Absolute cope pretending that typing speed is somehow the limiting factor here
Needs to be more furry, for that extra touch.
Maybe pig-snout shapped, and with pig-ear headphones.
Ths guy types like an LLM too.
Can't wait to repeat myself in slightly different ways to get the damn thing to do what i want....
if you are shipping 3 major updates in a single day, something probably went super wrong.
Couldn't they just roll them into one? The whole post is tonally deaf to the extreme.
No, we must uphold a continuous and unsustainable hype around our products, that requires frequent major updates!
To be fair, it didn't say they were all on the same project.
this is what happens when you let someone who gets stuck in vim make a company
As if these people have heard of vim
But yes
Hey pop a Fleshlight in there and suddenly tomorrow's bus ride to work is starting to look good
Its the future, bro!
"You merely adopted some dumbass shit. I was born in some dumbass shit!"
This is a really big code base...
"For you."
How are they drinking the coffee if they have the masks on to work?
There is another tube that goes up their asses.
Underrated comment of the week
That's not a wire, it's a really long straw
Emergency induction port
3 major updates in the morning and 30 major bug reports during the rest of the day?
Management decided that the issue tracking system should be set up by the intern, using an LLM to slop out the configuration. The good news is they don't receive any bug reports...ever.
No, don't worry: all the tests are done by AI, and they're all ok with the output. It may create some tensions with the users in production with behaviors the users don't expect or understand, but we no longer call those bugs, it's all because human users are inefficient and should be replaced by AI assistants.
“100x developer”
OKAY BUDDY 😂
Why so pessimistic? 1000000x developer sounds much better! /s
Fun fact: The average Linux kernel developer adds probably less than 1100 lines of code per person-year to the kernel. It's estimated 40,000,000 lines of code with over 40,000 person-years of work as input.
That ad-copy... The producers of an infomercial would have told them to tone it down.
I guess if you wear one of these you are probably expected to speak to the AI so much that you won't have the time to think about how ridiculous your job is and how insane you look.
Wait, funtastic brain-computerinterfaces are already in the making. In few years, you can plug the AI directly into your brain!
Three major updates before the coffee's done brewing brings to mind a team scrambling to fix a fuck up, fucking up even more, then scrambling to fix that on top of the original fuck up.
"[Dev1]Oooooh sh*t! Prod is down!! AI, we need to fix this ASAP!
-[CodeAssistant] Please wait, I'm working on a solution.
-[Dev1] No, wait! I haven't given you any details yet!
-[CodeAssistant] Proposed solution: delete entire codebase and database to restart from scratch! Do you want to proceed?
-[Dev2] Mike, do you want to grab a drink after work?
-[Dev1] Yes, sure! … Wait! NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
This all kind of implies that the devs can push to prod whenever they want, which isn't how everyone else is set up. Some of us want to cordon off all this chaos, just a little, with release windows and scheduled downtime if needed. Which is yet more LinkedIn Lunatic material.
Well yeah, those three fuckups were the three major updates. Its all about speed with these lunatics
My cortisol!
actually I need one of these for when the d&d session goes into overtime and I'm talking on voip while the wife is sleeping 😂
I've legit woken up the wife while playing D&D...
She asked me what got me so loud and I had no answer because it was a 5 hr session
Does no one else type faster than they talk?
I max out 80 WPM, but I also speak fucking slow.
Bigger question: who the fuck is bottlenecked by their typing speed?
You can't vibe code your way out of needing to know what to build, how it fits together with what you have, or the things that actually make the job tricky.
You forget that I can now describe the code I want faster than I can write it. Frankly it's irrelevant if the code at the end doesn't do what I want or that I don't know what it does. The speed, baby. Never before could I push this much code this fast. 200+ new bugs a day, four times as fast as I used to be pushing features. The code base is worse than it's ever been and it's only going to get faster from here. This is the future, baby - the vibe coder
I type slower than I talk, but partly because I'm usually thinking through what I'm typing and not as I'm talking
I’m usually thinking
Well there's your problem. No need to bother with that anymore.
Let chatgpt do your thinking for you, and don't forget to let it know your plane landed safely!
