1 year on e and I am actually SO weak now, I had to ask my dad to put some weights back on the rack for me when we went to the gym 😭

I used to be able to do 450lb leg press 5 times in a row what happened

I don't absolutely hate myself anymore so that's going for me :steamhappy:

I do wish we could argue for rights for even those of us who excel. Like, yeah I'm naturally pretty strong, I always have been, and so's my cis woman ex.

That said, yeah you'll never feel weaker than about a year into hrt

Someone linked a study on this a while ago. IIRC it's a 20-30% strength loss on average, depending on the ability you're testing?

Lmao at least, and that's probably per year

That last part is super important though 😭🙏❤️‍🩹

I got a bit confused why someone had the number "i" in the picture.

Thats the i in the team

It's not really an i, that's just imaginary.

my 6'2" ass missing every shot

Ah, I see the issue. You usually use your arms to play basketball not your ass!

On the plus side, those are some impressively tall buttocks!

Why are you shooting? Just reach up and put it in the basket...

I'm a 6'2" cis male who can't come close to dunking

Meh. That's what hydraulics and heavy machinery are for.

right, who needs muscles when you're forklift certified

It's unfair to the forklift certified cis women to have a forklift certified trans woman in the employee roster /s

they can compensate with more muscles

...please

Turns ignition key harder

wait we should totally do this with the forklift. just need a basketball hoop...

I have to actually work out now so my shoulder stays in place now.

I don't think the AirBud rule applies to heavy machinery. Can you even fit a jersey over a excavator?

i like the implication that the main reason a dog was allowed to play was that they managed to get the jersey on him

Hey, I don't write the rules. I just pretend they exist.

Ain’t no rule that says a heavy machinery can’t play basketball!

nyaaaaaaaaa, i always was weak as hell, weaker than anyone, cuz i think because im kitty actually

Cats are pretty fucking athletic.

True, but they always think they're stronger then they are. Flexibility does not equal big beefy cot

Source: am cot

mprpmrpmr depends, my kid tishka is pretty weak n lazy too, very lazy until he need bite me, but mary is pretty fast and movable kitty and doesnt eat as much as tishka

yeah same for me. i lost quite a bit of stamina over the last few weeks. i can literally feel my heart beat just from taking a walk these days. it's insane. i should do some fitness training explicitely.

I don't get it, I have women coworkers that are stronger than me, how is estrogen making you that weak?

Because cisgender women almost always have more testosterone than transgender women.

i think that it's actually a medical complication and not entirely intended that way. the HRT for me has very (very) strong psychotropic effects. it really shakes my head around. one of the psychological effects is also that i breathe differently (not sure how to explain this one) and the weak heart is connected to this. i suspect it's temporary and my body just needs time to adjust ... there's a quite a lot of backstory to all this but i don't wanna go into too much detail rn. i'll figure it out, i'll be fine, don't worry :)

I remember the comment about not treating women as a different species, but when someone changes their biological gender, they have a downright mind shift.

Like, if it would not mess me up for life physically, I'd freaking try it for the trip, out of curiosity.

I'm sorry to hear about your heart, I hope it turns out fine.

I've been 9 years on E and if anything I think I got stronger, because I feel more in touch with my body. I guess this just works different for everyone ._.

I didn't lose as much strength as I thought I would, but that's just because I was as weak as physically possible before HRT. Losing as much strength as others would've put me below basic resting muscle mass

I'm the complete opposite. I started off thin but dense. I would have friends twice my size try to wrestle me and complain that I was too solid. Now, I try to lift weights and run and it's like holy hell what happened why is this so tough? 4lb dumbbells feel like 10lb used to

I did also stop working out when I started, so that might be a factor 😅

I have the same issue, I now no longer can open jars as easily 🥲

Get a cheap pair of rubber coated work gloves for your kitchen. They make jars easy to open.

They can be used to handle hot stuff too, if it’s not for long or not very hot but still too hot for bare hands.

They look like this:

Every heard of "stabbing the shit out of the lid"?

It really works!

stabbing the shit out of the lid! Nothing else.

Yeah, we have had this little rubber pad kicking around in a drawer that we always used to open cans. More grip makes it a lot easier.

Time for strategy to replace brawn. Most jars will open easily if you can release the vacuum. Imho the best thing to use is a bottle opener/can piercer, using the rounded end and very gently just barely lifting the edge of the lid. You don't want to break/chip any glass or bend the lid so far its functionality is compromised.

SO THAT'S WHAT THAT POINTY THING IS?!

Only took 30-something trips around the sun to figure that one out...

The pointy end is to pierce the can of evaporated milk or broth. Always make two opposite holes so air can get in. If you have no proper can opener, and something more solid in the can, you can keep going making triangle holes until you can lift up the now-star-shaped lid to get out whatever you couldn't pour through the first 2 triangles. For jar lids used the round end unless you're going to use it all and don't mind accidentally poking a hole in the lid instead of just lifting up the side a little.

I was taught to whack the edge of the jar with the dull side of a butter knife. This releases the vacuum.

It dull side doesn't work, hit the jar edge with the handled of the knife.

Whack the edge of the lid.

That usually works but then there's the time it releases the vacuum by breaking the jar. Maybe it's because I'm a klutz but my mom taught me the slow and gentle way.

She did let me whack the Pillsbury though

i heard somewhere that its not actually only strength that makes it easier for men to open jars, but something to do with the skin. like something to do with the reason their skin is rougher gives them more grippy hands, so they actually just need less physical strength than a woman to open a jar. that would mean even if a man and a woman had the same grip strength and hand size/shape, there would be a jar that the man could open but the woman could not.

It's the lack of moisture on one's skin. I suddenly started dropping things a week into HRT, before anything major could've changed. I realized it was because my hands were much drier and therefore less sticky. It's why wetting your hands a bit can help you open thin plastic bags.

I'm a cis dude with dainty little white piano player hands

pls don't make me open ur beer, i will bleed

lol as a piano player I feel like my hands get quite a bit of exercise

And in general piano players are known for having quite large hands (although that's by no means universal) it really makes some things quite a lot easier. I think it also trains you to stretch your handspan more than non-piano-players can with equivalently sized hands, although I'm sure that won't help you open a beer ofc.

At least you got to be featured in a story by the famous Legitimate Journalist Name (LeJo Nombre to his friends), though!

I feel bad for laughing but lol
