That's just bad software design. If somebody already installed the app there's absolutely no reason to send them to the app store. It's like sending them to your login page when they're already logged in. Or diverting them to the login page on the way to doing something, and then after they login going to the main page instead of going on to what they were trying to do. What can I say, there's a lot of mediocre code running out there.

Anyone that hoards over $50 million USD in wealth should be drawn and quartered. Just use ATVs rather than horses so no unintended animal abuse happens.

But also, not everything needs a damn app. "Why visit our website, imdb.com, to get the information you need when you need it without any overhead on your device? Instead you can download the imdb app, have a nearly identical experience as the website, but also we can take up storage on your phone, push stupid notifications and steal your data!"

I've found 2 tools that help - browser apps that present websites like apps: Hermit and Native Alpha.

They don't fix the "open in app" problem because they don't register as a particular app, but you can create a shortcut that launches a url like it's an app.

I no longer use my bank's app, but their website via Hermit. Really cuts down on (shitty) app installs.

Just "open in app" links in general. Your app is probably some shitty web app anyways, so why force me onto it? (I know, it's the data harvesting)
