My weekly preamble is in spoiler tags below.
::: spoiler preamble It's once again been a relatively slow week, with "only" quite a few oil tankers being struck in the US's attempt at an oil corridor in Hormuz. I've seen several analysts speculate on just how leaky Hormuz might be despite Iran's attacks, and if it is leaky, then why and to what extent. Now that we're firmly in August, we have noticeably passed the predicted July ETAs on the physical oil cliff (the paper oil price manipulations notwithstanding), and so analysts are trying to find explanations for the current situation, in which various factors are being considered, of which I'll list a few I've seen personally.
First is, as I said, a potentially leaky Hormuz, because it's been revealed that in lieu of official corporate insurance, the US is directly paying captains massive sums of money if they're brave enough to try and run the strait under US air cover - hence why Iran keeps hitting tankers practically daily without them ever seeming to get the message. Obviously, this covert operation by itself would not be enough to even approach pre-war transit levels, and so there must be other factors going on. Second is Red Sea oil redirections predominantly by Saudi Arabia; if this was a big factor, it's something Ansarallah is now actively combatting with their blockade of the Bab el-Mandab and semi-regular strikes on their pipeline infrastructure. Third is that perhaps world oil reserves are somewhat larger than first considered, especially given China deciding to go on a bit of an oil diet over the last six months, and especially especially if countries really start pumping from one-shot emergency supplies; e.g. there's been much discussion by Naked Capitalism about just how much the US could extract from the rapidly dwindling SPR if it no longer cared about the irreversible damage to the storage caverns caused by pumping out as much as physically possible. Fourth and finally, perhaps the data on stockpiles was just bad in such as way that they were being consistently underestimated by e.g. 10% or so. Ultimately, regardless of the many complicated factors involved here, the antsy and indecisive behaviour of the US, as well as some anxiety about the midterms, betrays any attempts at American confidence (e.g. by Bessent) about this becoming a stable situation for even the medium term.
We've also seen some of the fruits of the serious discussions between Iran and Oman over how exactly Hormuz is going to be governed, with one major and intriguing proposal being that Iran could have total control over what vessels enter (i.e. tolling when entering), and Oman has partial control over what vessels leave, with Iran having a veto there too (i.e. no tolling when exiting, but de jure Iranian military control). Iran has come out and said that regardless of what they agree to with Oman, the US will have to make major concessions - at least on the order of the MoU concessions and perhaps even beyond them - for Hormuz shipping to restart. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkiye have signed some kind of military alliance or agreement of some kind; I'm waiting for some big expert analyses on the many implications before I give any takes here, but it's already been dealt a rather large embarrassment by Ansarallah seeming to not really a give a shit, continuing strikes on both Saudi pipeline infrastructure and also Saudi-backed mercenaries.
And finally, over in Latin America, the Southern Spear Joint Task Force has given way to a new version which looks likely to increase inland strikes, which is a major escalation from the strikes targeting mainly fishing boats, which were presumably done to a) cause socioeconomic fractures in certain countries (largely Venezuela), and b) further the kayfabe that the US is trying to stop drugs entering the US while obviously covertly further amplifying it through friendly comprador countries. While Latin America struggles to find its way forward out of American regional hegemony due to the rather mixed results of both electoralism and warfare (guerrilla and otherwise), what greatly interests me will be how the region's domestic capitalists respond to the attempts by the US to wean them off from China's growing economic sphere. I've wondered previously about whether a potential way out of imperium, in lieu of the ability of the region's working class to take (and, more critically, hold on to) power, will be China, intentionally or not, causing major fractures between the US capitalists seeking a monopoly to loot the continent as much as possible with the absolute minimum domestic development possible to maintain profits, and domestic capitalists who want to trade with an ever-growing China and internally develop their countries for their own self-benefit. :::

Iran has Trump so shook and scared right now he has to have a AN/TWQ-1 SHORAD air defense system with a AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar follow him around as he golfs. lmao he is scared to even be outdoors anywhere at this point.
This change in protection posture has been evident since his trip to Turkey. Seems like the Israelis are putting the fear of God into Trump with by reporting intel to him claiming he is in constant danger and using Iran as an excuse. Masterful manipulation by Israel if true.

🇺🇸 #US: President Donald Trump was seen golfing at his Bedminster, New Jersey club with a missile-defense system deployed nearby, as F-16s were scrambled to intercept civilian aircraft that entered the temporary restricted airspace over the area. NORAD said two general-aviation aircraft were intercepted and escorted out of the restricted zone while Trump was attending the LIV Golf tournament.
force the Americans to waste even more air defense assets with this one weird trick!
also, this wouldn't be a problem if just golfed in an underground facility (a "golf city" if you will), but if you build courses underground you don't get to occupy a bunch of valuable land and dump gajilions of liters of water and pesticides for rich people's toys, which kind of destroys the point of golf for them

NYT reports that Iran shot down the F-15E in April using only recon drones and a shoulder fired AA missile, tactics learned from the war in Ukraine
the article specifies shoulder-fired to refer to the type of weapon like a Strela or some other stinger-type of SAM, but doesn't say if it was actually fired by a soldier on the ground.

Annabelle Loma has spoken with her husband only a few times since he attempted to jump overboard from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during his current deployment. Loma, who lives in San Diego, said her husband had been repeatedly overextended before he tried to jump from the carrier.
In a separate incident aboard Lincoln, a sailor on watch saw a shipmate preparing to go overboard, and he intervened, according to the sailor’s wife, Maria Rodriguez.
Separately, Stars and Stripes reported Tuesday that sailors described an incident in which watchstanders stopped a crew member from jumping overboard. Stripes reported that the crew was informed about the incident through a shipwide announcement.
The Navy has said Lincoln’s leadership is continuously assessing sailors’ psychological readiness and that the carrier has access to counselors, chaplains, medical professionals and other support services. The Navy did not provide a precise number of sailors who have attempted to go overboard or engaged in self-harm aboard Lincoln during the current deployment.

Honestly doesn’t seem that hard. What are they doing, shouting “I hope no one stops me” and looking around?
is this a suicide attempt or are they doing it from closer to the waterline than i assume/i'm misunderstanding how high above the water the flight deck is?
It’s a suicide attempt, which is the number one cause of man overboard incidents in the US Navy year after year.
attempted to jump overboard from the aircraft carrier
It’s not unusual, the leading cause of man overboard incidents in the US Navy is always this, as opposed to accidental MOB.