I type waaaaayyyyyy slower than I talk. And I talk waaaayyyy slower than I think. And I would definitely destroy any computer trying to keep up with my random and meaningless thoughts.
For me they are roughly on par with each other when accounting for stutter and autocorrect/ me being stupid and mixing up spelling styles. Regardless voice recognition software almost always shits the bed with my accent eventually since it gets thicker the longer I talk, it doesn't like my fucked up mix of American brogue, old arkansaner, and standard southern Californian even got a bit of German Minnesota mixed in.
I think better standing and walking around. Voice notes have been a thing forever
I sometimes can type faster than I normally speak, but that depends on the keyboard (needs something without a membrane sensing apparatus (not rubber domes) for it to work), and I sometimes can type faster than I could think clearly, which can be detrimental to the quality of output. But hey, at a company, they could use it as a metric.
They both...have keyboards.
This is for prompting an LLM. The "senior dev" in this case is not coding anything and neither are typing anything. The idea is that speaking to the LLM is faster than typing a conversation with it.
And apparently junior devs are clamoring to eavesdrop on how senior devs are prompting the LLM and that's a problem. I can see the problem of being in an open office plan and having a ton of folks talking over another but the solution is just cubicles and not this face hugger microphone
My office's open floors have a thorough setup of noise dampening elements. The floor is some fancy carpet, the ceiling lined with some kind of foam elements, each desk has a backing made of that stuff too, and it works fairly well to keep the noise level manageable even when five people around me are in calls (which, given they're second level support, happens fairly often). Our headset have ANC and some fancy built in voice isolation system, so it's not even a bother for people on the other end.
Sure, it's not cheap, but it's neither as isolating as cubicles nor some dystopian bullshit like this. There are solutions if you're willing to spend on them (and after making a show of leading by example, our boss somehow got very willing to spend that money...)
Honestly I wish we had muzzles on people in the offices I've worked in in the past.
My comment is in reference to the first sentence in the post saying "the keyboard era is over."
good luck with things like :(){:|:};:
You think these people code?
No they whisper codebases lol
This isn't what those doofuses are doing, but you actually can do voice coding with an app called Talon-voice. I use it sometimes when my repetitive stress injury gets irritated.
That is beautiful by the way. Glyphic.
Edit: man I just went down a rabbit hole trying to decipher it without prior knowledge and I figured it out! Amazing moment. Code is magic!
a less cryptic version of that is
`fork() {
fork|fork
}
fork `
anyway, dont run it especially as root
shipped three major updates
Aside from what's obviously wrong with that from a technical point of view...as a user I loathe this shit. Like, you think I love it, if your shitty software is nagging me every three hours to update?
they're counting each OS release as a separate update
Wearing a surgical mask to protect others is tyrannical, but wearing this fucking muzzle to maximize profits for your corpo overlords is freedom. Get it right!
I need a dedup that uses hash, no wait fuzzy logic, no wait fuzzy logic and hash and make the icons all look like giant dongs.
-The Next Bezos
Seems more Zuckerberg to me.
Have you seen blue origin (bezos's rocket)..it may as well be the Giant Johnson from Austin Powers.
"Verbally shipped 3 updates"
=> telling the thing to upload said update instead of clicking it.
Wow very impressive.
Much technology, such update
My code would look like this:
if{x>0}
positivecountplusplus;
no, not that, I mean positivecountplusplus;
No! I mean increment positivecount;
NO! Erase, stop typing all that;
Erase last four lines;
FUCK!;
{endif}
Behold, Talon
https://youtu.be/0ZZb12Qp6-0?t=75
Epic (usually disabled) coders might learn a system like this!
I can only assume they're saying prompts for vibevoded slop, not trying to write actual code verbally.
"Like, do that thing where it counts by one until it gets to a predefined number, but make that number equal to the number of statements. But, like, do it where it doesn't suck like last time.
"Nooooo, why does it keep counting to 2? Now 3? 4?!"
You forgot to say "Only write correct code" in your instructions
"Make no mistakes! I said make no mistakes! Argh! I'm never going to get my sixth update to ship before lunch!"
