Luckily, then Supreme Leader Trump came and ended this woke madness!
Ok, but I don't think people should ever be allowed in it.
Why tho?
You should lead by example.
Why should anyone see you in public? At all???
No reason for anyone to suffer your visage is there?
It’s supposed to be a REFLECTING pool. Not a narrow ass judgement pool.
Sure and when you're at Yellowstone or RMNP, just ignore the trails and walk wherever you want, yeah? This is the attitude I can't stand on the left. "Everyone can do whatever they want! Celebrate everything different, even if it means breaking reasonable rules!" It's awfully close to the right where they're like "fuck you, I do what I want! Your reasonable rules don't apply to me! Freedom! Liberty!"
It's a reflecting pool, not a swimming pool. Have some respect.
People hiking off trails is….the woke left?
Hahahahahaha…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hahahahahaha
Thanks I needed that.
Absolutely not what I was saying and you know it. It was their argument that was "woke" and I compared it to a similar but opposing view from Republicans, where they justify ignoring social rules for different reasons. Both celebrate individualism. But your reply was lazier than everyone else dogpiling me here. You really put a lot of effort into that one, didn't ya?
Honestly, there is quite a problem, especially on the libertarian socialist side, with lifestyle anarchists.
You need discipline for a revolution.

That strawman you built would get very soggy if you dropped it into the reflecting pool.
They're all managed by the national parks. It's a comparison, not a strawman. Museums, national parks, national monuments, stay where you're supposed to. Look, don't touch.
Yellowstone or Rocky Mountain National Park are natural wonders very much in nature and its critically important to protect them and the wildlife there from human actions with rules. No one here is suggesting (and certainly not "the left") that these natural wonders should be abused or unprotected. That's your strawman.
Look, don’t touch.
That is a silly statement to make with your argument. Many areas in National parks are absolutely fine to touch and walk on.
That's my point is that the areas that are ok to walk on and touch, are the trails. Tundra is very delicate. And the last few times I've been to RMNP most people were on the trails, doing the right thing. But a non-insignificant amount were ignoring the signs and the norms of the rest of the people. One group I saw did it for the sake of a selfie with a good view that didn't include other people.
The point is what makes someone so self important that they can ignore everything around them saying not to do something, and doing it anyway? Sorry if my argument comes off as a strawman? But my ADHD makes me explain things in comparisons, metaphors and analogies. I'm not some authoritarian that says all rules exist for a reason and you're not to question it, but I feel there's a difference between smoking weed for self care, and just disrespecting everything and everyone around you. There's very few things where I'm like "follow the rules" but this one is kind of a sticking point for me. It's like sticking your finger in a bowl of dip at a party. You just fucking don't do that, I'm sorry.
That’s my point is that the areas that are ok to walk on and touch, are the trails. Tundra is very delicate.
That's MY point. The Reflecting Pool is a man-made tourist attraction that has been change/upgraded/downgrade(by trump) many times in its history. Its concrete and rebar. It is not a natural wonder, yet you are putting it in the same category as delicate nature. I'm not arguing that people should be walking in the Reflecting Pool, but its not hurting nature to do it. You're mixing actions that DO hurt nature and DON'T hurt nature as equal. That's part of your strawman.
But a non-insignificant amount were ignoring the signs and the norms of the rest of the people. One group I saw did it for the sake of a selfie with a good view that didn’t include other people.
Ah, so because those people broke a rule, they must be "the left"? There is zero information in the photo of the reflecting-pool-walkers what their political affiliation is, but not only do you paint them as your opposition, you then blame others (also where you have no idea their political affiliation) in other parks with the same crimes. Thats another part of your strawman.
Sorry if my argument comes off as a strawman? But my ADHD makes me explain things in comparisons, metaphors and analogies.
Then I apologize too if I was coming on too strong, but your argument is making some unfair comparisons. Your injection of your personal political position blaming a complete unsubstantiated group ( your "the left" blame) is a bit unhinged. I understand the desire and effectiveness of using a comparison, but that comparison must be equal enough to not invalidate that comparison. This is the "compare and contrast" exercise from grade school.
Compare: Littering and murder are both crimes.
Contrast: The distance of similarity between these two crimes are extremely far apart. As such, the punishment for littering should not be equal to that for murder.
So yes, all three of your examples are national parks, but not all three should be treated/protected in exactly the same ways or to the same degrees. If I saw a person throwing a used food wrapper on the ground in Yellowstone or RMNP and a park ranger was nearby but didn't see it, I'd alert the ranger. If I saw the same at the reflecting pool I wouldn't. The impact of a food wrapper in mostly unspoiled nature is severe, while the same act in a heavily populated national capital is just a Tuesday.
No one is swimming in it.
No shit, it's not deep enough. But you also don't see people being this disrespectful to ancient or medieval fountains in Europe.
You're right in theory but goddamn you went off the rails with that boogie man you invented
