Back in the 1990s, a colleague and I manage to get the “Performance Enterprise Network Information System” project endorsed and launched across a team of several hundred people. Someone remarked it was a bit of a mouthful. We were very proud.
Tbh I like the principle of an idea fridge.
It can be easily understood as something that is paused, and only paused, for a short period of time but then continued.
The rest I don't quite see the usefulness.
it's explicitly said this all was made up you're just guessing meaning where there's none
And like most things in my fridge it'll get thrown out in a week or so, when it inevitably goes off due to non-use. For some reason I feel much happier about throwing away food after it's been mildly chilled for 14 days.
Yeah, the idea fridge is where you put an idea you don't want right now but you feel guilty about throwing it out right away. So you let it sit in there until it has undeniably gone bad and you have to throw it out, but it's not your fault because you were totally going to take it back out but you couldn't have predicted that it would spoil. Oh well, can't do anything about that.
Maybe we can also have an "Idea Gym" - you'll constantly pay for the idea of using it in the future. You don't cancel the idea gym membership because you feel bad about losing access to the idea, even though the chances of ever taking up the idea are very slim.
I see you've seen our Jira boards. Please don't look too closely at the dates on those tickets.
Well, you can't sit on your own arse.
"Idea fridge" seems easy enough to get
Had a marketing co-worker (semiconductor industry) who managed to get C-level execs to use the phrase "tea-bagging" to refer to sending hardware samples to various reviewers or journalists. It was endlessly amusing to hear in a company-wide presentation. He was so proud.
I'm sure Nate's had other career highlights since then, but that was certainly an early success.
That man is a genius unparalleled
By Vectron's mighty talons!
Genius. I'd love to see the rest of this guy's idea fridge.
We don't use words because they mean something. They mean something because we use them.
Well, it feeds back into itself. It's vicious triangle.
Better put that in the idea fridge
context -> meaning -> usage -> context
It really is a triangle huh. Great idea we just had, whoever said that. I think this idea really came out of the room. Let's get this cooking on the front burner of the idea stove and infinitigon back around to it when we all have bandwidth.
I'm not entirely convinced, but I see the potential merit. Maybe let's just let that greased idea pig loose and see if a farmer tries to wrestle it.
We'll give this idea fox a day's head start before we release the dev dogs and go hunt it
Manager: This idea for the project is so fetch.
Manager: If it's not fetch then get fetch.
Programmer: Which repo are we git fetch ing?
Stop trying to make fetch happen.
It's not going to fetching happen!
I love how easy it is to change language
You can really just make up words, the more ambiguous the better, and people will assign meaning to them and start using them
Technically all words are made up

Gonna triangle back down the dusty ol trail...
I'm sticking that one in the idea oven.
Welcome to corporate life, where everything is bullshit.
