Americans
They don't even get that though. The libs weren't getting $300 billion for themselves. They don't organize or demand anything, they just serve capital and their chosen electoral political faction.
They're just pretending to partake in a dunk on the electoral political faction they aren't in. They see the image of Trump with a silly face and the headline and think, "yes".
Yet again, that $300B is not money that's being given to Iran, it's stolen funds that are being returned to Iran. You aren't "awarding" money that's given back to someone after you steal it, it's just un-stealing it.
The US beat a kid up and took his lunch money, and now it's giving some of the lunch money back.
Think of how many data centers we could have paid for with that money
one?
I'm really getting the vibes that libs feel like they didn't get their money's worth of destruction.
What they don't get is that this also serves as a way to reverse dedollarization to some degree.
Basic understanding of politics will tell anyone the US Prez doesn't have the power to give Iran $300b from public funds as its not appropriated by the Congress.
Its funds are provided by gulf and other countries' private sector.
Regardless, it doesn't matter. Israel gets hundreds of billions EACH YEAR from BOTH US public and private sector. Unfortunately, the socdems and even many on the left only focus on the public sector part of it when most of the $ Israel receives are from private sector.
It's my understanding the funds aren't even a direct lump payment, but rather, they take the form of sanctions being eased between Iran and US allied Gulf states
Misconception : iran is getting american tax money.
Wrong answer: actually us government is not paying this. This is paid by gulf countries and... (bunch of nerd stuff)
Right answer: good. Unlimited genocide on amerikkkan tax money. Hopefully they pay 300 trillion dollars next time
The destruction of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia together easily amounts to trillions.
Right answer: good. Unlimited genocide on amerikkkan tax money. Hopefully they pay 300 trillion dollars next time
the order is the other way around, but it's not clear to me if marshal planning Iran would even be inflationary
joe biden owes me $2000
Dang, I wonder what happened in that foreign country after Trump started some war. They sound so unrelated.
"You broke it you bought it" thought being applied fittingly
dw im sure hes just going to pocket it, say iran pocketed it, and continue bombing iran
Yes if you remove most context like who started the war we can be mad at liberals for some reason
it's small potatoes but i would prefer if liberals would attack trump from the left instead of from the right.
The culprit of the war is the combined efforts of the American state since 1979. Also the efforts of America to merge itself with the interests of the Zionist entity. Do you think Trump simply appeared out of nowhere, fell out of a coconut tree? He's the result of decades of the machinations of American empire. The only difference between the liberal and conservative machines is that liberals claim it's actually humanitarian whey they overthrow foreign countries.
The point is not to defend conservatives, it's that the reaction liberals are having is making themselves the victims of the aggressive war prosecuted in their name and for their benefit (and which many of their leaders actually still support, mind).
The US owes Iran reparations for the crimes it committed. The crimes are the travesty, not the transfer of funds.
Or simply if the war didn't happen we wouldn't waste all this money
Ok but the war happened so it is useless to complains. Actions against Trump should happen and accept that Iran deserve compensations
The US has been poised for a major attack on Iran since 2003. In that time we have had 3 Democratic administrations and 2 Democratic Congressional sessions. They did not turn away from military expansion in the slightest.
Republicans do the big visible war crimes, and Democrats enable and justify it.
The US is wealthy precisely due to imperialism! This isn’t an aberration! This kind of war (or threat of it) is where the money comes from, along with financial means like sanctions and predatory lending policy. Liberals have to be called out for imagining this is a special circumstance and not the status quo that included Biden and Obama.
Well sure, but the sentiment in the post is that it's not America First to pay reparations as part of making peace. The alternative to paying for peace now would be to continue the war. I think it's a very good thing for the US to pay reparations to Iran for decades of crimes committed against the country, although I agree that the US also shouldn't have attacked Iran.
I think it's gauche to act like the reparations are costing Americans as if there would be social benefits to normal people here if we weren't paying them.
I think it's ok to point out this was all a big waste, I know some Democrats suck but this isn't the meme to write a screed
Calling it a waste misses the point like calling a mass shooting a waste of bullets. Yeah it's a bad use for bullets, but that's because it's a heinous act of terroristic mass violence, not because it wasn't profitable.
If someone has a theory that can better explain the facts of the world than what they see posted around, it's nice to share it. Every particular failure of liberalism to explain reality leaves a gap that can be filled with a better explanation. In this case, the theory partially put forth seeks to put Trump and the current failures of his administration as an aberration and a departure from a normative, desirable state of American politics where things like this do not happen. Such a state is a myth. There is no world where the US federal government would put $300B in funds toward anything we would remotely call good.
Many presidents have not attacked Iran even though I'm sure there was pressure to, I would say that is somewhat different
The thing that is “somewhat different” is that time has moved forward and circumstances have changed. The US empire is declining and the Global South is on the rise. Time is running out before it becomes impossible for the US to maintain its position in West Asia, if it was even possible at the beginning of 2026.
I believe that Biden would have escalated with Iran, possibly militarily. It was reported, shortly before Trump’s transition, that Biden was considering options to strike Iran if they develop a nuclear weapon. I think that phrasing leaves a lot unsaid, because realistically what it means is that Biden considered striking Iran on the same pretense that Trump used, a pretense that we know is false.
Biden tried to force Trump into certain geopolitical stances on Ukraine, Iran, Russia, China, and probably others (Venezuela?) by escalating where necessary, eliminating any pivot.
All this is beside the point anyway. It does not matter if Trump is a special, unique little man who truly changed the direction of thought (lol) inside the state. The “waste” of billions of dollars is not important to anyone who cares about the human beings who felt the lethal side of that expenditure. The “waste” is by design, for the purpose of graft to the MIC. If this $300B was a waste, then so is every dollar we already spend normally, because its purpose is for graft.
Money isn't a thing. Is Iran going to buy us goods and services using these funds? If so, Iran gains real stuff, US loses real stuff. The idiotic Americans would see it as a win because it reduces trade deficits even though Real flow is in favor of Iran.
Also note Iran lost access to foreign resources due to sanctions imposed by the US. This is only reversing part of it.
like who started the war
Israel, the country that only continues to exist as is because of the eternal American money funnel, used American weapons, that they should've stopped receiving since Biden, to not only start this war but ruin negotiation attempts, all while Trump just let them
If Biden (and every president before him) had cut all support to Israel, none of this would've happened
Meanwhile we could have made it clear we were NOT going to join Israel in a war against Iran and that they would be on their own, but instead Trump moved air carriers within lesson teaching range of Iran
Context doesn't favor libs
The usa and israel did the biggest military exercice aimed at Iran during Biden
