Opinion: Both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal recently ran opinion pieces essentially preaching "gay is respectable, queer is the problem." It's not helpful, writes Josh Ackley.

Because they are owned by the wrong people.

The same paper that invented the October 7 mass rape narrative? Or had a Berlin office claiming that Hitler was A-ok to the Jews in 1938?

Because americas largest newspapers are rags owned by the wealthy.

The opinion published by the NYT mention the intolerance from religious communities. And references the author's involvement in the Reformation Project, which is a christian group that aims to be inclusive of gay, bi, trans people.

It seems like they're trying to make LGBT people more chrurch-friendly by silencing queerness. Rather than making the church more queer friendly.

I’m ignorant, and I hope someone can clue me in: what does “queer” actually mean in this context? The dictionary is useless.

Not a conservative gay I believe. Too left to be respectable.

So, in general, queer people are cool and don’t want to take away the rights of others.

It sounds to me like this, overall, is actually a good thing. Conservatives are beginning to acknowledge that they have lost their fight against “sexual deviance” as a whole, and are now reduced to arguing about what kinds of sexual orientation are acceptable. Let them play their word games.

no its not a good thing theyre trying to erode acceptance of queerness in general. right now theyre making an exception for gay people, but that is temporary. in time they will stop making that exception.

Your submission in "Why are America's largest newspapers stigmatizing queer people?" was removed for "Please don't!".

“Please don’t” is less than constructive criticism. It would be more helpful if you gave better guidance.
