I think this is what people used to do before they were zoned out on their phone for hours on end, and it surely helped their sanity.
I kinda hate using my phone when I am home. Technology is awesome, but tech companies have become a blight on humanity that somehow manages to get more malignant every single year.
Okay I know there's such a thing as frozen soup, but it still looks bizarre AF to suggest thawing out soup when it usually comes in a can.
People ITT missing the point. Productivity isn't the goal. Some people struggle with getting things done, but when you frame it as "small tasks that don't matter" it can be easier to handle.

Im missing the point of your comment, either productivity isn't the goal or it is. If the point is making tasks easier to handle, that's a productivity goal.
The goal is small tasks, productivity is a byproduct. It's a framing issue.
Okay but small productivity is productivity, you're disagreeing with OP which is fine but you're not getting what OP is saying either.
Frame it however you want, you're concerned with getting the small tasks done. That's not what OP is saying.
I did not disagree with OP.
Making food
Cleaning
Paying bills
Crazy to say this isn't being productive, just because you're not getting yelled at by middle management or sucked into hour long office meetings during it.
Yeah, it definitely is being productive to get things done that either must be done or help your mental state.
I took it to mean the goal isn't productivity, not that "puttering" isn't productive.
Everything on the list sounds productive, just not performed under pressure or threat.
But sometimes it helps if you don't think of them as Chores on a List
This is basically homemaker.exe
All the described puttering examples are productive, but only for yourself, which The Man has convinced us isn't actual productivity.
I always describe it as cozifying the house. Making it cozy and livable
I've never heard anyone say puttering instead of pottering, but my dictionary tells me that the u version is the original, US version.
Im from the US and never heard the word puttering in my life, nor pottering for that matter
TIL pottering is a word
I call it putzing, but sure
Today I pulled the agitator off my 50s era washing machine to clean under it so I can do my laundry, I sprayed some rainwater over the wild-grow area of my lawn to hopefully give it a boost, and I cleaned the toilet.
I'm still puttering around but have yet to soup it up.
oh my god I just realized mid sentence I've only eaten a single cookie since Sunday and I am starving...
You need to soup up your puttering, by which I mean making and eating soup! Or something more snacky and portable so you'll actually eat it. Also good on you for a very productive morning!
this is my ideal state of existence. unfortunately, I hardly ever have the time.
My default state of existence.
