Electricity explained
(midwest.social)
(midwest.social)
I didn't understand anything and now I'm horny. Did I do a science?
Horny is biology, which is chemistry, which is physics. You triple scienced.
is this how they teach electricity on Pornhub/rule34.xxx?
Same artist draws about computer science too btw.
I like UDP
I learned so much from this graphic
... I might finally learn how networking works
Welcome to the boyz club. barf.
Hey, how did you know?
Dear artists stop creating things that make me want to furiously masturbate
Please don't* stop
Half of artists I talked to started drawing, because they wanted to draw porn tailor-made for their tastes.
I still don't understand this. But I'm not upset about that fact.
The hydraulic analogy is better (accuracy-wise)
I absolutely love the the hydraulic analogy, and my advancing age and the 'tism compels me to share a story.
I was a science major and worked as a tutor through college. Intermediate physics was required for all science degrees, so basic electrical theory consistently came up.
What I love about the analogy is it's actually not perfectly analogous, but the differences become obvious once the initial concepts are understood, then those differences help students figure it all out. Its imperfection is actually what makes it perfect, and my nerdy side just loves that kind of stuff.
The students that argued with me the most about how it was a shit analogy were my favorite because they'd so frequently knock it out of the park come exam time. It was like the academic equivalent of hate fucking.
Is this a gas leak year meme? ew
Why the tire
The gif is made from a Low Buck Garage video where he's working on his WW2 era 6x6 truck. The part he's staring at is the hole where the axle slots through the tire and into the differential.
This clip is taken shortly after he attempts to put the rear axle back in and he discovers that the gears in the rear most differential are no longer aligned with the hole, he shortly after this clip describes the process for what it takes to get into the rear most differential and it's an ordeal.
He does come up with a plan though.
If you're into vehicle restoration videos he's got a great channel. He's also got a great sense of humor about the stuff he works on and the processes involved.
This is good, but it would have been nice if the symbols were more consistent. Like Volt gets a lightning bolt on her thigh... Cool. Ohm, while the sexiest in my opinion, gets an Ω on her shirt. So the under boob is great, but it's really that smile. Finally, Amp. What going on here? Those ruddy cheeks are awesome. The rope is pretty cool too even if it's not my thing. But where's her symbol? I don't particularly want to imagine a scarlet letter A.
Honestly, the inconsistency was a bit turn off.
Well... If you made it this far and think I'm missing the point, I hope you now realize I'm just taking the piss.
Volt has a view of Amp's symbol...
Butt... I want to see.
😯
Electrical watersports are not safe
The safety is dependent on ohms law, so the infographic is still useful
Even if none of it makes sense the infographic can be of use
It's a very handy reminder to keep around
Help me step-volt, I’m stuck!
What are you doing volt-san!?
Damn I’d gotten a A+ or F+ if I was Electrical Engineering courses. Sex not only sells but also educates at a decent amount of topics.
I learned trig from a pornstar sitting on a stool with nothing but flash cards and socks on. Yes her clothes were flash cards yes it was a game, yes I was horny enough to ace my trig exams. No I don’t remember the name of the game, I’m sorry.
I'm certain a fair number of people have learned some basic chemistry from Dr. Doe...
try to remember the sauce for your trig comrades
Now I want to see them explaining the fractional hall effect
::: spoiler Spoiler I have no idea how much of this information is slop. I think it's funny that ChatGPT made a decent attempt at this.
You can downvote if you want, meatbags, but I think it's funny.
Also, it wouldn't let me make them scantily clad. :::
I mean it's not the explanation - I would've expected girls to resemble Laughlin's wavefunction - but still it's cool! It got the Wikipedia page right
I'm sure a lot of semiconductors can be explained via "Help, step bro, I am stuck!"
i am more confused
It's a reference to this image that has been shared in so many different schools around the world:
Current (measured in amperes, or amp) is the flow of charge. emf (volts) is the energy supplied to a circuit per coulomb of charge (coulombs being the unit of charge. Current is coulombs per second). Resistance (measured with ohms) restricts the flow of charge (conductors have low resistivity, insulators are high. Resistance increases with length and decreases with crosd-sectional area)
Ohm's law is V = IR (or, with current isolated, I = V / R)
How so?