ICE plans to give officers gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks
ICE plans to spend up to $20 million to purchase thousands of “conductive distraction and de-escalation devices” for officers and agents by March, according to a notice published Monday by the Department of Homeland Security. Seems like story was leaked through WaPo and NYT, just obvious limited hangout shit. In the real world, it’s the US assassinating key Iranian officials, not some unclear unconfirmed plot against
It doesn’t match with Iran’s strategy. You can’t just do that. You can’t just do that in a NATO country, even Turkiye.
Is it NATO funding stuff? Did some DOGE guy hatch this? Probably nothing really.
Tired of hearing about it honestly. Kind of sus how much footage they have of the truck itself.
The Turkiye-Pakistan-KSA alliance was set to include Egypt but they leaked some false info they were fed to test their trustworthiness. Some people were speculating that the alleged plot may have been that intel nugget.
Btw, the "Lindsey Graham Bill" that was already passed by the Senate and gives Trump a lot of power to unilaterally impose sanctions on other countries also seems to extend Iran sanctions through 2031. So the SoH can't open before 2031.
Hot take: US wasn't going to deal anyway. Trump might care about the optics of cheap gas but Congress is ride or die with the zionist entity.
They don't care about high gas prices (especially after the midterms) and restricted supplies mean record profits for western oil companies in the meantime as well as more western control and blackmail of countries into deeper subservience to the US over the remaining global supplies which are mostly concentrated in US/NATO or vassalized countries (Venezuela) hands or through neo-colonialist control using western corporations. (This is necessary for building the world bloc to challenge, isolate, and destroy China in the new cold war)
::: spoiler long rambling The Gulf states will build pipelines and alternative export terminals to bypass the strait if needed. Zionists were never going to withdraw from Lebanon anyway short of Iran bombing most of their country into ruins (something Iran would never dare get close to doing because the zionists would themselves nuke Iran far before that, which is another reason why not having nukes when faced off against a deranged, genocidal, fascist settler colony backed by the entire west and with a whole religion in its pocket has its drawbacks). US sat through the OPEC embargo rather than dropping support for the zionist entity in the 70s and cars were a lot less efficient then, there was no work from home via internet, and US production capacity and financial advantage to its corporations and bourgeoisie was much much less than now. Zionist entity's importance has also only grown as has the amount of blackmail they have on the US (evidence of a cyber "samson" option enabled by zionist intelligence operative run tech companies penetrating western tech ecosystems to the deepest levels with back-doors so they can just turn off the whole economy if US defiance is too great or their existence in peril).
If anything it will also prompt closer ties to the zionist entity which are desired in the US and the entity via exploitation and development of Palestine's oil field in the sea there. They may also have the idea that they can keep Ukraine in the fight for years, a decade more (even as a rump state) sending drones deep into Russia to blow up pipelines to China and thus with other sources cut off or under US control already slit China's throat by cutting off their last source of oil, plunging their manufacturing economy (not a car thing, petro-chemicals thing) into free-fall and forcing them to bend the knee in subservience (ala Plaza Accords) or just isolating them and turning the screws to attempt to get them to crack by immiserating the people of China to turn them against the government
There's also the possibility of deep sadism of the US intentionally accelerating oil and gas development everywhere in order to accelerate climate change because it stands to be a prize-fighter gut-punching the global south, China, European rivals, and working people everywhere who are increasingly seen by some elements as a dangerous revolutionary risk and liability with what they believe is a roboticized, automated, AI enabled future with minimal human workers and guaranteed loyalty. Meanwhile US compared to just about any place on earth that isn't Russia stands to weather climate change really well with livable temperatures through most of it and farmland that will mostly remain productive or viable.
Iran hasn't lost but I'm not sure it can win either because it can't deliver a knock-out blow its opponent cares about. It may be the only deal it can get is a weak compromise from the US that returns to close to the pre-war status quo with maybe fewer bases nearby but sanctions still gnawing at them. So if Iran wants a deal they realistically will have to accept zionist continued invasion and occupation of Lebanon (and the weakening of their only remaining major regional ally in Hezbollah and expansion of the greater pis-rael project), continued sanctions, no restitution from the US, limited and unofficial facts-on-the-ground subject-to-change base closures in the region instead of real withdrawals (and probably a bunch of work building bunkers and hardened structures in those within 6 months of any such deal), and perhaps the US will let them charge some minor toll fee on inbound vessels which are mostly Chinese cargo which Iran will have to exempt anyway and maybe empty tankers for a while which will be valued at some tiny rate compared to a filled tanker.
If Iran refuses this well get ready for more expensive everything sometime after the mid-terms as costs to move food to stores and from fields to factories go up with increased fuel costs, same with any and all consumer goods including imports from China. Overall devastation for the consumer market but maybe that's the plan anyway? Since most spending now comes from the top 10-20% of earners it doesn't matter as much if the proles cannot afford things and by making things expensive, destroying the mass production market you weaken and hurt China and push forward decoupling as people are no longer buying goods from them anyway (industrial supply chain entanglement is a bigger problem but suppose they believe they can fix that anyway and do friend-shoring).
Or maybe (and I'd like this to be the case) Trump has no plan, US is run by utter fools with no plans and somehow the economic pain of oil price shocks will force a compromise that's humiliating to the US.
I think there's too many headwinds against it and I think Congress is a big impediment because you'll never convince enough of them to back down until hours before the US military leading a mob arrives at the capital to carry out a revolution. Really the chain to pull here is the zionist one as they can probably scream and plead and squeal loud enough to get the zionist congress-people to actually pass humiliating bills in the name of standing with the entity. But I'm not sure what Iran can do there to really hurt them as US dollar infusions prop them up, they're protected from international law, and they're deranged genocidal fascist demons with nukes. So I just don't see any easy way out. It would be one thing if Trump were a dictator and could just bend the knee all on his own for his own sense of preserving the nation and industry and he hadn't the attention span to get veiled zionist threats towards him. But he's not. :::
Hmm, well Graham really wanted to get Iran "done". If only he were still around to see what he's getting done

It is now projected that the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore won't be rebuilt until 2030. Iran has already rebuilt every bridge we bombed.
tbf, I think the Iranian bridges were a lot smaller, but still
Apparently shit gets built fast when private companies are not involved.
(it also won't be complete by 2030)
It'll be replaced with hyperloop tunnels with a max capacity of 1
I basically don't believe the USA is capable of this kind of infrastructure project anymore.
Yeah, agreed. I think the bridge is never rebuilt. Huge amounts of money will be poured into private consultants and contractors, but the bridge will literally never be restored under capitalism.
The US isn't capable of much at all. Even the MIC, with all the billions it eats, can't seem to produce anything new, hell, not even maintain anything anymore. Its all been consumed by the obsession for profits. Fitting that the empire is being consumed by the system it championed for so long.
Profit isn't even the right word anymore. We're in one of those batman stories where the joker gets himself elected mayor and makes crime legal
it's not as big and it hasn't been rebuilt, it's been repaired because most of them only had a small collapsed section or holes in them. the truly destroyed ones won't probably be repaired for a few years at least. trust me iranian civil engineering should not be your barometer for efficiency even compared to the US.
Crimea bridge has been bombed several times too and is always back pretty quickly
I think the Crimea bridge is a lot better comparison. They built it from be in just two years or something. That is the time the US would spend just to find out who gets paid to do the over-optimistic renderings of what the finished bridge might one day look like

Somehow I'm sure that they will go to great efforts to ensure that none of the "men" housed in women's prisons are trans women.
oh i’m sure they’re blaming trans people for this
They'll put people who are actually men into the prisons and then when they start assaulting women they'll portray it as if it's the trans folk doing it.
surely they'd not be doing coed yard/meal/shower/etc times and this would be using an otherwise vacant cellblock and there would never be an opportunity for anyone to do anything.
right?
I think the British media will straight-up blame the women prisoners for putting themselves in prison due to being of poor character. They never miss an opportunity to punch down.
Does Britain have the same horrifying culture of prison SA jokes?

