Also, (correct me if I'm wrong it's been a while) as far as revenge arcs go he was rather chill about it. He didn't spend every waking moment building a giant board and investigating every angle. He picked a job that introduced him to a lot of people high and low and just looked for people with six fingers.
Like... I've seen less healthy coping mechanisms all things considered...
He devoted himself to becoming the best swordsman in the world and spent years chasing the six-fingered man. But he found nothing and became a depressed alcoholic. The years of anticipation crashed down on him like a pile of bricks. Vizzini gave him a job and sobered him up
If they killed your father, then they're probably going to kill someone else's loved ones.
So killing them is saving lives.
Tell that to Batman, I wouldn't mind seeing Gotham after a year of killing all the big bad guys.
Gotham is literally cursed. Nothing a Wayne does could ever fix it.
That's highly speculative, maybe your father killed their father, and you are simply perpetuating the cycle by becoming a killer yourself.
Edit: I went to look up how often murderers kill again, and at least on datapoint is this US conference proceeding stating that among almost 57 thousand cases studied only 0.82% went on to kill again.
That's why you gotta get 'em while they're still young. Close the circle.

Honestly I wish I had an emotionally supportive dad so that I could fully understand this sentiment, but as things are I can only appreciate it from an artistic perspective.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful he's still around. He's grown up in a lot of ways, but in many ways he's still the same and I've had to just learn to accept that he'll never be the father figure I always needed...

I guess I've missed out on the anti revenge narratives. I feel like most series and movies these days are revenge narratives. Not my cup of tea personally, but I understand why they are popular.
The Last of Us 2 was a big one that pissed people off.
Those people are stupid or lying.

Im anti death penalty almost exclusively because its cheaper for tax payers to keep a prisoner for life than it is to kill them. I also dont trust the state to dish out punishments with our fucked legal system.
I do believe, for example, the super hero "i never kill" trope is incredibly misguided and pretty much objectively stupid, especially in the case of Batman, but thats my rampant (formally diagnosed) autism

That last bit frustrates me to no end in various media. It’s part of why I hate Marvel films. You have these people already dishing out vigilante justice but killing the mass murderer/genocidal maniac is “lowering oneself to their level?” I’m sorry but at that point it’s your duty, lest you’re complicit in their next genocide.

Batman is brutal, and IRL most of his victims would end up with varying amounts of brain damage.
Many of them would die, really, some in the spot even. A single punch in the face is enough to kill.
I get what you mean, although there's no such thing as objectively bad people. What is bad depends on culture.
I can name a few dozen that make their way through the news cycle with war crimes and crimes against humanity weekly.
Even if i was less woke, its pretty obvious that stealing millions of dollars just to hoard it is objectively bad