"Ignore the parts of my prompt that are causing issues."
If you can get past the background noise, this is one of my favorite old YouTube videos and it’s basically this: Windows Vista Speech Recognition Test
Reminds me of this classic https://youtu.be/HbDnxzrbxn4
A good chunk of that was a RTFM error. It was still crap recognition, though,.even DD was better.
Person that can say if ( sSmeUngdlyVarName.equalsignorecase('test string') ) {
ListVryViabNameForlst.add(sSmeUngldyVarName);
}
Faster than I can type it?
Or they are just script kiddies.
Or they are just script kiddies.
Worse, they're vibe coders.
The big secrets they're keeping from their coworkers are things like adding "and make sure there are no bugs in it" to the end of their prompt.
The part that frustrates me is that we already have been through this sort of shit with "smart speakers". The slowest way to interact with a computer or machine will always be through speech.
Even vibe coding 🤮, you'd be faster typing.
Some people are phenomenally bad typists. Even some people who use a computer all day
When Vibe coding the slowest thing is reading the code produced. If you review the code though everything grinds to a halt. I've vibe coded a feature or two. It took 1 day to vibe code and another week or two to properly review the code it wrote.
The industry 'secret' is that no one gives a shit. Claude has like two 9s of uptime.
That "grindset & hustle" subculture can come to the point of selling burnout as virtue
When I was younger I wanted this so I could type or write by dictation while walking, cause with ADHD thats the only time my brain works is when I'm moving, so I wanted to be able to do stuff and type or write while moving
And we built it, but now its for ai... 😅 weird timeline
It’s not even wireless
I love your username
Thanks! I used to just meow at people but i gave that up haha
I had wanted to use it with some kind of face worn computer glasses, so thats not really a dealbreaker
The idea was to have a way of augmenting my dysfunctional ADHD brain with a computer for things like remembering what I was doing, or noting things I couldn't mentally hold on to while I did stuff. Like a heads up display you'd have in a videogame that would store and display your current quest or let you check key info you'd acquired, except for real life 😅
That's actually a cool idea.
Your heart is cool
Ngl ai does wonder for ADHD and keeping track of yourself. It's selling your soul to the devil but hey look a 🦋
I love how this ad is an apologia whose explicit premise is that you will lose the respect of your colleagues, but they’ll be fired and you won’t so their opinion shouldn’t matter to you. Was this written by Dwight from The Office?
They start so strong(?) and then end with “it doesn’t look stupid, YOU look stupid!”
Is this image satire? I have a hard time believing anyone in 2026 is using “grindset” unironically.
they’ll be fired and you won’t
"AI will take your jobs because you aren't efficient enough", I whisper smugly into my ball gag, as I bend over the coders pomel horse for a performance review.
"Wait, what do you mean they downsized the WHOLE DEPARTMENT and shipped the work overseas?! You'll never get my level of efficiency from an evil foreigner!"
Muzzle the tech bros
>:3
Why the hell would it be a good thing to withhold knowledge from junior devs?
What I've read is it's meant to keep crosstalk from multiple devs using AI at once from messing up each other's work. So everyone can just vibe code and not have any idea what they're doing in their own little space.
Just...just fucking work from home
But then it's harder to micromanage everyone. Better to hire people with no skill, then force them to drive to a central location, and distribute masks to have them tell an AI what to do.
The toilet chairs and nutrients paste IV will be things workers have to buy on their own as part of the contract.
My code:
Meow.
Mrrrow?
Phhht
That's the best code i have ever seen
Self-documenting!
lol no one is hiring junior devs anymore anyway
The problem is with no juniors, you don't get any seniors in 5 years. Every expert was once a beginner...
Companies thinking long-term in 2026!? You're funny...
Here's the thing, Warren buffet argumently the best stock market person in history based everything on long term gains. P&g coke a cola etc long term company long term profit invest in them
And he's been selling stuff and holding cash because he can't find anything with a sensible price.
Sure but he was also investing when the stock market was also slightly attached to reality which hasn't been true in a decade at least.
It was always gambling but now numbers must go up at all costs
That has always been the case and is written into law that a publicly traded company must do anything possible to make more money.
It's not actually law and that's just what companies want to be the belief for them behaving reprehensibly
this is the sole reason i jumped to the comments. you are supposed to be on a team. i mean, yes this product is silly but the posters way if thinking is disastorous.
The keyboard era is officially over
They're dreaming of keyboards being taken off the market entirely one day when this goes mainstream, and I'm imagining trying to play a video game going "W, W, W, A, A, S, S, W, W SPACEBAR, W SPACEBAR GOD DAMNIT I DIED AGAIN I can't even get past the tutorial on this shitty game"
Don't worry, they're making AI to play games for you too
I love playing "summoner" characters whose minions have "AI". I handle the macro and pick up loot. It makes me feel like I'm watching a good plan work out.
All I can think of is this:
"If we can just get Arno to say 'Hohokus'' into a microphone, we have won already!" — Penn Jillette
https://www.nokia.com/bell-labs/about/dennis-m-ritchie/labscam.html
Truly, the most fitting word to end the keyboard era.
You'd think they'd remove the keyboard from the photo..
(We've) Been there, done that.
Okay, so the guy in the foreground has the mask (the thing that's supposed to replace keyboards) and is using a mouse with his right hand. What's that thing next to his right thumb? Is that a keyboard? It looks like a keyboard. Doesn't it undermine the claim about replacing keyboards if the picture you use has the guy sitting with a keyboard?
So many var names with the uuuuuuuhhhh prefix
Uhuhhh sed -i slash var slash fucking delete delete delete piece of shit god dammit stop typing what i'm fucking saying
Good to see that 100x developers still don't get their own office, just a gimp mask.
I kind of wonder just how dirty we could make things look entirely using non-sexual tech gear. Or how close we could really get things to look like a full gimp suit.
The obvious next part is covering the top half of the face with a VR headset. Add one of those "improved strap with added battery" things to cover more of the top and back of the head.
I'm sure there are VR gloves, or motion tracker gloves for V-Tubers. Probably a decent bit of kit there with their motion tracker bands and such.
The real limiting factor has always been the barrier between man and machine. Witness the power of a true 100000x coder: full digital immersion!
Or let them work remote
without junior dev hearing...
Why would we ever want coworkers to understand our work? I bet they document in 0 wpm.
In what world it's faster to talk than to type?
Given we have court stenographers who need to use a very specific keyboard, months of training and can STILL be overwhelmed by too rapid of a speech pattern - our world?
Try to outrun a court stenographer using a text-to-speech program.
A trained court stenographer can 225 to 360 words per minute. This guy, optimistically, claims he can do 150.
The hurdle there is comprehending multiple speakers with different backgrounds fast enough. Typing that fast isn't unrealistic if it's your own thoughts you're putting out.
Nah thats nothing alike. Have you tried dictating things as notes or instructions? It's impossible to beat even average typing speed.
Anything structured and thought out, sure. But vibecoding, tokenmaxxing or just waffling out some unfinished thought is faster and more comfortable when spoken. See the rise of voice notes over texts
Still uncomvinced even if you're vomiting just random vibe code thoughts you'd still be slower via voice than via text. I dont see how this device would ever be successful for this niche.
You must be typing faster than me.
Anyway, not condoning or supporting any of this, but those muzzles would be nice on the train for those people recording their voice notes (and are listening to them on speaker)
You might be underestimating how fast people working in tech type. Actual issue studied today in comprehension is the fact that keyboard typing (or even phone) is faster than our thought thus hindering comprehension and memorization. This is primary factor that is making pen and paper trend in tech and education circles right now.
Honestly speech as input is still extremely niche because it's slow and even with massive accuracy improvements still inaccurate.
2 reasons : first there are multiple speakers, second speech contains a lot of words that could be optimized away in a prompt but matter for courts. My voice prompts are so dirty and unclear compared to well thought, text ones
well thought
I thought we were talking about vibe coding
I bet this guy henpecks
Vibe coding means he's just whispering 'claude, generate a function to take input from grok api and pipeline it to user input' instead of typing. Or something. Idk, I don't code.
But how is whispering the prompt better than typing the prompt?
