when I was in middle school I racked up over half a YEAR playtime in Minecraft and gave myself carpel tunnel. I only played Minecraft 1.8.9 which was at least 10 versions out of date by that point. I never even made anything I just played on Hypixel.
I did get full superior dragon armor in Hypixel Skyblock by spotting that you could buy a fish for 2 coins but sell it for like 20 coins if you craft it into bait because people are lazy. So I bought and sold millions of fish 2,500 at a time.
I later found that you could just craft dragon armor using shards and sell them on the auction house for about 100k profit and made BANK before other people caught on.
I loved finding those little market loopholes. Sad that nerds eventually caught on and made websites to automate it, and that the game went pay to win. Those were some good times though.
also hot take but dwarvern mines ruined the game. It's "SKYblock" not "infinite land block"
Man, all y'all playing games people have heard of. Filthy casuals with your "Warframe", "Runescape", "Minecraft", "TF2" and "Diablo".
I, a true connoisseur, personally spent my childhood sinking over 2000 hours into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (not to be confused with the far more popular and lauded Final Fantasy Tactics). It's the only Final Fantasy game I know of that has never been rereleased. The other game of my childhood was over 200 hours in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. The first video game I can remember playing was Final Fantasy II.

Now that makes me feel old. I played a bunch of minecraft, but abruptly stopped and never went back. When i played the beat gear you could have was diamond armor and diamond sword. The other day i randomly watched. a minecraft video and was like: what's all this?

Majority of the new stuff they've added is just new blocks to build with.

If you like creature collectors and putting together broken builds with an insane number of moving parts a la magic the gathering you will probably enjoy it.
Oh no. This game is dangerous to me, i can already tell.
If you enjoy games you can farm infinitely, theory crafting builds that make it so your NPC opponents don't get to play the game you paid for, making meme builds a reality, and collecting a bunch of lil guys it is going to be so dangerous.
It also has built in randomized and challenge modes.
Elite: Dangerous. 1300 hours and counting.
Frontier are an absolute shitcake of a company, and David Braben is a greedy motherfucker. The game is a mile wide and an inch deep, with some fucknasty game mechanics and grinds.
Despite all that and more, nothing I've played so far in my 44 years on this earth is quite as fucking cool an experience. It works well with all my simrig peripherals including the TrackIR, which helps the experience a lot I will admit. But still, it has it's moments.

Diablo II was my middle school life. I think I had eleven accounts full of chars? Eventually I learned how to set up bots, and botted while I was at school. I got home one day to a blue magic item that I thought was trash, and it turned out to be worth an obscene amount of high runes!

Warframe. Fun gameplay, and they're constantly expanding it with new game modes that each feel rewarding. And the story is cool
Almost felt it was gonna be Hypixel SkyBlock before even clicking, I also sunk like 4000 hours into it. Was fun though before it got ruined, 2019-2020 SkyBlock era was amazing.

I think you would really thrive in EVE Online, if you're looking for a different sandbox to pull off this kind of crap in. Your autist and autist-tolerant community awaits.
The game is so complex and nuanced that the learning curve is nigh impossible to overcome by yourself but it also means that the game is full of fun little interactions and opportunities for people to discover and exploit.
A lot of early game poverty, sprawling decision fatigue, and impenetrable mechanical complexity can be mitigated by knowing people, so if you do give it a try, DM me and I can infodump all about my special interest.

Everyone can spend too much time on a video game, autistic people who have a special interest in video games are way more likely to spend insane hours on the the games they fixate on.

The game is designed to be a grind-slog with the only benefit of seeing a number go up. I really don't get how everyone doesn't get bored out of their mind after playing it a couple of days.
Came here for that, and it totally fits the bill here. But I think I get why people play. Never had an endgame account and have not had a decently progressed account since eoc though, so this might not be it. But it's just fun how you can play in so many different ways and progress with everything being so interconnected. And you have a decent shot at much of the content without being completely decked out.
I think it’s the promise that you’re progress isn’t wasted in the next patch cycle that hits there lol

This was me with the Minions game on the Casual Collective. It was basically a flash MOBA game that no one knew about. At least people knew about RuneScape which I admittedly almost got back into last year.
Now THIS is the sort of "worst games" shit I'm here for!
Derping around on TF2 trade servers. Not even trading. Just not being in the mood for a competitive game and rather fucking around with randos.

I haven't hyperfixated in a long time, the last two were probably Terraria, Civ V, and Rimworld.
Me with warthunder. Im too dogshit for shooters, so ground RB is that but dependent on map control and smart positioning/knowlage of other tank armors. Air RB is so fun because its almost entirely about knowlage/positioning with a sprinkle of needing aiming skills/a good team
I just wish there was a better run game designed the same way warthunder is with both airplanes and tanks playable together. But for now Gainjin has my soul
