Neglecting roads between factories making ballistic missiles, introducing red tape in the zoning approvals for a drone R&D complex, degrading local golf courses and airport capacity so that it's harder for local MIC offices to recruit business VIPs, etc.

They made flight sticks for the GameCube. Innocent Aces: Sky Crawlers on Wii is basically an anime Ace Combat spin-off and it supports GameCube controllers. I think that is yet another AC game that is playable with a flight stick (outside emulation shenanigans that render a lot of my 'gaming input/out what-ifs' pointless).

I love my mom but every time we talk about work and stuff I have to find new and unique ways to explain to her that I'm not interested in spending every single waking moment of my life earning money and I really just want to spend the minimum amount of time working so that I can buy food for me and my dog and pursue my hobbies and even stuff like my plan to add more certifications to my resume is really just me pursuing ways to reduce the number of hours per week I have to work to make just barely enough.
The good news is, the more you make a practice of deserting the forces of capital, the easier it becomes to work less and get by.
I know a fair amount of people who work less than 50 hours a month and get by on that. Over the past 10 years, I've worked what averages out to maybe half-time, and within the next 5 years, I hope to achieve the elimination of any necessity of working for someone else ever again.

I got married last night.
My partner and I have been living as though we were married for over a decade but haven't had the actual marriage license for various reasons. I'm going to have good insurance soon, so it makes sense to get married so my partner can be covered
We got married online by a service that uses the 1 county in the US that allows it. The guy who did the service was actually amazing. He seemed genuinely happy for us, didn't try to push any kind of particular process or religious stuff, and actually got a little teary eyed at the end.

We're also both cheap! It's basically the entire reason we did this. It's going to save us $200/month just in insurance premiums and will save us far more on out of pocket medical and dental costs.
We didn't get rings. We did buy engagement rings 15 years ago, but we almost never wore them so it doesn't make sense to do that again.

2 easy things to make a movie better: opening credits over a theme score that leads into a prolonged ending im an inciting incendent and then dropping a title card before moving on. Did a spontaneous hair coloring. I had a full on super bright silver going, I lesrned how to mix my own hair dye snd kinda crushed it. Anyway, I tried doing the bottom layer of my bangs with the red hair mask I got in case I fucked up the silver. It came out amazing, I look so much like sn anime character. So im extending it to the full left side and back. I have at least a fee thousand people's dream haircut, silver the hedgehog with shadow style red highlights snd shaped like cloud from ff7. Cut and dye your own hair folks, it's legit not even hard and you can really make it your own look. I have fantastic hair for fucking around with but everyone could stand to customize their style more. Making cooler clothing out of thrifted and trashed clothes by learning rudimentary sewing and applying stencils before learning to screen print helps too. DIY mentality. You can learn anything

Syrups are like...super easy to make. Simple syrup is equal parts by volume water and sugar, heavier syrup is more sugar. Simmer the combo with whatever you wanna flavor it with for like 20 minutes or so. You can dial it in to your own specific tastes and its pretty fun to mess around with.
Ive made simple syrups, these ones are flavors that aren't easy to make at home
I have a friend who casually makes syrups and recently made a good lavender one. Maybe I can try to convince them to make a catnip one next.

The nearest Walmart has taken all the lettuce out of its wraps and "pinwheel" wrap slices. The prices are the same and they are still selling the Taylor Farms salads and stuff. But they took the lettuce out of various products and replaced it with nothing.

it obviously sucks as a server but hot take: windows server is a better desktop os than the normal desktop versions (at least it was when i tried it a couple years ago)
That makes sense, I would hope/expect that the server version wouldn't have a lot of the deliberate end-user-predation stuff that the desktop version has.

i only use this because at some point i was convinced that active directory was something i would need to know to get entry level IT jobs (prob still is, but i've moved on to learning other things after cooking up the most basic AD setup)
what prompted this post was trying to log in with the admin account, but being told i have to change my password (how i learned that it has a default password expiration policy of something like 60-90 days). ok fine, but when i try to change it it says "the password cannot be changed at this time" meaning i was effectively locked out since the only other accounts i made don't have admin privileges. even tried a couple more times, but i eventually gave up and stepped away to tend to other things. but after like an hour i came back and tried to change it one more time and it worked, so hooray i guess 🤷♀️

I live in off campus student focused apartments, though I'm not a student. I have three roommates. Over the summer, when the main classes at the university are out, I often have no roommates. Falafel is the greatest food thing ever. In a wrap, dipped in stuff, just by itself, cheap, easy af, delicious. I used my work skills and kitchen scale to figure out the food cost for each falafel wrap I mske at home. It is like $1.50 per wrap. You gotta spend in bulk, but chicken pea flour, spices, veggies to pickle all last. For things that expire its hummus or garlic for the vegan garlic sauce I make using chickpea juice,the fresh veggies and the pita bread. There is a really big lebanese presence foodwise in my city that has been aroind long enough that there is a local pita bakery that does damn well and has a huge shelf of their misshapen or old ones outside the bakery every day, i could happily live off falafel and veggies in a pita for every meal I ever eat
I used to live near a Greek place that would make falafel burgers. They were so good. I also discovered there that tahini sauce mixed with ketchup is a delicious dip for fries.

This was an outlier. People can be a little harsh on each other off-the-cuff here and there, but I don't observe a persistent hostility. Also a lot of our users have been here for 3+ years and have sorta harmonized themselves with each other over time, while this user came on the scene (after some of the growing pains) and burned up within a handful of months.
I just thought it was worth remembering.

this is what i ended up getting done today. i drew the pattern grids with a heat soluble pen and the edges of the aida cloth is all taped up. before i wouldn't really do full coverage cross stitch but now i really like it. it's just super satisfying filling in all the little squares bit by bit... but yeah it's all ready to go now!

Their reverse proxy service is really awesome. Very easy to deploy. You used to need a third party identity provider but now they have an embedded one.

Don't you need to point Netbird at your public IP address? Meaning you're exposing all your services, just blocked behind Netbird as to whether they're accessible? Pangolin lets you point it at your internal IP so that nothing ever actually leaves your network if you just want to use a domain to make it easier for family than remembering ip:port numbers. Tailscale and Wireguard can also be local-only.
I tried to use Netbird 4~ months ago and it didn't seem to support using an internal IP for domains and only worked using the public IP with the reverse proxy.
Netbird Reverse proxy is for exposing internal services (think your local jellyfin) as a public service. You can run the proxy on any server you want and it routes that traffic to wherever it's actually hosted over wireguard tunnel
You can always just create appropriate internal networks within netbird and have it direct traffic to your local services internally. No need for reverse proxy unless you want non netbird users to access it as well.
