My friend in his first year of university like 16 years ago found Reddit and told me about it and how much he liked it and stuff. People used to be kinda' proud to be a Redditor. I don't know if anyone's like that now. Last time I heard people be kinda' joyous or hopeful about an internet thing was Mastodon which kinda' fizzled out. Haven't heard people be proud to use a website in forever, maybe because it's almost non-optional now.
But yeah, I think Reddit is probably increasingly bots, either by the creators or by 3rd parties.

I only use reddit for information or topics/things that tend to be smaller in scope and fairly niche. I have never interacted with anyone on rhe platform

I think reddit is still successful because its one of the only places where you can still find something without any algo or log in. But stupider things have happend so whatever.

I can read a post for about 5-10 seconds before it covers the text and tells me to download the app, so in my experience, that's just actively untrue
I'm pretty sure old.reddit.com still works and bypasses all of that, not sure about mobile.
Yeah if I wanna talk about say a specific movie or game or book. There arent exactly a ton of places online with active discussion. Now I dont use reddit to talk about politics....but to talk about my niche interests ? Its servicable

Put old. behind a log in screen, so you need to use the shitass mobile version, download their bullshit app, or log in to be able to use the site. I created an account just to do this (i hate myself) and I’m able to use old. but everytime you open a page there’s a redirect loading screen. Hahah and I’m still using it LOOK AT THIS DUMBASS RIGHT HERE
I just go to google in an incognito tab, search for reddit, click, then go to old.reddit.com I think being referred by google breaks whatever it's trying to do
