Anon should probably put down the crack pipe...

He would go to jail, it would make the logistics of the program much easier.

I am actually now surprised they did not push for something like that to save money.

Viewership would probably drop, and the product placement embedded in the show that funded the whole program would be difficult to do in jail.

If the modern Internet has taught me anything, anything can be sponsored and embedded.

Much like today's jail sponsor NordVPN. Ever feel like you can't access anything because of where you live? That's because some sites lock you in. With NordVPN, you can experience the internet the way it was meant to be by forwarding your connection to anywhere in the world. Use code 'TRUMAN26' for the first month free.

The Truman Show didn't have commercial breaks or ad reads. People in his environment may speak highly of a product (sometimes to a suspicious degree), but they only spoke to people inside the simulation. The products had to naturally fit into his environment.

Just like this new double headed toilet brush, the Goug-O-Matic Pro 3000 Plus fits naturally into the male urethra. Look how naturally it slides in and latches on, allowing for one to relieve one's bladder and clean around the house!

What I'm saying is that the show would have evolved to do more ads.

I feel the actual answer is the show would have simply made sure no children were ever anywhere near Truman. They controlled every aspect of his life, after all.

They also raised him. It's not like sexual predators just appear out of nowhere.

"Say what you like about Christof, at least he didn't molest Truman as a kid, leading to him becoming a sexual oredator himself."

I know it was typo, but the mental image of a sexual orator pleased me greatly, "Four score and, how You doin'?!"

Imagine if he was a sexual orabator all lookin in the mirror like oh yeah you like that beard don’t you oh what you want I should take off this hat General Lee mmm (strokes beard) call me Mr President then well talk meet u at appopatjx nnngh

That really was an interesting movie

The craziest thing is that it's not based on a book. Ths cultural capital of the 90s absolutely baffles me - so many profound but original movies! For a good 7-10 years, Hollywood wasn't Hollywood'ing

And they didn't try to make some stupid sequel, even though it was a big money maker. Amazing!

Yes a sequel would be such a crap idea, but I would love to see the concept explored more in depth. A good ol' TV series would have worked, or a book

The level of risk Hollywood is willing to take on today is very low due to streaming. There is more competition for people's attention and money.

They would rather take an IP that they know is popular than to take a risk on something unknown.
