Every time CenturiiC comes up I want to remind people that she's really racist. I basically stopped following her after maybe the 2nd time she made some N-word joke / reposted fanart of her followers doing it / really leaned into it. I don't have a writeup of her shit anymore but she's turbocancelled, or should be. Disappointing because I thought her art style was cute and gags like this are funny. Sometimes I wonder what she's up to now, but twitter is account-locked now
Is she doing the Stonetoss sort of thing where she occasionally does cute and crowd pleasing comics in order to draw people in, so they get exposed to the racist stuff?
it's not really that surprising when you think about how often "classicists" and "otakus" turn out to be uniform wearing neo-nazis. i know of a french one that once depicted themselves as a kawaii anime pastry baker who ended the comic saying "happy holocaust" to a jewish customer... sparkles in the air half moon eyes, everything. wears a full commandant costume in several others. i read about 10 after a man from dot-world smeared the "misandrist" pizzacake and linked to the nazi's gauche & facile parody of her. that was enough.
I hadn't known how much that crowd ended up neonazi. Watching CenturiiC take the mask off made me now far more suspicious and vigilant
Did Centurii acknowledge anything about these situations?
Yes, in a bad way. She put one drawing hinting at racial slurs out, got apparently positive feedback on it from her fans, and then leaned into the n word jokes more aggressively in subsequent strips. And the racist fanart, I saw specifically because she was retweeting it with praise and appreciation. She also joked around in comments with people who were openly racist. I read all that as acknowledging the situation.
Oh I'm also reminded of a strip she wrote with a conquistadora having a small harem of indigenous women. Apparently genocide is fine as long as you're a cutesy quirked up lesbian
About the first one, that's a terrible way to respond. You have to be very mean spirited to continue with the offensive jokes when so many people already told you they are in bad taste.
Second, this hits a bit too close home. I'm a Latino and I really get a bit down thinking how European colonialism lead to the deaths of most of the natives in the Americas, we also make bad jokes about this topic (like how the British didn't wanted to mix with the natives but the Spanish did). I don't know what native people think about this, but I'd believe they consider it offensive as well.
That sucks, I was going to call the character Lean Shrimp Patty and feel pleased with myself but now it's mostly disappointment.
I dont get it
The “dactyl club” of mantis shrimp is able to strike with “acceleration similar to that of a .22 LR bullet fired from a handgun.”
The joke is that the mantis shrimp is able to control the person’s body such that she can strike just as swiftly as a mantis shrimp. However—because a human arm is much more massive than a mantis shrimp claw—instead of being a knockout blow (as was intended) the punch basically vaporizes her opponent’s head.
In theory her arm should have also experienced the same forces and would have also fractured if not crushed by the impact, but maybe the mantis shrimp controlling her also grants her fists more structural integrity.
structural integrity at 25%. we can't survive another hit like that.
