imo it makes total sense. the guy you want doing any particular job that's editorially sensitive for the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and their global hegemonic death state is going to be the highest skilled guy that is a true believer. shari redstone, clearly more interested in the more tactful defense of liberal fascism. the ellisons need a guy that is beyond that pale, a trump guy. they needed bari weiss, and pelley is a true believer in being a good liberal defender of the establishment. so he has to go. that the line pelley believes in doesn't exist is almost immaterial to the considerations.
