The ceasefire appears to be at least temporarily over, with an exchange of fire between (what appears to be) predominantly Iran and the entity, though as always I expect we'll find increasing evidence of direct US involvement.
The chain of events was as follows, in spoilers below for those who haven't been keeping up:
::: spoiler chain of events summary
-
A while ago, Iran warned the occupation entity that if they strike Beirut (with particular emphasis on its southern suburbs, which is an area where Hezbollah officials/structures are concentrated as I understand it) then they will directly strike the north of Occupied Palestine, turning the area into a military zone, and encouraged settlers to leave to avoid civilian casualties.
-
This warning was grudging accepted by the entity, who ordinarily has a policy called the Daniyeh Doctrine, in which they murder civilians en masse by bombing apartment buildings and houses in enemy cities in order to pressure the military forces they are battling to give into conditions they ordinarily would not be obliged to accept, because the Zionist ground campaigns are usually fairly ineffective at achieving goals on medium to long timescales. While removing their ability to bomb Beirut didn't halt the Daniyeh Doctrine entirely (they could and did hit other places), their distinct inability to strike the capital when they ordinarily could do that freely was a big source of discontentment in both the civilian population and the military.
-
As Hezbollah increasingly attrited the Zionist offensive forces, the attractiveness of bombing Beirut in retaliation increased regardless of the consequences, and of course the Zionists do still want to do anything they can to attack and weaken Iran directly and are much worse at hiding this than even the US. This resentment culminated on June 7th, where the Zionists conducted an airstrike on Beirut on a Hezbollah HQ.
-
Iran immediately said that this constituted a break in the ceasefire, and Khamenei put Iran back on a full war footing. Within 6 hours of the strike on Beirut, Iranian missiles were flying towards the northern occupied territories, in what they regarded as merely a warning shot. Western media was obviously fairly dismissive of this; 182% interception rates and all that jazz, but we have several videos of missiles hitting targets.
-
Trump publicly warned the Zionists to not respond, which many sensible people immediately diagnosed as kayfabe, and Iran obviously remained on guard against a counterattack. This came a few hours later from Zionist drones and stand-off strikes from aircraft likely in Iraqi airspace, just like in the initial phase of the war months ago. These hit sites in western and central Iran, including a petrochemical facility, but also with some interceptions.
-
Iran then responded to this counterattack with a yet bigger warning shot into the occupied territories. Ansarallah also joined in with strikes on the Zionists, and they additionally announced that the Red Sea is now closed to all vessels linked directly to the entity. Certain accounts have said that the Bab el Mandab is now actually under full blockade, but this is not clearly substantiated as of me writing this at about 2pm BST, June 8th. There's been a lot of "considering closing" and "threatening to close" and "moving to close" the Red Sea over the ceasefire period that hasn't materialized, so I don't want to get out over my skis. :::
Worth noting that according to Yves over at Naked Capitalism (a fairly reliable and left-leaning, but not communist, website), we're now about a month or so away from reaching "tank bottom". This is largely because commercial demand destruction has not sufficiently occurred due to oil price market manipulations keeping it low, and also because there have been basically no government policies in the US like widespread work-from-home orders. So, soon the shortages will be of the literal oil molecules not being available and not just the price signal. So there's an increasing anxiety in the US to get this conflict over before the economy really starts to crash in the latter half of the year, one way or another. As a deal seems only increasingly unlikely given US stubborness and inability to accept battlefield realities, a return to military strikes as we've seen appears the only way forward, despite almost catastrophic munitions shortages.

- ROBERTO SANCHEZ (LEFTIST): 49.99% (+ 0.01%) - 8.777.982 votes
Sanchez needs 3.264 votes + one vote to pass Keiko.
They are now counting the Foreign Votes
it's happening
Right abt where Castillo passed her too
CMONCMONCMONCMONNNNN
Well, inevitably the ONPE count has slowed down, and it will be hours before we have any relevant updates. I remind you that there are 5 interesting voting blocs in the remaining 6,153 polling stations:
- Overseas: 2,543 (41%) — favorable to Keiko
- Rural Amazon: 1,364 (22%) — tie
- Lima and Callao: 992 (16%) — favorable to Keiko
- VRAEM: 598 (10%) — strong Sánchez lead
- Southern Andes: 184 (3%) — strong Sánchez lead
- Other: 472 (8%) — slight Sánchez lead
Lol its a 4k votes difference now
Fucked up that people who doesn't even fucking live in the country get to decide something.
The tally sheets from abroad are already starting to arrive, and the difference isn't the landslide victory Fujimori's supporters predicted. At most, they'll gain a final advantage of around 40,000 votes.
Peruvian Elections Update Reloaded:
93.53 % of the Vote Counted
- KEIKO FUJIMORI (FAR-RIGHT): 50.02 % (- 0.02%) - 8.770.894 votes
- ROBERTO SANCHEZ (LEFTIST): 49.97% (+ 0.01%) - 8.762.494 votes
Sanchez needs 8.400 votes + one vote to pass Keiko.
