It's "Lo" not "Low." "Lo" is an archaic way of saying "Look!" or "Behold!" Whereas "low" is the antonym of "high."

I agree with your pedantry, (and therefore will also correct your spelling of disappears) but I have my own little headcanon that Lo is also the name of the main Christmas Angel:
