ChapotraphouseOn this day in 1789, a crowd of nearly one thousand protesters stormed the Bastille in Paris, France, a major event in the French Revolution, commemorated annually as "Bastille Day".
In the months running up to the uprising, the people of France were facing a dire economic crisis, food shortage, and increased militarization of Paris on orders of King Louis XVI. The Bastille was an armory and prison, perceived by many as a symbol of royal authority in the city.
On the morning of July 14th, a crowd of approximately one thousand people surrounded the Bastille, calling for the surrender of the prison, the removal of its cannon, and the release of the arms and gunpowder stored there.
After negotiations stalled, the crowd surged into the courtyard of the Bastille and were fired upon by troops in the garrison. In the carnage that followed, ninety-eight protesters and one defender of the Bastille were killed.
Governor Marquis de Launay, fearing his troops could not hold out, capitulated to the crowd and opened up the Bastille doors. He was captured and dragged towards the Hôtel de Ville in a storm of abuse. While the crowd debated his fate, the badly beaten Launay shouted "Enough! Let me die!", kicked a pastry cook in the groin, and was then promptly stabbed to death.
As news of the successful seizure of the Bastille spread throughout the country, revolutionaries established parallel structures of power for government and militias for civic protection, burned deeds of property, and in some cases attacked wealthy landlords.
King Louis XVI first learned of the storming the next morning through the Duke of La Rochefoucauld. "Is it a revolt?" asked the King. The duke replied: "No sire, it's not a revolt; it's a revolution."

I have a question. Is the intro to the simpsons a new day each time it plays. Because they’re all doing somewhat the same things yet bits of it are different. I am about to get scammed by AI. I am seeing adds for a company that for a small fee uses an AI to spam credit agencies and maybe gets your stuff deleted.

There have been some gaming posts that have been in my head for a while, but I haven't had the courage or desire to write them out properly. Most of them are Dynasty Warriors related since I have broken into about averageish on Three Kingdom history.
Some examples:
A rebuttal against a casual notion that the Cao Wei faction were "evil" during DW2 - DW5 before Koei decided to make them more heroic in DW6.
Another was to examine Liu Bei's motivations in Dynasty Warriors, how they started, and how they differ between each entry and in the Romance novel and conjecture on why Koei moved away from his Romance motivation: revive the Han Dynasty.
Okay, I had to revise this comment because I wrote too way much trying to explain everything so I just made it snappier as to not fill up the screen too much already.

I'm getting pretty convinced of the angle that Graham got vapourised by a missile in Ukraine. There was a discrepancy of a day around when he visited and when the place got hit, and he was meant to go on Meet The Press not long after. Since he had other commitments booked after his staff had to think up something fast to explain why he couldn't go on and explains the vague "sudden illness" excuse for the people that get the best medical care. I’m so autistic I hit an overflow error and rolled back to neurotypical.
Every so often I think about the Primordial Soup™ and the "first" things that evolved in it.
They probably would have started to evolve after a couple hundred generations. There could have been that one single "original" species alone in the puddle for maybe a month, if that.
I could be wrong but I thought that the movement from the base components for life to life was a bit fuzzier than that, like the first thing that happens is that proteins are created which react with elements in the environment to replicate themselves, and those proteins became more complicated with time, meaning that it can't really be cleanly stated when life as we know it begins because it turns out everything is a spectrum all the time.
Yeah I was thinking that too, the last comment was more of an "even if there was" sort of speculation.
