In my defense there are a lot of games in which I can play a white man.
In Saints Row, the clothing options are better for women, and fashion is a big deal. SR4 is better about men's apparel than SR3.
But then I played women a lot in my TTRPG years.

I remember starting Genshin and given identical abilities, I preferred to look at a female character for the first few hours. I don't project myself into games, I always feel like I'm playing the characters as themselves.

I do it almost all the time.
I even create female characters in terraria and they are not many pixels. heck I even did it on Littlewoods and that one is like 10 pixels in height. Not sure why this sounds curious to some people

Yeah, cis hetero dude here who always chooses to play female version in video games.
I almost exclusively play Project Zomboid (just like to play badass immortal survivor woman) and Cyberpunk 2077 (female V is just much better voice acting, and yeah, romancing Judy is canon, don't hate me).

Eh, depends on the game. I look at both and pick whichever one looks or sounds fun. Last few games I was a whole team of women in turn based games. Current game I'm a lone wolf male. Sometimes I find it funny making the cutest girl and whomping on enemies, othertimes I make an ugly old lady or man. Sometimes I make them look like me, or my wife, or one of my kids. Litterally depends all on my mood and whimsy at the time.
For me it's like if I want the character to be an analogue for myself, I choose a male and try to make them look like me. If I want the character to be cool, I aim as close to warrior princess as I can get.
I generally make my character male if it's a first-person game, and female in a third-person game if the characters are interesting looking. If I'm going to stare at an outfit and ass for 100 hours, I may as well enjoy it.

My wife still teases me for how I play stardew valley. I was in a grumpy old man "get off my lawn" mood when I made my character. Played through it and hated how completing quests bumped up your reputation. So, I made extra effort to give people trash gifts so they liked me less.
My character fishes, farms, explores caves, and is drunk whenever he's in town, and liberally gives out trash to everyone that he crosses. Everyone hates him and that's exactly how he wants it.
He since retired to the island as he finds the lack of people peaceful.

i have many characters, you dont know me, pay no mind to my soulsbourne legacy (especially DS2 where i started as a guy, but jumped in the coffin that changes that and decided to keep it)
Depends on what character I'm wanting to develop at the time, but yeah, a lot of my oc's are women (although not necessarily female). I like to use the game as inspiration for lore. When I played cyberpunk 2077, I already had a character named V who's a cyborg rabbit girl, so it was close enough to perfect.

The curse of being a woman online is that you're either seen as a squeaker, or as some mythological being that men don't know how to act around. Either way, they don't think you can play games
1000% some of the shit I've heard hopping into random VCs for whatever video game I was playing at the time was wild.
Legit caveman speak. I have an aversion to "white knighting" but would usually find a way to shut it down without making things weirder. Got pretty good at it over the years and ended up being most likely to be invited back to play later.

Ever since questioning my identity I began playing girls more and enjoying character creation for once. Before, I always just hit random and entered said game.
This was me. I thought I needed to conform my character to my gender and thus my characters that looked like who I was "supposed to be." When I finally let myself try girls, it was such an upgrade (although my characters still tend to look like my idealized self bc I'm boring)

I only did it once. I'd heard that the male version of the character had terrible voice acting.
Same here but with my GPS app, the female voice had this.. petulant tone so I changed to the better male one.

I just go with whatever looks better. Or if there’s total customization, I imagine a backstory and go with whatever fits the backstory.

I like to experience the widest variety of characters in RPGs, so I end up with one character of each race, one character of each class, and about half of them being female. My main is always a male, though.
