Duopoly? Intel is viable nowadays too. But people look at amd and nvidia the same way they look at gucci and whatever.
We gotta forget brands already. Especially when there's an option as good as Intel is right now.
Which Intel GPU is competitive? Benchmark/testing links?
This is a comparison I made for myself a few months ago, in Romania.
As you can see the B580 is fairly competitive considering the price.
I looked on the site pcgarage.ro exclusively, though you can usually get better deals on smaller eshops that take more time to deliver. (If you want to check for yourself use the filters not the search. The search on their site is crap.)
Also, considering the intent of both AMD and NVIDIA is to release puny GPU's with 4 and 8 GB of VRAM, intel is very relevant here.
If the price of those dogshit GPU's comes up to anything close to 1600 RON as the B580 is, the B580 will outperform them in probably every conceivable way, bar reputation.
Also, older gen cards exist. Intel can beat those sometimes. I know people that were looking to buy second hand in my area but ended up buying a new Arc card. They're decent options if the budget is tight and you get something that you know hasn't been abused in some way (I'm looking at you smokers and vapers haha)

At price point it's beating everything with RX 9060 XT 8GB being close.
If I'm reading this right, you could spend $50 more ($300 vs. $250 for the Intel) for a 9060 and get an almost 50% perf improvement.
This seems to say that if your limit is the dollars, the Intel cards may be a semi-workable option, but I guess it hinges a lot on your definition of "viable."

But yea, intel is only competitive on the low end. But that is perfectly fine. 3rd world countries exist. We like Arc here.
How's compatibility with older games these days? I remember drivers having trouble with games that aren't among the typical titles used for benchmarking being a surprising weakness of Intel cards.

This is ridiculous. I recently bought a card at $100 more than launch price and I'm starting to feel like I got a good deal.
How can they justify the price raises?

On one hand, I'm pleasantly surprised it's rumoured to be only 10% with memory price inflation being much higher. On the other hand, how big was the markup on MSRP that they can withstand the memory price increases with "only" a 10% price hike?