Host of the Summit, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, appealed for greater integration among Mercosur countries.
::: spoiler Article
Asunción — Paraguayan President Santiago Peña praised President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) during the opening of the 68th Mercosur Heads of State Summit on Tuesday morning (June 30).
In his speech, the host defended the need for integration among countries in the bloc , highlighting the Workers' Party member's role in this process. He also said he admired the Brazilian president.
“ The vast majority of us here will be passengers, except for President Lula , the only one who has become a permanent figure over these 20 years. And I celebrate all his experience and publicly acknowledge the admiration I have for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and I always ask him to be a force for integration in Mercosur,” he declared.
Peña also highlighted Lula's importance in the negotiations of the agreement between the South American bloc and the European Union . He lamented the Brazilian's absence during the signing of the treaty in January in the Paraguayan capital.
“Today, I want to recall something I said to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva: if there was anyone who could close this deal, it was you, President of Brazil, and that's what we did. We regret your absence in January; we would have loved to have you there. You were the only one missing so we could all celebrate together,” he emphasized.
During his speech, Peña also defended a fair division of the quotas from the agreement with the European Union . The treaty provisionally entered into force on May 1st, but the distribution is still a point of contention within the bloc. :::
I guess the US promised money and nuclear deal aid didn't arrive in Paraguay, so the Colorados went back to begging Lula for money.
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei:
‘Iran’s message is clear: The Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the U.S. ends the war and blockade, releases Iran’s frozen assets, and agrees to a region-wide ceasefire, including in Lebanon and Gaza. Until all conditions are met, the Strait will remain closed.’
- Middle East Spectator
amerika fucked up in the most unique and colossal way. Strait was open and they went and fucked around. This is like the Suez crisis on steroids.
and agrees to a region-wide ceasefire, including in Lebanon and Gaza. Until all conditions are met, the Strait will remain closed.
Pretty good, but they need to require Israel to completely pull out of Lebanon and Gaza, or else the slow annexation will continue.
They may realize that's not going to happen. The zionists will never bend the knee, will never stop and America will never force them to. Morally I'd hope they'd hold out but realistically I don't think they'll ever get a deal if they demand withdrawal. Best they can probably hope for is no more advances by the zionists which will either be temporary until in 6-12 months Hezbollah carries out a major operation and the zionists get moving again "in retaliation" or mean Hezbollah accepting the occupation for the sake of not enabling this. Both bad choices.
Frozen asset release is I believe something Trump can do fairly unilaterally without congress so possible, blockade can be lifted by Trump also unilaterally so also possible, ceasefire also seems possible. Compared to their previous demands the US within the constraints of its zionist-beheld political system could plausibly agree to these terms and possibly to a less written down term of scaling back operations at their nearby regional bases though likely not formally closing and withdrawing from them.
Iran's choices may be between this continuing and the US shrugging it off as China and other powers like India grow angrier and angrier at Iran for the energy price shocks that devastate their economies and quality of life for their people with no definite end in sight or accepting some sort of compromise even if it isn't a permanent deal just so both sides can walk away.
I really fucking hate that China gets mad at its ally instead of its enemy. So much pressure on Iran for an unjust peace, so little pressure on the aggressor
thats probably irgc tho, not the deal makers, no?
Head of the Security Council now, and undisputed representative of the Supreme Leader since he recently forced him in through a messy transfer. So I would say his word carries a lot of weight
If the deal makers can't get the irgc on board, there is little they can do.
Also, the U.S. basically killed all of the deal makers who had any real sway with the irgc. Real own goal there.
how deep can they dig?
is it safe to say they're compromised yet?
Government, yes. communes and popular power is currently in very, very critical support. Always has been but sometimes more and sometimes less.
All revolutions are compromised until capitalism is defeated. Even China has elements within their political system that are hoping to push them backwards. The fact that a weak country like Venezuela is in the range of US domestic bases and still lasted this long is a testament to the mass movement being relatively established compared to the majority of socialist attempts that have already long been defeated
Agreed. Also, both China and Russia have diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime (sadly, in my view). This, in itself, is not proof that Washington controls Venezuela.

Is there any precedence for something like this? This is just downright comedic.
In Colombia? Yes, besides Petro and so lib presidents, most Colombian presidents love to bootlick the US and Israel. They compare the ELN and FARCS to Hamas and the PLO. President Andrés Pastrana was close friends with Epstein and appears multiple times with photos with both Epstein and Maxwell, I think Epstein even brags about being with Pastrana and using mortars to shoot at villages of "rebels". Alvaro Uribe worked against the UN to help Israel.
The Gaza Flotilla Inquiry (formally known as the Palmer Committee) was a UN-appointed panel established on August 2, 2010, to investigate the events of May 31, 2010, when Israeli naval forces intercepted a convoy of six civilian aid ships (most notably the Mavi Marmara) attempting to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip. The raid resulted in the deaths of nine Turkish activists and sparked an international diplomatic crisis.
Chaired by former New Zealand Prime Minister Geoffrey Palmer, with former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe serving as vice-chair. Israel historically boycotted UN fact-finding missions (such as the Goldstone Report). However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to participate in the UN Palmer Committee specifically because Uribe, a trusted, staunch ally of Israel, was appointed as its Vice-Chair.
As a principal author of the final report, Uribe ensured the committee’s final text officially concluded that Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza was both legal and appropriate. This gave Israel a massive international legal victory that directly countered accusations from Turkey and the UN Human Rights Council. The final report integrated language stating that Israeli commandos faced "organized and violent resistance" upon boarding the ship, a conclusion critics argued heavily favored the Israeli military's version of events.
In 2012, Álvaro Uribe sued a rival senator for allegedly fabricating testimonies linking him to illegal paramilitary groups. The Supreme Court reversed the case, finding evidence that Uribe’s own team was bribing jailed witnesses to lie. After years of legal maneuvering and resigning his Senate seat, Uribe faced a historic criminal trial in 2025. In August 2025, a judge found him guilty of witness tampering and sentenced him to 12 years of house arrest.
In Colombia?
Oh, I mean throughout all of history. I'm just baffled by the extent so many countries all around the world are willing to bootlick Israel even at the expense of their own citizens.
I suppose Europe's relationship with the Vatican for much of its history would be somewhat similar.
Rise of Evangelicals is part of it
Never forget that Evangelicals in the US financed and had ties with the terrorist organization, Southern Lebanese Army.
The South Lebanon Army (SLA; Arabic: جيش لبنان الجنوبي, romanized: Jayš Lubnān al-Janūbiyy), also known as the Lahad Army (جيش لحد) or as the De Facto Forces (DFF), was a Lebanese Christian-dominated rebel paramilitary organization founded by Lebanese military officer Saad Haddad in 1977, during the Lebanese Civil War.
The SLA hosted the Christian radio station Voice of Hope (established and funded by George Otis, founder of High Adventure Ministries). Beginning in 1982, the SLA played host to Middle East Television (which was also established, funded, and operated by High Adventure Ministries). Otis gave Middle East Television (METV) to Televangelist Pat Robertson, founder of CBN. On May 2, 2000, Middle East Television relocated to Cyprus.