This is a fucking nail biter
our boy is so close
Peruvian Elections Update Reloaded:
93.53 % of the Vote Counted
- KEIKO FUJIMORI (FAR-RIGHT): 50.02 % (= 0.00%) - 8.772.373 votes
- ROBERTO SANCHEZ (LEFTIST): 49.98% (+ 0.01%) - 8.765.384 votes
Sanchez needs 6.989 votes + one vote to pass Keiko.
The only thing worrying me rn is the foreign vote that they still haven't count
How many voters is that
2,543 Actas = 300,000 - 500,000 votes I believe
Peruvian Elections Update Reloaded:
93.61 % of the Vote Counted
- KEIKO FUJIMORI (FAR-RIGHT): 50.01 % (- 0.01%) - 8.774.506 votes
- ROBERTO SANCHEZ (LEFTIST): 49.98% (+ 0.01%) - 8.768.500 votes
Sanchez needs 6.006 votes + one vote to pass Keiko.
They are now counting the Foreign Votes
- 8,7 million * 2 = 17,4 million
- 17,4 million * ( 1 / 94%) = 18,5 million
- 18,5 million - 17,4 million = 1,1 million
Right, so this is going to take a while.
Expect a little boost to Keiko (around 0.15% - 0.09%) but Sanchez should regain those around 98% of the votes.
We have disrupted the equation of a ceasefire on paper and its repeated violations in the field.
As long as you lack the genuine will to build trust, Iran's response will be exactly this.
Peruvian Elections Update Reloaded:
93.40 % of the Vote Counted
- KEIKO FUJIMORI (FAR-RIGHT): 50.04 % (- 0.04%) - 8.765.590 votes
- ROBERTO SANCHEZ (LEFTIST): 49.96% (+ 0.04%) - 8.750.503 votes
Sanchez needs 15.087 votes + one vote to pass Keiko.
I love liberal democracy! Every 4-5 years we roll the dice on: the newest Hitler models, non-Hitlers who will nonetheless side with a Hitler, and the lone socdem that will be beset by terrorist actions from domestic and international opposition if elected.
Best system in the world, those poor Chinese people will never understand our freedom.
Brings me back to the Bernie times in the ol' Chapo sub.
I can't wait until next year when the votes are all counted!
NYT - As Israel and Iran traded strikes on Monday, the latest data on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz offered a stark reminder of how the war has snarled a vital transit route for oil and gas supplies. Just eight vessels passed through the waterway over the weekend, Kpler, a maritime data-tracking firm, said on Monday, a trickle compared to the number of ships — sometimes more than 130 a day —that typically transited before the start of the Iran war.
Separately, the International Maritime Organization said about 500 commercial vessels and 11,000 seafarers remain stranded in the Persian Gulf because of the risk of attacks from Iranian forces.
CNN - Israel says schools will remain closed on Tuesday
“Tomorrow, we will enable a day for organization and reconnecting with students, with the intention of returning to frontal learning under a protected framework on Wednesday,” Israel’s Education Minister Yoav Kisch posted on X.
The planned school closure continues despite US President Donald Trump’s plea for Israel and Iran to stop “shooting.” The Israeli government announced late Sunday that schools would be closed across the country on Monday after the Israeli military intercepted incoming missiles from Iran. Remember: Tehran said earlier today it would suspend military operations against Israel but warned that attacks would resume if Israeli strikes continued, including in southern Lebanon.
One day of propaganda less for these poor children (though they surely get just as much at home or even more)
They're swimming in it, unfortunately.
Well, then one less day of academics that their propaganda-laden brains will have them use to murder and oppress their victims once they're old enough to do so. The less competent fascists are, the better.
The learning should resume when the fascist indoctrination stops.
Yet Iran has said they’ll stop firing missiles so long as Israel keeps its promise to Trump
The Guardian - US did not intercept Iranian missiles fired at Israel - official. Speaking to CNN on the condition of anonymity, a US official denied Israel’s claim that the US intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles launched at Israel overnight. It contradicts an Israeli military official who said earlier that the US helped Israel’s air defence efforts, including by intercepting some of the Iranian missiles.
In previous rounds of fighting, the US has acknowledged helping Israel shoot down Iranian missiles fired toward the country, making the denial unusual.
I haven't seen anyone else talk about this, so I'll do it myself: there is an ongoing lawfare campaign against the PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Español) in Spain and Pedro Sánchez’s government coalition, which in my opinion stems from NATO being incapable of tolerating even the most lukewarm pushback from Pedro Sánchez. Let me preface this comment by saying that I’m not a socdem and in no way do I have any love for the socdem neoliberal bourgeois government currently ruling Spain.
On the 19th of May, the ex-president of Spain and former president of the PSOE Jose Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (from now on ZP, read “zetapé”, th-eh-tah-peh) was called by the anti-corruption prosecution as investigated for possible corruption through influence abuse and self-enrichment in the decision of a COVID rescue fund to airline Plus Ultra in 2021.
This is the first time in the history of our “democracy” that a former president has been formally investigated for corruption. We had a literal amnesty law for all fascists in 1977 after the fascist dictatorship thanks to which all fascist bureaucrats could stay encroached to their institutions, but apparently this time it’s too much.
