Name it after Obama instead. That'll piss him off.

Ottawa Councillor Riley Brockington, of River Ward, said he plans to work with residents to rename Trump Avenue—a residential street in the Central Park neighborhood—following the city's October election. He described the street's current name as an embarrassment, CBC News reported.

"Taco Avenue" is among the suggestions received, Councillor Tim Tierney told CNN. The proposed street name references an acronym coined in 2025 that means "Trump Always Chickens Out." The shorthand became popular online following the president's threats to implement steep global tariffs.

"I think the time has come when you look at the damage and carnage that the president has caused, including with our own country," Brockington said. "We're past the point of debating."

Personally, I think they should just rename it Ontario Avenue. Taco still gives him the attention he craves.

You really want to get under his skin, name it something like Martian Luther King Avenue. Jut get on the old racist’s nerves.

Martian Luther King is a whole different kind of race

Street of Hormoose.

Epstein Ave?

Mmm, tacos. 🌮

There's a Trump ave? Dudes! Soray paint the shit to something else!

Oh boy. The suggested names are just people having a giggle. I don't think they are expecting this to be reported as serious because these people very much understand how road renaming occurs.

The council passed the tariff motion, but the measure does not mention Trump Avenue or formally begin the process of renaming it.

That's because this is not how roads get renamed. Council has to approve but it doesn't start with them.

This article from a reporter who covers municipal politics wrote an article that includes some info on how it's done (50% + 1 of the households on the street need to agree.) https://www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/article/its-an-embarrassment-ottawa-councillor-vows-to-remove-donald-trumps-name-from-residential-street/

Cities can make their own rules about naming streets (unless the province steps in). The city of Ottawa has a review process that needs to occur to assess if a street can be named after a person: https://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/city-manager-administration-and-policies/policies/administrative-policies/commemorative-naming/commemorative-naming-policy

One of the rules is that a street cannot be named after someone if the name will:

Convey, in the City’s view, a political or social advocacy message that could, offend, anger, or insult a third-party by way of its strategic location, timing or other factors that detract from the positive intent of commemorations.

Bonus hilarious example in an unrelated rule:

consists only of the individual's legal names (for example, "Jean-Paul Gagnon" or "Mary Jane Smith" is acceptable; "Big Daddy Gagnon" is not)