French socialists rule out alliance with center-right - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Paris, August 11 (Prensa Latina) The leadership of the Socialist Party (PS) today rejected an offer from the French center-right to organize joint primaries, in order to have a single candidate for the 2027 presidential elections.
The head of the PS, Oliver Faure, dismissed the initiative of former Prime Minister François Bayron, who believes that it would prevent candidates from La France Insoumise (LFI) or the far-right National Alliance (RN) from having candidates in the second round.
“What François Bayron does not understand is that the French people do not want to prolong the presence of the central bloc, with alternation between them, but without a real option,” the PS general secretary wrote on his X network account.
Last Sunday, Bayron told the newspaper Le Figaro that he supported the idea of a large primary for "all those who reject the extremes," alluding to RN and LFI, which the press here labeled as "far left."
According to the top leader of the Modem party, it would be a "catastrophe" if candidates from radical groups were to advance to a second round in May 2027, the television channel BFMTV highlighted.
Faure's idea of holding primaries for the PS, the ecologists, and the LFI dissidents ultimately fell into the minority within his own party, as the criterion for a closed socialist primary prevailed.
For the upcoming April elections, polls generally place RN leader Marine Le Pen with about 36 percent of voting intentions, followed by former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, with almost 20 points.
A third position is held by the leader of the LFI, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, with almost 17 percent, and lately the very active former head of government Gabriel Attal “crashed” into the first quartet, with 15, BMFTV points out. :::
More than 180 dead and 1,300 injured in Colombia after earthquake - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Bogotá, August 11 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Capital Cities of Colombia released its latest report today, stating that the death toll from the earthquake that struck the country yesterday has risen to 181, with 1,310 injured.
In its official channels, the organization detailed that of the total deaths, 72 are from the city of Pereira, 95 from Cali, nine from Manizales and five from Quibdó.
He also released the breakdown of the injured: 103 in Quibdó, 174 in Armenia, 885 in Cali, 78 in Manizales and six in Pereira.
There are still reports of dozens of missing persons, many of whom are presumed to be under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
Search and rescue efforts for survivors continue in the aforementioned cities, the hardest hit by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the most intense to occur in a decade, according to the Colombian Geological Service. :::
Colombian President Abelardo de La Espriella appeared smiling and waving at a press conference about the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia. His insensitive demeanor was reminiscent of a Jair Blsonaro, former Brazilian president who openly mocked the victims of COVID-19.
This is a wonderful post but it's not news, please repost in the general mega
Bird news is still news
Oops, thought I was in the general mega thread. Sorry
Not news ( but I came across this Aoteroan initiative where they translate farsi and arabic articles into english, mostly from al-sifr. 2 I think are interesting are
- a 3 part review of Ali Kadri's unmaking of arab socialism
- an article about the u$ occupation of Venezuela being about the petrodollar and keeping China-Russia-Iran-etc out, not production itself. Which helps explain why afaik there hasn't been much investment? They don't want to develop productive forces of their colonies, lest they get idea of sovereignty.
Venezuelan oil is also incredibly difficult to refine.
Good point, in the context of Venezuela it really feels like a black poison that's more of a curse than an actual productive force.
Al Rifaq is an excellent project.

I'm going to repost this here as well:
Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia decide to give Egypt the false Intel very recently that they passed immediately to the US.
US had strong beliefs that Iran was going to kill Trump by shooting down the Air Force One.
The US then loads the Air Force One full of journalists, and then puts Trump on another plane home.
lmao the Comprador Ummah are the ones who scared Trump and got him hiding in a food cart? That's hilarious.
Control+F and Replace “Israel” with “Iran” to every assassination report prior to Trump reading it.
I doubt that Iran ever really wanted to assassinate him. They are probably playing the Gul Dukat speech from DS9 on repeat at the IRGC headquarters;
A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness.
I'm also thinking of that unspecified misinformation that the Egypt government was fed recently as part of the Turkey/Saudi/Pakistan defence agreement negotiations.
Iran would gain approval in the US if they kill Trump. And the street protests supporting the revolution have been demanding revenge...
My dude, even Rachel Maddow would want the entirety of Iran to be glassed if that happened.
The USians are bad, my dude. Forget any sympathy from them.
nah, even the biggest anti-trumpers would immediately line up behind vance and bring back the good old post-911 hysteria
100%. It would immediately vaporize all domestic opposition to Trump. Because the thing that unites the majority of the US population, the common interest which USians share with Trump, is the perceived safety and isolation from world events and material conditions more broadly.
You see, news is something that happens in ontologically foreign lands. The US is not Foreign, therefore it is not possible for Foreign things to happen here. (And to the extent that they do, it’s because of immigrants, who according to the white supremacists, are like a pathogen that has made it inside and has to be excised.) In this way, virtually all Americans, including the entire Democratic Party, share a certain class consciousness with Trump.
The current situation is good in the narrow sense that people are slowly associating Trumpism with loser mentality, in the same way that kids gradually view their parents as losers. But even the most bitter child will discover an affinity for a parent who dies under malicious circumstances.
I've been thinking a lot about the way so many American governments over the past few decades have tried to use economic sanctions as weapons to force other countries to bend to their will, on the basis of "make the people miserable for long enough and they will overthrow their leaders". We all know that doesn't work wherever they've tried it. But what if American politicians keep trying it because they subconsciously realize that it's exactly the right strategy to use against America itself?
Lol no way
Iran would gain approval in the US if they kill Trump
The average yankee liberal literally the second Trump is killed: "Two things can be true, he can be a gay shit bag I hate for being gay with Putler, and I can RESPECT the OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT who doesn't deserve to be treated badly by FOREIGNERS"
We had the potential of President
Algeria has provided Niger with military aid:
Algerian authorities have transferred a total of four Soviet-and Russian-made helicopters to neighboring Niger – two Mi-24V helicopters and two Mi-171 helicopters – along with ammunition and spare parts for them, the press service of the Algerian Ministry of Defense reported.
Algeria decided to transfer the helicopters to Niger free of charge "to strengthen the fraternal and historical ties between the two countries." According to the statement, with this step, the North African republic "confirmed its intention to continue its efforts to ensure security and stability in the region."

The Algerian "love" for the French should be an example for everyone else about how to deal with colonizer bs.
This promises to be good, after the initial coldness between them
after the initial coldness between them
that was very irritating , like my dude algeria , you have nothing to gain from that , secure your hard to secure southern border and get yourself an ally against the perfidous Morrocean King. Algeria has this Insane Military force , it could really yield a lot of influence in this area.
China asks to join Brazil's WTO lawsuit against US tariff hikes - Carta Capital
::: spoiler Article
According to Beijing, China has a commercial interest in the consultation and is directly affected by the trade offensive.
China requested on Monday, the 10th, to participate in Brazil's action at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the tariffs imposed by the United States on Brazilian products. According to Beijing, China has a commercial interest in the consultation and is directly affected by the trade offensive.
The document filed by Beijing states that the US actions "affect all Chinese exports to the United States, except for the specified exemptions, and in particular, the competitive conditions of products originating in China sold in the United States market, as a result of the additional tariffs imposed."
Earlier, the U.S. agreed to hold the consultations, the first step in the entity's dispute settlement process, but there is still no date for when they will take place. "We are ready to engage in dialogue with representatives of your mission in order to determine a mutually convenient date for the consultations," the U.S. said.
If the talks fail to resolve the impasse within 60 days, Brazil may request the creation of a panel to analyze whether the US measures violate the organization's rules. Brazil's lawsuit against the U.S. was filed in July, following the announcement by the Office of the United States Trade Representative of two surcharges, both based on Section 301 of U.S. trade law: an additional 25% tariff related to the investigation into Brazilian trade practices and a 12.5% surcharge linked to the investigation into alleged failures by Brazil in combating the importation of products manufactured with forced labor.
In its submission to the WTO, the Lula government argues that the measures are "discriminatory" and incompatible with commitments stipulated in the organization's founding treaty. One of the reasons, according to the text, is that the tariff increase exceeds the rates that the Americans are authorized to apply according to the organization's rules. Furthermore, Brazil argued before the WTO that the US ignores the organization's dispute settlement mechanisms by stipulating that any disagreements must be resolved within the organization. :::