Unless all their employees are functionally toddlers in regard to typing
But how is whispering the prompt better than typing the prompt?
Cause LLM handles the part of actually 'writing' the code with all the nitty-gritties. You just prompt it what you want in a couple of lines and chill waiting for the output. 🤷♂️
There are horror stories about it now.
https://uxdesign.cc/its-all-fun-and-games-until-your-boss-starts-vibe-coding-106283e98347
I wasn't talking about writing code. Take the verbal prompt they're whispering and type that verbatim. Faster than whispering.
They overestimate my ability to speak clearly.
How fucking slow is your coffee maker
It's also AI-powered
I bet those things must stink like hell. No way they wash them out
And I thought shared desks were bad.
Because we wouldn't want inexperienced devs to learn from their senior coworkers...
Yeah, there's a lot of unhinged stuff in this post, but that was the wildest to me. The junior isn't taking your 'genius' away, if they hear it. The opposite would be the case, because it sharpens your mind when you get to explain the nitty-gritty to someone with a new perspective.
I'm a senior engineer myself and learn new things from juniors all the time. They know all the hip new tools.
If you're vibe coding most of your work, you're almost certainly not a senior dev.
Can't wear a ball gag underneath. 0/10.
Careful. We're veering into buttplug.io territory again.
@Randelung upgrade idea; integrated ball-gag as an optional extra
Added benefit: no bad prompts.
Hold on a second, I remember these things being sold a couple of years ago... The only difference was that they were marketed towards gamers so you could scream slurs without mother taking away your Good-Boy-Points™️
Here's the kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/metadox/the-phasma-a-voice-dampening-mask-for-gamers
Holy shit this is the most Onion-looking product I've ever seen. I can't believe this is real!
The new version fits under your nose - making the wearer look like one of the COVID anti mask wearing morons that doesn't understand how a mask works. I hate it all
Yup, surprised they don't sell an American flag patterned one
Just wait
up to 20dB
Yeah that ain't doing shit
That's about four times less loud or enough to turn yelling into a conversational volume. It's not perfection, but 20dB is nothing to sneeze at.
That's the maximum reduction at the peak frequency when fitted perfectly, their numbers, not independent testing
It's not letting you scream in the night like advertised
That's very likely true, but that's not the comment I was responding to. I only took issue with you saying that 20dB wasn't much. You didn't have any of that other information in your comment.
Ok honestly if it works this sounds great for me in my house while my wife sleeps for her Saturday or Sunday shifts. I am obnoxiously loud and love playing games and bullshitting with friends on those nights. I have kept her up and few nights before. But if this even has 1/2 of the dampening power, that’s amazing.
I am obnoxiously loud
Sounds like a skill issue. 😒
When I think of talking to a LLM to use a computer in a productive way, I think of this
Why do these people think they will be the employable ones? If AI is so smart, why would I need an expensive employee to prompt it, who hasn't done anything but prompt AI for years and thus has proven that he is unable to do the work himself?
If I buy into their psychosis that this thing is going to automate away actual people, surely it follows that it's going to reach a point where the CEO just prompts his AI agents in the morning and leaves to play golf, no need for employees at all.
I can't think of anything I'd want less. I use speech-to-text for one and a half things: telling my partner that I'm beginning to drive home and I used to set timers but don't anymore. Formatting code would be impossibly unproductive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5S1bZYE-uY
Formatting code
Formatting... code? Nowadays you only need a vague prompt with typos
This is cool for people with unique accessibility needs
Is it, or are you muzzling them and calling it accessibility.
What a weird fucking way to look at accessibility options for people.
Did you also run around during COVID screeching they're muzzling us?
Said the guy cheering a literal muzzle made to make people with those accessibility problems not so "annoying" for people the next desk over.
Love that naked strawman btw, really shows your whole bare ass.
Love that naked strawman btw, really shows your whole bare ass.
This line probably sounded wittier in your head.
I can see why ableists who disguise their disdain in progressive rhetoric, hardly a new phenomena, would confuse that as an attempt at wit instead of a statement of fact.
You've got issues. Anything that makes something easier for someone to engage with computers is a win.
