When the pilot instructor said "you know what to do", he meant for the trainee to go into a controlled dive along side him (leading to him returning to the plane in a most spectacular stunt). Way to drop the ball.

Guy had to jump to get away from her yappin'. My wife's the same way about drinking fermented wheat and watching sports ball. Am I right fellas?

She wasn’t really a student?

She already had a private pilot license but was required to build up flying hours with an instructor it seems. The article still refers to her as a student.

I admire her skills, no doubt about that. But some papers exaggerate a teenyweeny bit to sell copies, I’m sure the pilot was cool about the landing- the trauma of somebody committing suicide like that in front of you is terry.

The world is never the same once you learn, with your whole soul, that genuinely anyone at any time might just look at you, give a forced smile, and fucking jump into the blender. The world is both much louder and much more quiet.

This is usually what I would think of when I hear student pilot. Most of them just need enough hours and know how to fly just fine.