When Iran's nuclear facilities were reduced to ruins amid the roar of drones, when Hezbollah's top brass died collectively due to an exploding pager, and when the Italian Prime Minister's mobile phone became a "real-time eavesdropper" of Mossad - this intelligence agency known as the "Middle East butcher knife" is quietly extending its claws to China. The thrilling spy offensive and defensive battle in Chengdu in 2023 revealed the tip of the iceberg of modern intelligence warfare.
I. Chengdu Spy: Eavesdropping Conspiracy in Commercial Cloak
At the beginning of 2023, a group of "technology experts" in suits walked into a technology company in Chengdu, claiming that they wanted to jointly build a "data processing center" to optimize urban traffic.
This project, which was initiated by the Israeli Embassy in China and led by a Tel Aviv data security company, was actually a surveillance plan carefully planned by Mossad.
The independent international bandwidth they applied for far exceeded commercial needs, and the encryption protocol was exactly the same as Mossad's special tool "SIGNIT". What was even more fatal was that after the equity penetration, it directly pointed to the Israeli Ministry of Defense Fund.
The AI counter-espionage system of China's national security agency was the first to see through the disguise: the "engineers" who were frequently transferred across borders met the training characteristics of Mossad agents, and the so-called "European R&D data synchronization" was actually an excuse to hijack the backbone communication traffic in the southwest region.
When the Chengdu National Security Bureau and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly launched a penetrating review, it was discovered that this monitoring center, disguised as a commercial building, had already prepared an electromagnetic shielding room and "honeycomb" global monitoring network access equipment in its underground isolation layer.
II. Technical Strangulation: Mossad's Three Deadly Tactics
Mossad's global hunting chain is escalating:
Assassination scalpel: From exploding pagers of Hezbollah top brass to an "accidental car accident" of an Iranian nuclear scientist, implanted bombs and drone beheadings have become the norm.
In 2025, the commander-in-chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Salami, was precisely eliminated on the streets of Tehran. Behind this was an intelligence network built by 700 insiders.
Intelligence Trojan Horse: In the Chengdu incident, the Tel Aviv company used "data compliance" as bait to try to implant monitoring equipment into China's western communications hub.
Even more covert is dark web recruitment - in 2025, a technical backbone of an AI company in Shenzhen was deceived by foreign forces with "academic cooperation" and almost leaked key algorithms.
III. China's countermeasures: from technical defense to national defense
Facing Mossad's technical disguise, China has built a "triple firewall":
Technological countermeasures: The "Skynet-Anti-surveillance" system deployed in Chengdu and Xi'an can identify abnormal cross-border data flows in real time. Starting in 2024, foreign-funded technology projects must pass "data sovereignty review", and core algorithms and bandwidth are prohibited from being controlled overseas.
Legal Sword: Article 24 of the newly revised "Anti-Espionage Law" directly rejected the Chengdu project. The company involved was included in the "Unreliable Entity List", and the asset freezing measures shocked the international business community.
The counterintelligence cooperation launched with the European Union in 2024 will share intelligence on Mossad's operational patterns and form a transnational joint defense.
People's War: 30% of espionage cases will be solved by public reports in 2024. Harbin students discovered modified drones operating around military bases, and nuclear power workers prevented foreign engineers from illegally photographing pressure vessel welds. These daily vigilances have woven the tightest line of defense.
IV. Bloody Warning: Iran's Lessons and China's Mirror
What is even more shocking is that the head of Iran's anti-Mossad special forces was actually an Israeli agent, and the Revolutionary Guard generals still used ordinary mobile phones to make calls, which ultimately led to their beheading.
In contrast, in China, a certain overseas personnel who failed the civil service examination actually surrendered to the enemy and tried to "whitewash himself" and stay undercover for a long time.
This kind of "treason by venting anger" reveals a new risk: psychologically unbalanced people may become the most dangerous breakthrough point. However, the legalization of China's counter-espionage system combined with the mass line makes it difficult for such conspiracies to succeed. In 2025, Zhang Jiange, a senior engineer at a military institute, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling electromagnetic gun technology, and Huang from a provincial agency was forced to leak secrets due to an extramarital affair and was finally caught by the law.
V. Future Gaming: From Physical Bases to Digital Battlefields
Mossad has adjusted its strategy: The 2025 Shenzhen AI technology theft case shows that it is turning to "dark web recruitment + remote infiltration", using virtual currency payments and encrypted communications to evade detection.
More covertly, they have turned their attention to the "technology supply chain" and attempted to infiltrate key areas through legal channels such as joint ventures and academic exchanges.
Facing this war without gunpowder, every citizen is a line of defense. Just as the fisherman Lao Chen reported the underwater stealing device immediately after fishing it out, and just as the citizens of Chengdu decisively called 12339 when they saw suspicious people photographing sensitive facilities - when the whole nation is on high alert against espionage, the shadow hunters of Mossad will eventually "have no room to maneuver in China, and will be captured and killed if they move"!

