I'm not a Deck Guy and the camera lens is distorting it but the distances between those supports just look obviously off

I don't think it was the outer supports that were the problem, but the fact that there wasn't proper support on the building side. Like the way it pulls away it looks like it was just nailed to the siding instead of having any kind of structural support.

The supports do look like they're probably too thin for the role they're serving, but the spacing is probably fine.

I'll be impressed by the Marshals when they start going after real criminals.
