And we hung out after work yesterday and he rolled me the fattest fucking blunt ever.

He literally said: "Aye mon, pass me da dutchie"

Anyway, I get where he's coming from.

Personally I associate Jamaica with jerk chicken and other jerked meats :3

He's not a weed guy, he's just a guy that smokes weed.

Nah I get it too. It's annoying even if it's true.

It's annoying when you're associated with a thing because it's like "Ok yeah, but I'm not just that. Don't reduce me to just weed guy"

Ye, it is.

they also have the best sports movie of all time

I am torn on if The Sandlot or Little Giants is second place.

That's fair but at least weed is a cool thing

if my culture's food was that good i'd want it to get more recognition too

Vegan patties bby

I could go for some jerk chicken right now.

Jamaican curry goat is S tier

I used to live near this Tamil bar and restaurant that served really good goat curry. Used to be my number one place to bring tinder dates, got me laid like a half dozen times.

I tried making some recently and it was shit. I'm in Peru and I had to substitute so many ingredients. They just don't have what you need. Honestly, try finding allspice. Made me sad 😭

do you have scotch bonnet peppers down there? that's the killer here in the us, i had to literally grow my own to get the right flavor (1000% worth it though those things are incredible)

There are none, alas. In fact, spicy chillies are hard to come by, full-stop.

when you get ahold of some you could always save the seeds and try growing your own chilis, they're nice neat little shrubs that don't really need much special treatment

Well I won't be here for long. I'll be back in the UK soon. Can't wait to eat some spicy food again

They don't have pimienta dulce in perú? I would have thought you can get that anywhere

I'm sure it's somewhere, but in the time I've been here in the capital I've been unable to find it.

You can't find allspice? In the entirety of peru?? Really surprising but honestly I think you'd be fine just using cloves and maybe a little nutmeg or something

Ive got a recipe at work for a jerk sauce that turns out pretty good but i'm not going back there for 3 months

P.s. i think your problem is an instance of there being local non English names for stuff, the Google lying machine claims in Peru allspice is called pimienta dulce or pimienta chapa so maybe look for those

I'll try again. I'm in Lima, the capital, and I basically spent a whole day looking for it

If you cant get allspice it's a fools errand. Its essential. You can maybe get the components tho, its a blend

Allspice is a specific plant. It's called allspice not because it's a blend containing a bunch of spices, but because the dried unripe berries of the tree taste like a bunch of spices.

I stand corrected.

Me as a kid playing Oregon Trail: "The general store has so many different kinds of spices and I can't choose, I'll just pick this one called all-spice"

As the other person said, it's actually a single plant. In Spanish is called pimento de Jamaica. Sadly I've been unable to find it, and the suggested work around of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves was absolute dogshit

me but with canadians and the brooklyn accent

I'm walkin' here, eh?

That's actually a thing? I'm Canadian and never knew people imagine us with Brooklyn accents

I just think Canadians and people from New York smoke copious amounts of weed

Nope, never heard of this either, just sounds funny to me. I imagine all North American accents sound samey to euros though.

Nah we sort you into "Southern" and "Not"

i assume he is coming from the left hand side
