El-Sayed claims Harris “understood the challenges with the Biden-era policy toward Gaza going into 2024.”

Hasan Piker defended Abdul El-Sayed’s decision to campaign with former Vice President Kamala Harris, arguing the appearance could help the Michigan Senate nominee reach older Black voters. Harris is set to campaign with El-Sayed in Michigan on Tuesday.
“Bringing Kamala Harris in to stump for him, specifically to boost his approvals with Black voters, is a good thing… We want Abdul to win… This is not about agreeing with Kamala Harris. It’s not about her positions,” said Piker.
“The question always is: Do you want to win? And if you want to win, you have to do this. Okay? I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. I think it’s a good idea.”
The move has drawn pushback from pro-Palestinian critics who see campaigning alongside Harris as whitewashing her role as Vice President in an administration that continued supplying Israel with massive quantities of weapons to obliterate civilian life in Gaza for 15 months.
By the administration’s final week, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported nearly 46,600 Palestinians had been recorded killed as Israel’s siege and the US-Israel led campaign against UNRWA drove Gaza into catastrophic hunger. UN-backed experts issued warnings of a “strong likelihood” famine thresholds had already been crossed in northern Gaza in 2024. The area was officially declared in famine later in August 2025.
Harris eventually called for a ceasefire and greater humanitarian relief, but did nothing to break with the Biden administration's policy of unconditional military support for Israel, even as Israeli soldiers filmed and posted footage of their own atrocities in Gaza. The potential 2028 presidential contender has since said the administration should have put more pressure on Netanyahu, but has not repudiated its policy of arming Israel or publicly accused Israel of committing war crimes, despite ICC and ICJ cases.

Fetterman seems pretty cool. One of a very, very small number of people to endorse Bernie 2016 (even think he called himself a democratic socialist once, but idk if he uses the label anymore) already puts him in the top 1% of the Democrats. He's worth making some phone calls or knocking doors if you're not doing anything better with your time next year.

I love the guy and while he’s a lib, he’s less lib than he lets on. He was also on a Bordain episode and at a personal level he’s super compassionate. Very excited to vote for him and he’ll immediately be in the top 5 of furthest left current senators
That said, I support him 100% unless like Summer Lee jumps into the race. The alternatives in the race right now are Bidenite shit-libs. Fetterman is the most left guy in statewide politics in my lifetime.

The main thing that baffles me is that, even if you are in the frame of mind of ignoring morality and just assuming that he/his staff is just doing whatever is necessary to get elected, who is Kamala Harris bringing to this election? Anyone that has positive thoughts of Harris or opinions that could be swayed by Harris are the type of identitarian Democrat voters that are already just counting down the days to early voting so that they can vote straight ticket Democrat. There is no one that would think staying home or voting Republican is an option that likes Harris. She had to dropout to avoid losing her home state in the 2020 primaries for a reason.
Usually, you publicly associate with someone like her to reassure fascist donors that your populist rhetoric won't turn into any serious deeds.

It's crazy how much Biden's image was burnished by being Obama's VP. I always feel a little insane having to explain to zoomer coworkers that the entire reason that Biden was the VP pick was the worry about alienating racist moderates with a black candidate, so they were "balancing the ticket" by having the VP be the most racist white man in the Democrat party.

Yeah, I don't think it really had much of an effect in the grand scheme of things, but this is one thing the Onion apologized for that I think was necessary. Maybe it's just cope, but I hope that its simply a matter of thinking his message is going to go further in her audience such as it is, then her message will go with his reach. I can't imagine this working out for Kamala to help her appeal to the left or even progressives, but I can imagine centrists being soothed by the nice doctor who showed up with her
