Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ to Skip Social Media Influencer Screenings

Good. Those freeloading social media influencers can just go away already. Buy Pepsi.
I can't wait to watch this and have no idea what is happening thanks to another terrible sound mix.
And because Christopher Nolan assumes everyone knows what he knew about the events. He sucks at nonfiction.
You know it's not based in actual events right?
The Odyssey is a fiction novel.
Oh?
Unsure if joking, yeah, it's a fiction.
It's the famous one with the witch that turns people into animals, and the Cyclops that Oddyseus tells his name is "Nobody"
I hope it's not like Tenet. I like his movies, but that one was very rough. Even Robert Pattinson had no idea what was going on.
Nolan's kind of a dick for a lot of reasons but this is the right fucking move.
Maybe... But letting less people see it early is what you do when you think your movie is going to suck. Alternately, when you think "The people won't understand your art".
Influencers are unlikely to pass harsh judgment in cases like this because they think that their fancy business trips are a reward and they don’t want to miss on the next ones. Their opinions are worthless.
No, influencer screenings preempting professional reviewers are what you do when you want to artificially generate hype from undiscriminating fans. The article I don't think you read even points this out:
The move bucks the trend of studios getting ahead of professional reviews by inviting fan-site bloggers and influencers to see major releases in advance and then letting them post (often highly enthusiastic) mini reviews on social media.
That's a fair take, he may be doing it for the wrong reasons... but I'm just on a "fuck all influencers" bandwagon and always have been, so stopped clock and all that.
I am sure there will be some great writing and acting in the movie, but we will never know because it will be drowned out by the "score"
I am sure the cinematography will be great, but I will be too busy reading the subtitles.
🤣
From what I recall the in-cinema viewings were all nicely calibrated, and my home theater setup similarly performs well enough. Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses. Time to rewatch a few.
Valid point about the score - most of his movies have music playing constantly - but I've watched all his movies and the writing is always pretty bad.
His brother wrote the iconic line from his second Batman movie
"You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain"
Word has it that Christopher Nolan didn't even really understand the line. Which doesn't shock me since his writing is so bad.
Well, I'm not gonna go watch this one, anyways. I'm waiting for Werwulf instead.
The answer is, both please!
No reason to have to choose.
I guess I should have disclosed that I am a low key Nolan-hater. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but I have never really connected with his movies. The concepts are always cool, but the way he writes characters just never clicks with me xD
But hey, I hope you'll enjoy this one! And I hope we will both enjoy Werwulf.
This year is also a bit nuts when it comes to new movies coming out, that are actually worth watching. I can't remember the last time a year had more than one worthwhile movie to go see in the cinema, but this year has several. I can't wait for October, to go see Wildwood. And right now I am struggling with whether I should go rewatch Obsession, go watch Backrooms or go see the new Robin Hood movie. I don't know what to do, lol.

It is! I've got 19 theater trips so far this year. In 26 weeks. Well ahead of even my normal.
That's crazy @,@ what movies have you watched so far this year and which ones do you recommend and don't recommend? :D
Recommendations:
Backrooms
Sheep Detectives
The Drama
They Will Kill You
Project Hail Marry
Solo Mio
Send Help
28 Years Later
Don't bother unless you're a fan:
Masters of the Universe
Mandolorain & Grogu
Devil Wears Prada 2
I don't remember them at all, but seems I saw them:
How to Make a Killing
Mercy
Don't really care it's going to be shit one way or another.
There's no way for you to know that.
Watch before deciding, always.
The next Asylum film could be a masterpiece!
The movie could be great but Nolan is trending towards pretentious plots and scores that drown out dialogue. I personally expect it will be a mediocre experience.
At least we have his earlier films where they were convoluted but fun and you could hear what was happening.
Yes because Christopher Nolan is known for being a terrible director who never makes good movies at all. 😂
I swear to god you edge cases are so goddamn stupid it's not even funny.
he is known for being terrible at sound balancing and being an elitist douche about it. whether you can say that it makes an otherwise good movie bad, well thats hard to say.
I'm not saying he's a bad director, i'm saying THIS one is going to be shit you fucking moron!
