the average facebook user in 2026 can only write 1-2 words

I don't think it is far fetched that the average facebook user in 2026 is AI

Reverse Turing Test.

Same thing

badum-tsst

It's bots posting AIgen images commented by LLM bots
It's dead all the way down in SlopBook

Half the commenting accounts could be Ai.

Are you telling me that somewhere out there is an AI thot trying to scam an AI old man

There's never an AI old man. That's a limitless resource online.

And, believe it or not, the rest of the comments could also be AI.

Has FB been taken over by bots like Reddit? (I don't use either any more.)

It always was from the beginning.

Well that's just false. I used it in 2005 or so, and it was people I knew.

It was always run by a psychopath, but 2 decades ago it was really a social platform where you got content posted by people you knew. There is not much left of that.

Facebook is like ragebate for the old folks home.

Except the old folks home is really bots, and also the ragebait is bots. I don't like where this is heading, because it sounds like we're gonna have a lot of angry bots on our hands.

We need a AI tag on Facebook ngl

Just stop using Facebook. It is toxic, harvests mass data, conducts experiments on users without consent, and funnels money to an oligarch that is complicit in the destruction of democracy, the environment, and the working class.

And that's why I don't like it

true

Facebook has an "AI Content" flag. But I think it's just for stuff generated with their tools. And if there's text and an image, it doesn't tell you which part is AI.

so its partially there

Every trump ballroom render was genai, and not a single person on Lemmy flagged it either.

If AI provides the red cloth to an audience looking for a red cloth, they will see a red cloth.

Source? Not that I don't Believe you I just haven't seen this

Just pull up any of the renders, and look at it for 1 min. E.g. https://www.bdonline.co.uk/news/trump-administration-announces-white-house-ballroom-designed-by-mccrery-architects/5137422.article

And when were these posted on Lemmy?

Tbf, even if it wasn't ai it would still just be a render. Not worth looking at it that closely. Last I heard it was still a pile of rubble.

Boomers?

Haha, everyone I know that use FB are under 50...
