Today's Johnny_Arson California fuel update:

Get ready folks we are rapidly approaching the cool zone.
Johnny Arson, keeping a close eye on petrol...
10 may be an outlier but i saw 8 the other day
:calvins-dad-shining:
In the end, he dreamed small.
in theory, prices can't get worse
"The sign can only display up to $9.99" as if they can't just replace the sign with one that has another digit place
Never thought I would ever see American gas prices being higher than European ones. We are truly approaching the end times
These articles tend to clickbait the highest priced gas station in California that isnt representative of the average price
Yeah, I am no where near San Diego, but I am currently in California and the gas station down the street is still at $5.80. Because of the taxes that keep California fuel prices much higher than the rest of the country, it was just over $5 before the war.
"In theory prices cant get any worse!"
Oh, really, which theory?
The idea that they need to add an extra decimal place to accommodate a high whole number when in reality they will just retrofit the half cent place to a whole cent place.
Meanwhile they can just tape a 1 to the front of their sign
"PRICES PER HALF(1/2) GALLON"
Feel like I've heard of this before during the 70's oil crisis, and they just changed the unit of measure.
"what the fuck is a liter?"
It's Canadian for get me my fucking cola!
$9.99 for a baker's dram!
Displayed prices are in 1/12 of a bushelful.
Isn't it already 9/10 of a cent?
All the winning that was promised!
This stupid country makes it so I can’t even find solace in the possibility of there being some redemption from the right’s failures. The wrong people always end up getting hurt.
$20.28 looking more and more likely every day
If only
Also, thankfully I don't drive that much or use diesel
Unfortunately all the goods you rely on to survive are transported via diesel trucks. The gas delivered last mile is transported by diesel trucks. This is going to have massive economic rippling effects.
All the big stuff runs on diesel. Especially farming & mining.
:yea:
yeah, good news that 9.999 is the highest number.
Well there's a 0 on the keypad, so actually, $10 is the highest, it's gonna be okay folks!
Guy arguing that 18 is the highest number:
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Forced metric conversion to reduce list prices
There's that cutesy 9/10ths of a penny they add to all gas prices.
What if that just becomes the penny?
We already eliminated the penny because they are effectively worthless. Many stores don't even accept them anymore as they are not technically legal tender.
Gas stations still charge $9.999 per gallon, but no one is paying with hay pennies either.
$9.999 = $10. You can't just keep adding decimals and more 9s that is not how mathematics works.
No, move the decimal to the right. Increase from $9.999 to $10.00, drop the 1/1000th decimal place.
There are four digits on the display and they can just replace the 9/10ths of a penny with a penny.
Yeah that is what I was saying... And that is what they will do.
You said you can't, though?
You can't just keep adding decimals and more 9s that is not how mathematics works.
This is what I said. Adding decimal places implies adding more numbers past the 0.01, so 0.011, 0.0111
Those are effectively the same number when it comes to how monetary values are rendered. When you say moving the decimal to the right you are talking about removing decimal places which is what they will do.
Adding a decimal place means adding more places after the decimal, not moving the decimal to the right, that is reducing decimal places. If you move the decimal to the right enough times you are eliminating the fractional decimal altogether.
In a theoretical sense, yes you can keep adding more decimal places but that is not changing the effective price just making the number on the sign larger in terms of physical space to accommodate more digits. Back to my original statement $9.999 = $10
This is because REPUBLICANS are SOCIALISM!
-Republicans I guess!
I briefly thought this was a GTA screenshot