Israel is most akin to a metastatic cancer. Countries really should wisen the fuck up.
...if they wish to...
I mean if they don't ultimately they'll end up in a situation where whatever they gain through the relationship with Israel is massively offset by the even greater losses. Long term thinking is essential. And Israel only views gods chosen people as human beings so it's quite predictable how they will behave
it's as predictable as, for example, what would happen if a country were invaded and offered the choice between supporting a heavily armed patriotic front or letting 20% of their land and population become literally flattened and then celebrating one of the holidays of the invader with public money. no country under american influence is going to do the right thing
Which country are you talking about?
on this occasion lebanon
Oh yeah
Well China at least has more options making it easier to avoid us or Zionist influence
i would simply not have an "Israeli" embassy nor allow joint economic projects with "Israeli" companies or nationals on my soil, but that's just me. Guess China has to keep learning lessons the hard way.
One should assume 100% of Israelis abroad are Mossad until proven otherwise.
Respectfully, because I am not here for an argument, just pointing out that China knows what it's been doing: https://archive.is/qnLOb
There's global initiatives to demonize their political party in every single western aligned state. There's people putting anti-China shit on lamp posts in... Lithuania. I am certain they have gotten the memo.
Yet they still trade and do economic initiatives with the demonic genocidal entity
They have such a small population, and their entire startup scene are offshoots from military intelligence units.
It would be extremely unusual that any business done by Israelis abroad is not tied to intelligence operations.
The counterintelligence cooperation launched with the European Union in 2024 will share intelligence on Mossad's operational patterns and form a transnational joint defense.
Huh.
most of the intelligence agencies of the world are simultaneously infiltrated by and collaborating with eachother it's definitely... odd
I'm just going to assume that doing this (or pretending to) makes sense in some larger context that I'm unaware of.
i applaud your optimism. truly.
Of course nothing matters and no one will point this out in mainstream media, but a $300 billion reconstruction fund was literally in the MOU that Trump signed.
Trump broke the memorandum of understanding by not understanding it.
Should have been called the memorandum of misunderstanding, then Trump would get it!
I forgor
I cant even read this shit anymore. It's all fart noises in my mind.
Trump does not know or care what was in the MoU. All he cares about is the TV saying "Iran signs deal to open the Strait". In Trump's mind that means he won and therefore he can do anything he wants, therefore the Strait goes back to normal immediately. That's the only level he's capable of understanding the conflict at as he slips into dementia. Except rhey can't take away Iran's ability to control the Strait, so reality refuses to move at Trump's whim.
The Trump regime is literally incapable of coming to terms with Iran and ending the war
roadside bombs
Is Trump mixing his wars up? Iran has no need for roadside bombs. Americans can't even set foot on their land. He's probably mixing it up with the Iraq and Afganistan wars where they had to resort to completely different tactics because they were being actively occupied.
I guess they're all Muslim countries so of course he'd have trouble differentiating between them.
It's because to trump, and let's be real, 45% of Americans minimum, Iran and Iraq are the same country with the same people (Muslims) only Iranians have upgraded Muslims (Shia).
Anytime an American was wounded or killed in Iraq or Afghanistan, it's because Iran supplied the weapons, according to him
The USS Cole? Iran is behind Al Queda attacks now? (That happened 26 years ago)
Is there anything that isn't Iran's fault? Lol
Is there anything that isn't Iran's fault? Lol
You need to start taking this seriously, just this morning I stubbed my toe on an Iran-backed coffee table in my own living room
Iran pooped my pants
My fucking Iran-backed wife took the kids
It is hilarious trump signed a document with a couple bulletpoints, one of which was PAY $300 BILLION TO IRAN and then he just says this shit.
Is the 52k supposed to be the "killing protestors" myth? The number just keeps growing. I guess memetic falsehoods just do that much like cancer.
I thought it was 60k, so some of the dead victims actually got better.

What if you wanted to enter Jannah, but the Ayatollah said 504 Bad Gateway

Yes, there are bots all over social media spreading it too. Trump himself already said the US provided weapons to them.
Started because they were trying to get nukes? Huh, is that why the decapitation strikes happened? And there was all that talk about changing leadership?
(Iran never tried to get nukes)
Also true
Eternally funny that this dumb fucker didn't even bother to read the much touted beautiful MOU.
BREAKING: Iran has completely ruled out any future negotiations with the Trump administration, declaring it will wait out Donald Trump's term until January 20, 2029, per Iranian outlets and Ghalibaf advisor's post.
"Trump will not reach an agreement with us. We will accompany him until his term ends," said Majid Shakeri, advisor to Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf.
He posted: "The path to victory is neither fighting nor a deal — it is managing the process of neither war nor peace, up to the point of victory. Publicly confirming negotiations with the U.S. is sheer folly. The winning approach is denial, ambiguity, and strategic patience."
Iran's conditions remain unchanged: $300 billion in compensation, release of frozen assets, and withdrawal of U.S. forces. Until then, the Strait stays closed.
https://x.com/HormuzReport/status/2086808758072840408
Bold of them to assume he'll be leaving office in 2029.
Imagine if they actually go through with it
iran should get even crazier with its demands "give us 10 tons of enriched uranium "
Iran should demand the US give up its nuclear program.
420 tonnes of M&M's with all the brown ones removed.
You know, I was talking with an Iranian guy the other day, and he said, he can buy everything national, except for the Nutella for his kids, and I realized, it's a cold dry country, you can't grow chocolate there, so shipping chocolate beans for the kids is not such an outlandish thing. If I had money id probably try that.
I can't believe Iran is trying to manipulate the 2028 election.
Iran hitting trump with the ol' Jimmy Carter, the shaudenfreude flows thick
Iran taking the Dem's approach to US politics
Let's just wait this term out and try again next time!
Refusing to negotiate (with a party that's proven to be unreliable) isn't the same thing as waiting. They're basically maintaining the war at a status quo where they have a bunch of advantages.
I know you're joking but I'm being literal
Let's wait it out and let the Republicans run the United States into the ground is a very different policy depending on whether you are Iran or the Democratic party of the United States.

Taylor Farms in the US has issued a recall for contaminated food products.
No, not the known existing cyclospora problem, this is a brand new problem involving salmonella on jalapenos.
Turns out making your farm workers shit in the field next to all the food they have to harvest results in a lot of contamination, thank goodness the free market was here to let us know
IIRC, it’s more about animal ag contamination
Salmonella on jalapeños is my favourite vocal warm-up
wake up babe new vocal stim just dropped
it is getting to be unsafe to eat any food you didn't grow yourself in Amerikkka. and even that is suspect if you haven't had your soil tested
My fucking jalapeños now?!?!? Arrrrrrrrgh!
Manage yer goddamned feces, capitalists. Literally the bare fucking minimum.
Don't worry the Free Market will solve this problem. People won't want to get sick eating food, so they'll instead buy from the newly created competitor to Taylor Farms: Faylor Tarms! Capitalism works yet again!
Free market baby!
Donating a few million more towards Trump's campaign, or whatever the fuck, will surely fix the problem rather than actually putting money into food safety.
Weren't they exonerated from the lettuce thing due to a false positive?
The false positive is a media mismanagement (or correct management if Taylor Farms paid the media to spin it this way) After the outbreak had already begun the FDA started doing testing on lettuce at the US/Mexico border. The lettuce that triggered the false positive just meant that batch was safe, not that the supply chain wasn't full of actual dookie. There was no explanation for what caused the false positive and no apology or exoneration, but it did come immediately after the donation to Donny Deals. Taco Bell's tracing completely independent of the FDA shows it was Taylor Farms who harvested and sold the lettuce
I honestly trust Taco Bell's research more than the CDC or any part of the US gov at this point. They are held to a higher standard of accountability.
ancap world
last I saw, they made a "donation" to the administration and the FDA retracted the report, but the state food safety agencies have not retracted their own reports.
US SPR crude inventories fell by ~6.1mb w/w to a multi year low of 298.7mb
How close to tank bottom are we talking
at current rates, less than one year until empty
holy shit
No idea about parriculars ie. cushing but the current situation is:
-
The SPR is held mostly in salt caves in Louisiana and Texas, with a maximum capacity of 714mbal. It is currently at 298.7mbal.
-
In the best case scenario, The can be drawn down to around 10-15% capacity, or 71.4-107.4mbal. The stuff that settles at the bottom of the caves is such poor quality that it's likely unusable.
-
The next 10-15%, ~214.2mbal including the sludge, is thought to be risky or even impossible, due to cumulative damage to the caves and equipment. So, the US govt itself isn't confident that it can withdraw below that line without significant repairs to facilities, let alone the general risk of the caverns collapsing.
-
Current wave of IEA/Trump admin drawdowns will bring the US SPR to 243mbal*, or about 34% of capacity. Officially, Congress must approve drawdowns below 250mbal, but Trump is Trump.
So, the point being is the US is over-reporting the effective levels of usable crude in its reserves, but internally is beginning to worry how long it can keep up the charade.
The current capacity is projected to reach 34%, but anywhere between 10-30% could be the effective "tank bottom", we have no way of knowing as outsiders.
^* Note the DoE spokesman saying "70mbal" is the minimum safe level, presumably a lowball for the % of unusable sludge. Either he's bullshitting, or they're just not mentioning the decaying equipment as this can "technically" be repaired...^
What do you mean the current wave of drawdown?
The first legal "tank bottom" is 250M, that is what the admin can theoretically drain on their own. But I doubt that anyone will care about legal limits.
Because of how the SPR works, there is no absolute tank bottom, some of the caves are even one-time use only. But the quality of the oil will decline, as well as the theoretical max output speed.
The long-term SPR caves will be in danger of collapse, imagine how funny it would be if the US suddenly loses 50M barrels because of it.
The current US administration will absolutely sacrifice the long-term engineering stability of storage facilities if it kicks the can of consequences down the road for a few weeks. There won't be a moment's hesitation.
The current drawdown authorized by Trump will bring it to 243 mbal without a peep from congress so...
298.7 million barrels.
If it keeps falling by more than 5mb per week then we only have a little more than 9 weeks left before we hit the oil reserve minimum, right? Syncs up nicely with the Mark Twain effect i.e. stocks tend to perform badly in October due to structural reasons.
So I'm hearing October is the best time to buy the dip?
It won't hold to that rate IMO. Summer demand with Americans taking car trips is much larger than fall demand. By early September (if not late August) it starts to fall off and by October there aren't many people traveling and won't be again until late November around Thanksgiving (after the elections).
IMO gas prices stay more or less fine through election day. It'll hit sometime after that, maybe a week later, maybe March next year but the US plans to just ride it out like the 70s OPEC boycott, refuse to acknowledge Iran and let the zionist entity have time to continue on its operations.

