I'm not really doing any of this for the die-hards I talk to, I'm under no illusion that 15+ comment replies deep someone will have a change of heart. That's not how understanding works. However, seeing real pushback against nonsense liberal claims with actual grounding does help onlookers come to a more correct understanding.
Basically, the scratched libs will hate me and slander me regardless, but the more reasonable folk gain new perspective and may even come to the left in time. I'm aware that they are all cardboard decoys, that gives me a springboard to present a left perspective that's critical of reformism and explicitly revolutionary.
The few that truly despise me do so in direct relation to their inability to actually respond to my points. Thanks!! I hope you find it useful when you get to reading it. I was basically arguing against 2 Trots there that were linking a bunch of Trot analysis of the Russia x Ukraine war. I was worried at first because I thought I wasn't well read enough to engage with reading those analysis, but once I started I realized it was so bad and contradictory of itself that I instantly regained my confidence and went around looking for resources to back my arguments, I'm sure these might not be the best and there might be better sources out there, but I think I did a good enough job with what I had to find on the spot.
Yea I don't take the slurs seriously, it pretty much means they have no substance to bring so they go for trying to make me feel bad about myself. It's a sign of weakness, not strength.
As for feeling like you aren't well-read enough, there's no reason to worry! Just refresh your basics and you'll be good anytime you're worried!
I think that people actually do change their minds by these types of discussions. I grew up as a right-wing chud. But I was a true-believer, and wanted to see what the other side believed and why, so that I could convert them. So I started investigating....
Of course, it became clear to me real fast that I was wrong, and that I only believed what I believed because of indoctrination. I changed my worldview, and my life for the better.
But I don't think that would have happened, if not for online discussions like this. Discussions that, I don't believe I ever actually participated in. But I could generally see who was being honest, and who was arguing in bad faith.
So I salute you, and people like you who fight the good fight. Not all victories are visible.

Yeah no shit. Though it is much easier to be patient and get through to people with persistence when they have to actually engage with you face to face. It is much easier to simply ignore thoughtful responses like the ones you make and simply engage with anything but your effort posts as their eyes glaze over at the walls of text.
Like one of my neighbors is a cool guy but very trapped in a defeatist mindset that there is nothing we can do and the empire is all powerful. But over time I have been able to shift him bit by bit to understand how there are many weak links in the seemingly impenetrable armor of the state if you know where to look and that not everything has to start and end with armed struggle even though we know that will almost certainly be inevitable down the road as the contradictions heighten.
I respect what you do online enormously as well because a lot people, as you said, are just reading the comments and when they see well thought out counter-arguments to the bad faith nonsense and straw man arguments of online liberals who clearly enjoy enormous privilege and are scared of truly abolishing oppressive systems that afford them those privileges then more and more people will come around to our ideas and hopefully some of them will go on to get active in local organizing work.
