beeting expectations

Love how socialist media fills itself out with "check it out another one of our quality-of-life projects is outpacing the five-year plan" instead of sensational freak-crime stories to make you suspicious of the neighbors.

I mean... They don't have twitter do they? This is purely aimed at shaping outside perception of north korea, is it not?

Which like, you may feel it is an accurate portrayal and reflects actual success of the ideology but it is still, at least to my understanding, neccisarily outwards facing propaganda vs internal media

I do appreciate focus on functional things that dont just seek to alienate you from others though. The "PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS" news in the western world and especially America is fucking exhausting. I feel like you articulated the way that shapes peoples perception really well. I'm painfully bad at brevity and you captured the idea very succinctly

We had an AMA with a North Korean political staff member on Hexbear lmao

You're correct in that they don't have X the everything app. But there are sites that serve similar functions for quick digital dissemination of news on the Kwangmyong, they're more similar to old school forums/BBSs and chat rooms

There are ways you as a westerner can view internal DPRK media(through third-part aggregators such as Koryo.tv for state tv and radio broadcasts) and compare to see the clear difference to the sensationalistic outlets that thrive elsewhere for yourself

These kinds of stories are circulated internally too. Showcasing workers demonstrating how under socialism their efforts cumulatively improve domestic life even when under sanctions and siege can be very heartening.

kcna making liars of us all

Sugar beets are the best, they be processed into molasses (and can additionally be processed into ethanol), can grow in temperate climates compared to sugarcane only in tropical climates, and their leftovers can be used as a better alternative for salt for icy roads.

I have been praising the sugar beet for decades now. It is a fantastically useful crop.

What do you mean by leftovers?

From what I understand it a kind of beet juice that is from the process to convert it to sugar.

Interesting! And thats effective for de-icing?

It is down to -25F or so, but I think the exact numbers vary

My partner (-25F) and I (-30C) are trying to depress the freezing point enough to serve as an effective pair of de-icing agents. Are our thermal properties sufficient?

ESH Everyone Sublimates Here

Thats so fuckin cool!! (Hah, cool, a cold pun)

they said it couldn't be done

i well remember the winter days when the darkness got the better of my family as we sat by the fire. we used to speak of the futility of sugar beet harvests in north korea. in our darkest moments, we saw no hope for the future.