To be clear: the trials still haven’t ended, and there’s no known veredict as to whether there’s been any corruption by ZP. I honestly do not care, in 2026 the correct assumption is that all bourgeois regime parties are overtly corrupted, and to anybody surprised by this corruption case, as we say, “I have a motorbike to sell to you” (meaning don’t be naive). The point is not whether there’s corruption or not in an ex-president’s influence on COVID funds for private companies, the point is where this comes from, when this is happening, and why it’s incredibly relevant.
When the 2021 adjudication of the funds took place, the far-right parties already started a series of lawsuits against it, which ended up being closed due to lack of evidence of corruption. The investigation, however, turned out to be secretly reopened in 2024 after a tip from France and Switzerland. The far-right points to this as evidence that this isn’t just a lawfare of their making, with which I sadly have to agree: this case of lawfare is coming from NATO, not from local right wing parties. This makes it a lot more serious. The magic word “Venezuela” was additionally invoked, since the airline had flights to Venezuela and some of the higher ups appear to be Venezuelan citizens. For those who don’t know, Venezuela has been demonized for over a decade in Spanish media, and the slightest protest has received extensive coverage, as well as the accusations of state repression, of poverty, etc, never uttering a word about the measurable effect of the sanctions. Being linked to Venezuela here amounts to being linked to Satan.
Spanish socdem-voters are used already to extensive politicized use of the “justice” system by the right wing, opening all sorts of lawsuits usually started by the infamous Abogados Cristianos (Christian Lawyers Foundation) or Manos Limpias (Clean Hands, a far-right lawfare syndicate), may Allah forgive me for the links to NATOpedia. However, socdem belief in the purity and sacrosanctity of European institutions severely supports the public legitimacy of this lawfare case.
The final nail in the coffin is the fact that, as was published by El País (traiditionally socdem-aligned bourgeois media), none other than the unholy Department for Homeland Security of the Zionist States of America was providing evidence to the judge, which the media happily reported as “EE UU ya intervino en las sospechas sobre las operaciones de blanqueo de fondos vinculadas a los regímenes de Venezuela, Rusia e Irán”. Now we have the DHS directly tossing supposed evidence of a link between ZP and the axis of evil, which unfortunately has big power among socdem voters after the demonization of these countries.
My point isn’t that this lawfare case is fabricated, that the evidence linking ZP to corruption is false, or that the DHS manufactured the evidence (though that wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest). My point is that if DHS has evidence about corruption from the PSOE and is releasing it 1 year before the upcoming general elections, they absolutely, definitely, undoubtedly have shit on the overtly zionist right wing opposition leaders, such as the PP president Alberto Núñez Feijoó who previously appeared in pictures on a yacht with famous Galician narc cartel leaders. Choosing not to release similar investigations and evidence against the others directly points to election interference.
The timing is no coincidence. The target is no coincidence as Pedro Sánchez has been the only EU leader to reject the 5% GDP expenditure in militarism and has recently returned from his trip to China to further economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries. NATO is so far down fascism that it will simply not tolerate the slightest, most lukewarm push against their genocidal agenda coming from a milquetoast Eurosocdem, and this level of interference in Spanish politics in such a publicly relevant and media-amplified corruption case is not to be taken lightly. This may very well be the final nail in the coffin ensuring the total victory of a far-right coalition in Spain in next year’s elections, which will have 0 intention of furthering relations with China and will condemn the country to plummeting with the rest of the EU and bring institutional Zionism to unprecedented heights.
Yeah it's grim. I think the one slender hope is that Sanchez is the kind of guy who will do basically anything to seize the initiative. He's very very unlikely to disown NATO ofc, but I can definitely imagine him airing all this in public, running with a 'lawfare, election interference' narrative. Furthermore, the worse NATO comes off, the more PSOE votes peel off to the far left parties, which could help the block as a whole. But yeah, we're pretty screwed lol, lmao
Iran has announced the end of its current wave of retaliatory strikes against Israel. Trump again claims negotiations are proceeding. Iran has maintained it is open to a deal and says it is Trump who has prevented it for the past 3 weeks.
The current focus for Iran centers on two primary issues: Ending the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and unfreezing Iranian assets as a condition for any deal.
The Iranian military suggested today that regarding Lebanon, the red line is not just halting Israeli attacks on Beirut, but ending the attacks on the south entirely. The Iranian military said today, "if the aggressions and evils continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures will be on the way."
Iran has also said that as a condition for any MOU with Trump/US, a substantial amount of its assets must be repatriated. Trump keeps insisting that he will not do this.
If there is progress on these issues, Iran has said it is open to resuming the negotiations on an MOU. The ball remains in Trump's court and Iran still believes it holds significant leverage. Trump keeps deluding himself into believing Iran will capitulate. The reality has been clear for weeks: A deal will only happen if Trump makes concessions on Iran's core demands. Without a doubt, Trump's people are trying to find a way to hide these potential concessions and explore secret tracks to meet Iran's conditions while preserving his fictitious "victory" narrative.