Caracas, August 9 (Prensa Latina) The Chief Rabbi of the Israelite Association Isaac Cohen today raised with the Venezuelan government the need to reestablish diplomatic and consular relations, while popular sectors rejected the presence of Israel in this country.
The Foreign Ministry of the Bolivarian Republic released a press statement detailing the meeting held at its headquarters this Sunday between the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plascencia, and Cohen, who delivered a letter addressed to the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez.
This text raised the “need to re-establish diplomatic and consular relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the State of Israel.”
He specified that the purpose of the request is "to address the needs of the Jewish community in our country," the source quoted the foreign minister as saying via his Instagram account.
In his message on the social network, Plasencia highlighted that Venezuela has historically welcomed a Jewish community "whose contributions have been key to national development."
He also thanked the Israeli government for its prompt assistance following the June 24 earthquakes, which measured 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, when “a specialized delegation assessed collapsed structures, diagnosed vulnerabilities and designed contingency plans.”
The senior diplomat stated that this dialogue strengthens "the bonds of respect, cooperation and mutual recognition between both peoples."
Social and popular movements and organizations staged an act of repudiation against the US and Zionist presence in Venezuela on July 24th in Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, and in solidarity with Cuba, Iran and Palestine.
Dozens of women and men joined their voices that day to reject what they called "aid disguised as occupation" and shouted "Yankees out of Venezuela, we don't want to be an American colony."
The organizers also joined forces in a manifesto to highlight “the courageous resistance of the Palestinian people, the victorious response of the Iranian people”; they recalled the words of the Cuban Apostle José Martí “here is Bolívar, vigilant and stern” and assured that “Cuba will prevail”.
With shouts of “Stop the Zionist and imperialist invasion, we must defend the socialist homeland”; “(Donald) Trump, fascist, to Calvary, murderer and terrorist,” those present set fire to the flags of the United States and Israel, while on the floor the faces of the US president and Benjamin Netanyahu were trampled and burned. :::

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman:
‘There is no reason for us to be concerned that this pact between the two neighboring countries of Turkey and Pakistan, as well as Saudi Arabia, three countries with which we share deep religious, historical, and civilizational bonds, is against Iran. The history of our friendship with the nations of Turkey and Pakistan, as two neighboring Muslim countries, is long-standing and known to everyone. This development is an important sign of a shift in regional priorities and we have always supported alliances between Muslims.’
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan wanted Egypt to be part of their new alliance, but after providing President El-Sisi with a piece of ‘intelligence bait’ (false intelligence), it was discovered he provided the information to America. After this, it was decided that Egypt was not trustworthy enough to be included in the alliance, according to a source who spoke on the matter.

FYI, you can buy olive oil soap from Palestine. (I bet that's news to some of you.)
My boyfriend was gifted Palestinian olive oil shampoo/soap made in Palestine from olives grown there. The person who gave it to him says it made their hair feel heavier. It's so precious we haven't used it for like half a year. But I think Palestinians would appreciate us testing their product and feel it in our hair. So soon I'll ask him if I could have the honor of testing it.
After I open it, I want to frame the wrapper that the soap is packaged in. I'm thinking about getting a special soap dish for the soap because I'm planning to use it sparingly.
EDIT: A sad truth is as I use it I'll be wondering if the trees that grew the olives in this soap bar have already been destroyed. So I mean it when I say it'd be an honor to use it. I think feeling Palestenian history in my hair is a really important experience.
Do you know where to buy it?

Thank you! I had no clue where. I have the camel one.
Got some a few months ago. I've used probably about 25% of a bar. Really good shit, too.
That makes me more excited.
I looked at their reviews. The soaps are very versatile stuff. It's good for rashy, sensitive skin. People even love using them to clean/condition paintbrushes.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC), the UAE’s state-owned energy giant, has announced plans to construct a new liquefied natural gas export facility on the country's eastern coast designed to bypass the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The strategic pivot comes as regional maritime security deteriorates significantly, with ADNOC reporting that three of its commercial vessels fell victim to drone and missile attacks while transiting the vital waterway over the past week.

Lula maintains electoral leadership against Flávio Bolsonaro in Brazil - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler spoiler
Brasilia, August 10 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva maintains his lead over Senator Flávio Bolsonaro in the presidential race, according to a poll released today by Nexus/BTG Pactual.
The research states that the ruling party candidate, proposed by the Workers' Party, reaches 40 percent of the voting intentions in a stimulated first-round scenario, five points above the candidate of the Liberal Party (PL).
Meanwhile, former Goiás governor Ronaldo Caiado, of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), appears in third place with five percent, heading into the October elections.
Next are Renan Santos, from the Mission party, with four percent, and former governor of Minas Gerais Romeu Zema, from the New Party (three).
Corresponding to the ninth round of the Nexus/BTG Pactual study, the survey was conducted through telephone interviews from August 7 to 9 with two thousand and one voters from the 27 federal units of the South American giant.
It has a margin of error of two percentage points, the confidence level reaches 95 percent, and is registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) under number BR-08428/2026.
In a potential runoff between Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro, the president would get 47 percent compared to the senator's 44 percent.
The three-point difference is within the margin of error, so it constitutes a technical tie between the two, according to media outlets such as the Brazil 247 website.
Lula also numerically surpasses the other opponents included in the runoff simulations, which are scheduled for October 25, three weeks after the first round.
Against Caiado, the head of state obtains 46 percent against 42; against Zema he reaches 47 to 40; Renan Santos already surpasses him 46 to 37.
In the spontaneous consultation, conducted without presenting the interviewees with a list of candidates, Lula accounts for 29 percent of the preferences and Flávio Bolsonaro 19 percent.
Of the voters who support Lula in the first round, 83 percent say their decision is already made and will not change, while that proportion among voters in favor of Flávio Bolsonaro reaches 80.
By region, the Northeast continues to be Lula's main electoral stronghold, with 53 percent in the first round.
The aforementioned elections will allow voters to choose a president, vice president, governors, 54 of 81 senators and federal, state and district representatives. :::

