I can't wait until HarmonyOS becomes global.
?
I mean... yeah? US blocked sales of damn near every US component to Huawei. What else were they going to do besides not use US components?
The point here, which evidently went over your head, is that China now has the technological capability and supply chains to produce cutting edge electronics domestically end to end. No other country, including the US itself, is able to do that.
Oh good grief why are you always so combative? I'm well aware that it's clearly an accomplishment - but it's also their only option besides go out of business so I don't know what the US expected to happen.
Also erm... no, they aren't end-to-end domestically produced:
The South China Morning Post noted Huawei is reducing reliance on advanced foreign semiconductor equipment
More interestingly, while the Kirin is considerably less dependent on US or Western tech, it doesn't remove it from the equation entirely, and you still have to look closely at the bill of materials for receipts.
SMIC's process, however, still leverages ASML immersion scanners.
They're getting there, but if we go by what's in the article they don't have that capability yet.
I think every international company and government is corrupt. I hate and trust them all equally.
Not all governments equally bomb weddings, hospitals, schools and provide political and military aid to countries convicted of genocide. Some nuance is in order.
peak enlightened centrism on display
enlightened centrism (uncountable)
(derogatory, politics) Centrism that is perceived as condescending because it treats all positions as equally valid or flawed without engaging with their actual merits, often positioning compromise or moderation as uniquely rational and above the fray.
Usage notes
This term is often used by both the left and right to criticize politicians and media figures who attempt to equally appeal to opposing viewpoints so that they can maximize their support, in a way that is seen as unprincipled or overly cautious.
Not really the case here, or do you go by a different definition?
This company is currently embroiled in ip theft legal issues and it’s not looking good for them.
embroiled
Anyone and any company can get 'embroiled' in anything.
All it takes is accusing you of being a thief a pedo or whatever.
And there you have Brkdncr 'embroiled' in a pedo case.
This is nothing but the US sore losers using dirty tricks because they can't compete in the free market they love so much.
Always with this excuse or national security/espionage.
Pathetic
gives a shit about IP theft
Thinks it's not looking good for Huawei
Weird how this is not the case. You could begin by citing court cases and verdicts.
a lost redditor is currently embroiled in making a clown of themselves on lemmy and it's not looking good for them
In what way? There are lots of countries outside of the US
Not directly related but isn't this the same company who was caught stealing ip from Samsung on how to manufacture memory?
I'm not sure that matters. And it's not like US hasn't done the same in many cases too. I had an American friend who legit claimed US invented pizza
no
Imagine giving a shit about IP
So it only spies a little, not a lot? Phew...
