Forgotten memory unlocked. When I was pretty young, I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. They got me in the chair, hooked up the heart monitor, and went about prepping whatever it is they prep. I was listening to the beeping and wondered if I could slow it down, so I tried to relax and focus on slowing the beep; I was really pleased with myself when it worked. So I decided to try making it go faster. I tried to make myself feel really anxious, and the beeping got faster.

I was having the best time, trying to see if I could go from one speed to the other quickly when the nurse came in and said "Are you doing that?" I was suddenly worried that I was doing something bad, and I hesitated before answering. Her eyebrows were all scrunched together and she said "Are you making your heartbeat go up and down?" I sheepishly said yes, and she just looked at me. Finally she said, "Well... please stop."