Jair Bolsonaro, president of Brazil (2019–2022) and federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro (1991–2018) (endorsed son Flávio Bolsonaro); On 30 June 2023, Bolsonaro was declared ineligible until 2030 for abuse of political power and misuse of the media after attacking the Brazilian electoral system at a meeting with foreign ambassadors on 18 July 2022, broadcast on the public television network TV Brasil. On 11 September 2025, he was sentenced to 27 years in prison for being involved in the 2022–2023 coup d'état plot.
Eduardo Bolsonaro, federal deputy for São Paulo (2015–2025) (endorsed brother Flávio Bolsonaro); When his father Jair Bolsonaro became ineligible, Eduardo Bolsonaro declared his candidacy for president. After being removed from the office of federal deputy, he withdrew his candidacy and declared support for his brother, Flávio Bolsonaro. On 16 June 2026, he became ineligible for 12 years due to his conviction of coercion in the investigation process of the 2022–2023 coup d'état plot for provoking the 2025–2026 Brazil–United States diplomatic dispute.
The Brazilian Oligarchy (right-wing parties) don't even care about the presidency anymore, ever since they coup'ed Dilma, they installed semi-parlimentarism in Brazil (which the same thing they did in 1961 when they attempted a military coup), they just care about fucking the Supreme Court and keeping their seats in congress. The right is divided between Centrão (they're ones who want to get the most seats in congress and senate and then blackmail and manipulate the Presidency and Supreme Court into giving them money with exchange for them not closing the congress. They even attempted to pass a law that protected all Centrão members from being investigated for ties with Criminal Factions or Sexual Crimes, and they also attempted to pass a law protecting pedophiles andremoveds, but failed after Lula vetoed and the population protested it), and the Bolsonarists/Far-Right (these are delusional people who miss the old 1964 dictatorship, they are just as corrupt as the Centrão but 10 times more dumb and motivated by ideology besides money and corruption).
don’t even care about the presidency
they do care about it. they tried a coup before to perpetuate their own and the empire's interests unimpeded, lula holds it back somewhat compared. it feels like they are playing that same old 64 playbook is what this is.
plus it can't be argued that the us won't back another attempt anymore, like the rumors suggested last election. they want to establish much more open fascism. more sweat, more blood, and they need it quick.
Lula calling himself a centrist to the IMF chair at Davos to getting ousted by an IMF-backed neolib is gonna be somethin'
reminder though, that it's almost certain bolsonaro will try a coup again.
and bolsonaristas aren't placing their poll answers on bolsonaro out of shame, like on the last presidential election. yeah some of them know it's wrong.
it's gonna be tighter than the polls are suggesting.

Colombia severs ties with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Bogotá, August 10 (Prensa Latina) Colombia has decided to suspend its diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the Foreign Ministry announced today in this capital.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the “reorientation confirms Colombia’s willingness to revitalize its relations with Morocco,” a country it described as “an ally for almost fifty years.”
He noted that the new bilateral dynamic “will be based on ambitious and concrete cooperation, carrying considerable potential in terms of trade exchanges, investment promotion, tourism, food security, port and logistics development, as well as strengthening Atlantic connectivity.”
The decision is in line with the announcement made last Friday by Colombia's Vice President, José Manuel Restrepo, and Foreign Minister, Omar Bula, to recognize "Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara."
The decision was later rejected by the Polisario Front, which described it as "an unfortunate staging of a transactional pact with a deep ideological bias."
He clarified that Western Sahara is a non-self-governing territory pending decolonization and that its definitive status can only be determined through the free and genuine exercise of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence.
He also recalled that the International Court of Justice established in 1975 that there are no links of territorial sovereignty between Morocco and Western Sahara.
“The recognition of the alleged Moroccan sovereignty is therefore a decision contrary to the principles of international law, as it contributes to legitimizing a situation resulting from a military occupation of a territory pending decolonization,” he stressed.
Colombia and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic established diplomatic relations on February 27, 1985, during the government of President Belisario Betancur (1982-1986).
After its unilateral suspension in 2001 by President Andrés Pastrana (1998-2002), President Gustavo Petro (2022-2026) restored its validity on August 11, 2022. :::

It is the strongest earthquake felt in the country in the last decade, and there is a history of earthquakes in that area, particularly on November 23, 1979 , when there was a magnitude 7.2 earthquake. We have had two aftershocks, one of 2.8 and another of 4.8 that was felt recently . ”

Abusive ex-husband of domestic violence activist arrested in Brazil - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Brasilia, Aug 9 (Prensa Latina) The ex-husband of Brazilian activist Maria da Penha Maia Fernandes, the woman who inspired and gave her name to the law against domestic violence in the country, was arrested today for violating court protection measures.
Marco Antônio Heredia Viveros was preventively detained in Natal, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, after giving a television interview about the case that turned his ex-wife into an international symbol of the fight against violence against women.
The arrest was ordered the day before by a judge during the judicial guard regime, at the request of the Public Ministry of the state of Ceará (MPCE), and carried out by the Military Police of Rio Grande do Norte with the support of the Public Ministry of that state.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Viveros was prohibited from 2024 from disclosing information related to the process and disseminating the name or image of Maria da Penha and the couple's two daughters on social networks, applications or any other virtual space.
The measure was violated after he gave an interview to the television program Domingo Espetacular, on the Record network. Promotional material and excerpts of the conversation began circulating before the broadcast, scheduled for this Sunday, prompting the MPCE to request his arrest.
The court found evidence of non-compliance with an emergency protective measure, and also ordered the removal of content related to the interview from circulation and prohibited its dissemination on television, social networks or other platforms.
The episode is preceded by the attacks suffered by Maria da Penha in 1983, when the man tried to kill her on two occasions: in the first attack he shot her while she slept and left her paraplegic; later he tried to electrocute her.
Viveros was convicted in 1991 and again in 1996, but remained free for years due to appeals filed by his defense.
He was finally imprisoned on October 29, 2002, in Natal, almost two decades after the attacks. In 2004 he was transferred to a semi-open prison regime, and in 2007 he was granted parole.
Last March, the MPCE filed charges against Viveros and three other people for an alleged hate campaign against Maria da Penha.
The international repercussions of the case contributed to the approval, in 2006, of Law 11.340, known as the Maria da Penha Law, which established specific mechanisms to prevent and combat domestic and family violence against women.
This new arrest of Viveros occurs precisely during the Lilac August, a national campaign to raise awareness and confront violence against women in Brazil.
This year's commemoration has special significance, as August 7 marked the 20th anniversary of the Maria da Penha Law, considered one of the country's main instruments for protecting victims. :::
