I will never forget that piece of shit Matthew Miller shedding a tear for the poor children of Ukraine during the Russian Invasion and then shrugging and effectively saying " its war stuff happens" when confronted with the horrific massacre of children in Gaza by the Zionist regime.

The Empire is bipartisan.

Not surprising most people who downvoted this is a .world user and piefed.world users

This is awesome never stop posting

this whole community is pure liberal rage bait isn’t it? I am not complaining but you guys really do like to trigger

We're gonna start cracking down on the rage-bait posting a little bit.

Honestly a bit of bait is good. I have enjoyed reading the discussions that emerged in some of those threads. I see this post for what it is: bait. You could make less provocative posts but even then some people just want to read it as tankie propaganda.

Maybe we should create a community called "tankie memes" for when you do want to go all out and trigger people

Some of the bait can be nice, but in my opinion I think we lean too far into the bait and too far into "dunking." This isn't a condemnation based on civility politics, but a rational desire to focus on higher quality posts and comments for onlookers. Being as edgy as possible can spark constructive conversation in the comments, but constructive conversation can also happen with good agitprop that has a convincing argument within the meme itself.

Seems to mostly be jank doing it for the rage bait, pre-jank it was definitely more pro-communist but less rage bait focused. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not how I would do it either.

i've had the same thought before. lol

lemmy need reactions for things this lit

In my opinion, war is always full of crime. You can have crime without war, but you can't have war without crime. If by "war crime" you mean Geneva convention, nobody follows that, either.

The winner prosecutes the loser, no exceptions.

This is the rhetoric western imperialists use to normalise their atrocities

Every time I see such memes, I remind myself that lemmy.ml is blocked in:

  • China (including Hong Kong)

  • Iran

  • North Korea

It is currently unblocked in:

  • The United States

  • Israel (and Palestine)

  • Ukraine

  • EU

  • Pretty much the rest of the world

  • Russia

Though I worry about Russia, as they've already blocked Bluesky and at least one part of the fediverse: https://lemmy.world/post/14156170

(And FYI I checked these regions myself, with a VPN, and then when another external tool, just now).

Cool story

Check yourself. Go to any IP tester or http resolver, or try your own VPN.

Because blocking web sites is worse than bombing civilians for decades, right?

Because lemmy.ml federates with the broader Lemmyverse. So if instances like .world is blocked, that same content is visible on .ml so it's blocked too.

Defederate from us and we might have a chance.

As of this post, Lemmy.world is not blocked in China. Neither is piefed.social.

But lemmy.ml is blocked in China.

What is your point?

In response to:

lemmy.ml was not blocked because of lemmy.world. Or other federated instances, as far as I can tell through testing a few.

.ml was blocked because the .ml domain was blocked due to it being a free domain mostly used for spam (although I'm sure some groups/sites have petitioned and had their non spam sites unblocked). Also things being blocked by the firewall doesn't really mean much on a personal level when we all have a VPN. You clearly don't understand the purpose of the firewall.

My question is why bring it up in the first place?

Don't really see how that matters.

Because that moose account loves to deflect?

Don’t really see how that matters.

In other words, it's... unfortunate, but necessary?

No?

Tell me that you dont understand anything of world politics without telling me that you dont understand anything of world politics.

Top tier meme lumping Russia with Palestine

Where do you see jankforlife's pronouns?

Fangirl is gender neutral. But if you prefer fanperson I’m fine with it. Stop distracting from the topic that this person spams this feed with pro war propaganda

No? Girl is a clearly gendered term. I also don't see how this is a "pro-war" meme.

No, it’s a stylistic piece in wording. But I get your confusion.

Watch the recent history of OPs posts. It’s Pro Russian Spam.

No, it’s a stylistic piece in wording.

Bullshit hall of fame entry right here

Lol, there is literally nothing pro-Russian about this. It has a Russian flag with the implication that liberals see anything Russia does as a war crime even if the same kind of (or worse) atrocities committed by the US are deemed "unfortunate but necessary." In other words, you don't even have to accept that Russia isn't committing war crimes to recognize the truth of the double standard the meme is pointing out. You are a prime example of the kind of dingus this meme is making fun of.

You, a liberal glimpsing a hint of reality for once in their western-propaganda-saturated life: "Russian Propaganda! [misgendering and/or homophobia]! Putin disinformatzia! [Racism!]" You haven't gotten to the racism part yet, but the thread is young. Here, I'll help you along by explaining some facts for you: Russia entered an ongoing civil war and put a stop to the ethnic cleansing that the Nazi Ukrainian government was perpetrating against Ukraine's eastern population who desperately wanted help from Russia. Fortunately, Russia entering the conflict prevented many more war crimes from being committed by the fascist Kiev regime.

Edit to add because this is just funny:

Accounts shouldn’t be allowed to post more than twice a day in the same community

What a great way to stymie a community and cut down on the thing we all hate: content. Your inability to understand how the world works seems to extend even to the fundamentals of internet forums.

You really believe that Ukraine is a Nazi regime, and you accuse others for falling for propaganda? Yikes

the american congress tried banned weapons sales to ukraine because of its nazis proclivities in 2015; how are you slower than congress on this?

Yes, and I believe it because I have been following what has been happening in Ukraine since well before February of 2022. The fact that you are unaware of this fact (even one recognized by western media before the SMO) is what is yikes. Thanks to u/freagle for providing some of the mountains of evidence demonstrating beyond all doubt that the Kiev regime is literally a Nazi regime, the most openly Nazi state regime in the world, in fact.

It's a meme community. People will post more frequently here.

So you think 5 political propaganda posts in 10minutes by the same Person are good for the climate inside the community? Brave…

Girl is one of the most gendered terms, and calling someone who's gender is unclear or otherwise not explicitly feminine a "fangirl" draws on misogynistic perceptions.

Either way, I don't think it's unknown that OP is pro-Russian, but I don't see how that translates to being pro-war.

Maybe it’s a language thing, I don’t wanna discuss this because this is not what my comment was about.

By repeating Russian propaganda and lies that was used to justify attacking Ukraine, bombing hospitals and killing civilians.

What lies are being repeated? It's definitely pro-Russian, but what is the lie?

You're both right - it is a gendered noun, it is a genderless verb. The line has become blurred between the two distinctions, and 'fangirl' is often used as a genderless noun as well. "I am a [thing] fangirl" is a common phrasing online irrespective of gender.

And the term itself relies on misogyny. Just because a word can be used in a certain fashion does not mean it should be.