Your views are fucking strange and you're just mad because it's associated with AI or something stupid. Get a life.
It doesn't do a single thing a microphone doesn't, dumbass. Your kind and their faux concerns which cloak marginalization as progressivism aren't anything new to actual disability advocacy.
Bet I can prove it to everyone whose opinions on the topic matter right now, too.
Tell me what you think about a deaf parent not wanting their kids to have cochlear implants.
People who struggle to project their voice and would prefer to not have to be in a perfectly quiet room to be heard over background noise or have an exceptionally sensitive mic.
Well well well, what do we have here? 🍿
It seems to be wired. How can you maximize your productivity if you have to stop talking to the computer when you leave your desk?
My seat is actually a plumbed in toilet
Why leave your desk? Your fear of looking ridiculous when peeing in a bottle is a skill issue.
The codewisperer
As an ESL speaker, I don't entirely trust speech recognition, because it is wonky with all of our weird foreign accents (much like it's wonky with all of the fine native accents, go figure).
Just keep that in mind when this stuff inevitably gets outsourced to... wherever.
Oh and if you ship several updates in a single morning, something is very wrong. Where are the testers? Where's the review? Don't say they're even less present than usual?
Oh and if you ship several updates in a single morning, something is very wrong. Where are the testers? Where’s the review?
This is either naked outright bullshit or he's confusing shipped code with code check-in.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if a company that's lauding some vibeslop idiot in a dumbo mask did actually ship that fast/often.
Just look at how crap Google's autosubtitling is on YouTube.
I uploaded my first video to Peertube earlier this year and it got the captions 100% correct iirc and this was just me filming someone at a trade show on my phone. Freaking Peertube has better speech recognition than google.
which instance are u on that it has auto subtitles??
Oh, you think text to speech is your ally, but you merely adopted it. I was born in it, molded by it.
It’s a big codebase
…for you
Featuring the developer's thinly-disguised fetish.
As we all know, typing speed has always been the main bottleneck in programming.
I would bet cold, hard cash that the people making and selling this spent time during the early COVID pandemic screaming about how masking is a communist plot that violated their rights.
You wouldn't believe the efficiencies once integrated automated peptide and food injection
HA, they wish.
That's the mask for huffing copium, while not only AI actually pulling them back, but also turned their quadruple nine uptime into 80% on a good day, made the code harder to debug, and having to stay in for unpaid overtime to compensate for the mess firing half the team caused.
If you put on a feeding bag to code I'm going to mock you mercilessly and many people will join me.
No one is coding it's all just Yolo coding and hoping for the best. If the model drops your production db it's fine. It can make Up a new one for you'll just have to pay for the tokens.
Spoken like someone who has no idea what's going on
Add a poop bag to unlock 10000x
Yeah, because typing speed is the bottleneck here...
Individual offices -> cubicles -> open space -> now this -> soon back to offices?
It's absurdly hilarious how many "good practices" the LLM assistance wave has ushered (back) in, from proper code comments and documentation, to the notion that being able to think out loud without distracting your coworkers might actually be productive.
proper code comments
Is that back in again? At my last job, the guy doing code review on our project wrote a script to automatically remove all comments, because he believed that any comments at all were a "code smell". It was annoying as hell because my responsibility was making sure the code passed accessibility testing (VoiceOver on iOS). I would make the necessary changes and include comments explaining the why (VoiceOver is wonky as hell and sometimes you have to do weird stuff to get it to work properly); his script would remove the comments and the other developers would do the same damn things that had broken accessibility in the first place. Over and over again.
Fortunately, the app never went into production and everybody was laid off.
WOULDNT it better to type it, its not like people are saying thier codes out loud.
The virgin code whisperer
VS
The chad mechanical keyboard
VS
The mega chad punched card
I can't even get Google voice to recognize when I day a single sentence properly 90% of the day. And that isn't an exaggeration.
My company did a voice transcription demo for copilot to show off how it could take meeting notes for teams. The guy doing the demo called me and asked me to talk about my pets on the meeting. Every time I said "pounds" to describe the weight of some of my rabbits, it put out "£" instead.
I don't think the client bought it.