Oi! How did you manage to steal this fine artwork from Michael Faraday's secret lab books? They're kept under lock and key at the Royal ~~Society~~ Institution!!
Edit: correction.
*Royal Institution
Faraday's lab was at the RI.
This image looks very different from the last time I saw it
Instructions unclear. Currently waiting in ER with a lightbulb up my ass and it's not lighting up!
Uncle Fester!!!
Thing be like
🤚🤌🫵👊?
🫰👌!
After all this time, i finally understand
That is more confusing for me.
I'll stick to the river analogy
I still don't understand, but now I'm a lot more interested in learning.
It helps to think of it in terms of water flow. Resistance is the size of the pipe, volts is the water pressure, and amps is the flow rate.
Although resistance is an inverse relationship to pipe size (the higer the resistance, the smaller the pipe).
This image is replacing the water analogy with anime women.
Your way made way more sense
I find the Reddit/Lemmy/Etc fascination with cartoons of young girls deeply creepy. They’re everywhere. How many pathetic pedo virgins are actually out there? Apparently many.
I do too but non of the above actually look young like the creepy stuff. I'd place them in their mid 20s
you don't get out much do you?
most every society is obsessed with youth and sex. when i the last time you saw a billboard with a sexy 70 year old advertising you something?
It’s specifically because I get out much, and am in a very long-term relationship with an actual woman that I find the idea of sexualizing cartoon images rather odd, especially when they’re very often images of children, even if not in this specific case.
I mean, there’s a discussion above of jerking off to cartoons, but I’m the one who doesn’t get out much. Keep jerkin’ it homie.
Ph , ampere waifu, let minute me be your voltage simp!
Oh, now I (unironically) get it...
Mine is "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean."
Why'd you pick yours, specifically? Lol
That is very educational, more than I was hoping for. Thank you!
I've heard that saying over and over throughout my life, too, (by laymen, never actual electricians lol) and I was always confused by it.
I was always trying to think "Okay is there some crazy high-voltage-low-amperage shock source you can sustain and be fine?" I guess I thought the difference was between something like, a taser vs. a home electrical socket.
Is the survivability of shocks mainly in how much resistance there is in the body? Like if the volts get backlogged enough they become amps -> generate heat -> "fry" what they're passing through?
I really need to revisit electrical education. Especially because I wanna make neat gadgets...😅
But yeah it sounds like the saying is pedantic, like "It's not the fall that kills you. It's the impact."
Something obvious to utter in a way that makes you sound deep and profound to dumb people. LOL
Kind of, but they are misunderstanding the saying. It refers to the fact that if the available supply of current (maybe it should say power?) is sufficiently limited, it is possible for a person's body to conduct hundreds of thousands to millions of volts without pain or injury.
That said, high voltage behaves different and there are a lot of factors that make it unsafe.
The message is lost on me
Volts give the push. Amps are the actual flow (charge per second). Ohms try to prevent the amps from flowing (technically restricting the charges from flowing).
Ohms try to prevent the amps from flowing
Why is Ohms such a bitch? Let her flow.
Cause Amps can be a serious bitch when she really gets going, you've got to keep her in check.
She gets too hot, melts stuff, starts fires
College girlfriend flashbacks.
So should I just tie a rope to my wife? For when she really gets going?
Was that the plot of Black Snake Moan?
Oh... She's pushing her. It makes more sense now.
The explanation makes a lot more sense if you already understand what is being explained
...if you already have some understanding of what is being explained. This did clarify it a bit more to me!
Oh I understand Ohm's law, I just throught the picture was yellow fisting green while the resistor (2.1 kΩ?) held her in place.
Don't you fist people when you try to get them moving?
I thought Ohm was tightening the waist, like a corset, so Amp could get through. But, maybe I was distracted.
If you are not a teen I recomend some therapy
Do tell us more about what people should think and feel to qualify as adults from your perspective. Only because, up to now, nobody asked.
The dude could be bombing iran but nooo, he decided to stay here with us, shitposting. Thank you for your service OP
