I was in a meeting planning a large corporate event. A chef was there discussing food options and how they were having trouble finding a kosher meal provider but they have a work around until they find a final solution. Me and one other person both looked up and made eye contact, but no one else reacted. I had to pull the chef aside and ask him not to use that phrase when speaking about kosher meals.
Im a process chemist and we often actually form solutions at the end of a chemical process that are unfortunately deemed "final solutions". There's not really a way around it since it's the most technically accurate way to describe what we're dealing with

I remember in the 1990s when I was fairly young, and I was having a discussion with other people, and I kept saying the Republican Party was a fascist party, and I remember one of the people in the discussion taking me aside afterward and telling me that I couldn't say that(not because it wasn't true, but) because people would get offended.
I remember after the September 11 attack, that they named the department for the country's security "The Department of Homeland Security" and I had extreme concerns about their intentions by naming it that. I could see what they were moving toward, even back then.

I'm not from the US but my understanding is that the way US history is taught in schools and sometimes even colleges is heavily whitewashed and romanticized. Pupils are also repeatedly taught "allegiance ... to the republic, one nation under god" (how dystopian). It is very difficult to accept that your entire understanding (and thus love) of the country you live in is at best heavily doctored and at worst just a total sham perpetrated by the elites.