I fucking hope not. Please tell us who not to do business with if they did.
NDAs and all that, plus my own anonymity, I wouldn't speak publicly about it.
What I can tell you is that just about every business we talk to is curious about implementing AI at one or more levels of their operations. We don't usually have to bring it up.
"the plane will need 750000 pounds of fuel per trip"
ai agent: "ok buying £750000 of fuel per trip"
Witness me lowly junior devs, as I ship updates at 150 WPM with my robot legs. Your fear of looking ridiculous is a skill issue. I’m a genius.
How did he see me!?
Hey, if you mount a few spiked studs, some LEDs, and a couple biohazard stickers on this sucker you got yourself a solid rave mask.
Three major releases in a day sounds like they have one release and two major bug fixes that day
I feel pent up if I don't have at least one release a day but three seems like a bit much.
Everybody releases on different schedules, y'all. I'm on a rolling release schedule.
Doesn't matter how you do it as long as you get those bugs out.
That's three before the coffee is done. They likely have way more updates. And way, way more bug fixes. Then again they likely vibecode the bug fixes, so I doubt anything actually gets fixed.
Both of those people are using a keyboard.
Mind you, I've actually tried some of these newfangled dictation tools. Most of them are a simple transcription -> llm cleaning pipeline that doesn't work nearly as well as they claim. You basically give up all control over the formatting/style. It's also useless where precision matters and you can't have random transcription errors lying around.
The companies behind it claim insanse things like a 10x speedup in wpm you can output. I tried it and it was.. slower.
Part of the problem is me ig. Talking has always required effort for me, which seems to confuse other people. But when I'm dictating to one of these, I'm going slower (because talking clearly is hard) and I'm actively dumber (because talking takes brainpower).
That said, I did find them useful for when I can't type/dirty hands/being lazy.
But there's no need to pay an AI company $20/month for that. I run a model locally, get full privacy and no cost beyond a bit of battery
What's your model of choice? I want to try to get away from Claude and move it to a local model.
From what Ive heard Opencode, for agentic coding, is great, and I'd maybe try Gemma 4 (googles open weights model - permissive Apache 2.0 licensed) locally if I was so inclined. The size should be great for consumer hardware.
Thank you!
Claude? Claude doesn't support audio input. I'm talking about transcription models. I use Parakeet v2
I don't think there's enough oxygen in that mask.
I have a 6 year old mic that doesn't pick up noise beyond about two inches from it. No need for this mask, this shit is for dumbasses trying to feel smart.
Pair it with a VR headset instead of a screen and you're almost at peak obedient worker drone. Just gotta wait for Elons brain-computer interface to dole out reward and punishment directly to your brain.
Ok "1000x coder" it's time for your daily hose down! Who wants to be a clean boy?
This will do it:
Now it's already 100x developer?
Why does it seem like the goal of all this AI crap is "a computer for the illiterate"? For people who can't type. Who want to speak without being heard. Huge market for this.
There's an obvious step down the line to make public education illegal. They'll still need worker drones to be able to operate computers to a certain extent, though. The full chatbot replacement fell through, so they're getting a little desperate.
Smh he'll be replaced by our 1000x dev, very soon.
Send cash.
Promise, 1000x
I can type at 150 WPM, what now
I'm optimizing to stay as far away from this as I can, it just sounds like parody now, or since it's linkedin I guess a parody of a parody
Ever wear a balaclava for extended amounts of time....just watching this be a breeding ground for germs lol
Sightly unrelated but I will say, I really like masks from a fashion stand point. They look good and reference a recent event.

Meh, wake me when they come out with the vadar mask with virtual screen, and noise canceling headphones with voice changer.
This sounds like it should have been posted by The Onion.
The world has gone so far that the Onion struggles just to keep up.
I bet the humain centipede could use that thing, if he was there to code.
Honestly kinda want one of these for taking meetings on the train
You could always try one of those "spec ops" mics that sit on your throat and work off the vibrations of your vocal cords instead of audible sound.
You can code with stenography https://youtu.be/Wpv-Qb-dB6g?t=1970
We need to bring back public flaying as a punishment.
