LMAO. The timing of this is extra funny.

That meme so old Xi looked very young, plus all the jpegs it has

the mold is an attestation to how relevant it is

I really really want to create one of these for Kier Starmer. I'll probably be correct soon but I've had that idea for over a year.

The biggest SCAM of the car industry ?

BYD is also making these beautiful buses that are popular in cities around the world that are transitioning to cleaner energy.

Various cities are investing in these, for example in the Nordics where they can be tested in extreme cold conditions.

.world users mald incredibly after seeing affordable Chinese public transit transportation modes

I see Yutong buses more frequently but any chinese electric bus is cool especially when they break containment and pop up outside chinese borders

They're here in the Netherlands too, I've been on them often. Inside I find them to be a bit noisy as the frame creaks here and there. We also have electric buses by Yutong and the first time I rode one I felt transported to the future, best bus I've ever been on.

The BYD ones definitely have a comical amount of creaking plastic. Makes me wonder how long those interiors last.

doesn't look like the "fall" to me

It's a little more complicated: their sales in China (blue in the graph below) started declining midway through 2025, mainly due to competition from other Chinese EV brands. Meanwhile sales overseas (yellow) are increasing, but not enough to make up for the cratering sales in China.

So now you're getting bizarre initiatives like a partnership with KFC for "charge and eat" service stations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHfhQtEpkG0

Could this be the key to getting Americans to electrify? We could even integrate fried chicken into other socially positive behaviours like taking the bus or recycling.

The was right there.

I think if my apartment complex's recycling bin had a chicken bucket, I would be tempted to put more things there instead of the river.

Yanks could integrate a deep frier in the glove box and electric cars would skyrocket over night

Well see since the growth is no longer exponential this means it's a total and complete failure or something. I dunno I think companies should make goods rather than profit margin but I'm not an economist

Given how 2026 is going so far I expect the growth will pick back up again. With a combination of rapidly growing charging infra, falling battery prices and the Iran war, EVs are honestly the only rational choice if you need a car right now. Then again maybe more and more people (outside NA) will recognize that they don't need a car at all 🤷

LOL funny, I'm probably going to pick up a BYD Dolphin Mini at the local dealership here in the next few weeks because my car is dying

A scam now is when they enter the car market of my country with electric cars so cheap and so good they literally force other brands to actually try? Got it lol.

It's been a while since I checked, but until BYD and GWM entered the market here at least, big car brands were still selling manual cars, without AC and with windows with crank handles, because apparently it was "too expensive" for all of them to do that to the more popular car models.

That describes my country too. I'm now a proud owner of a GWM car and won't ever go back to combustion.

Apparently BYD has a dealership in Philadelphia? Like why? I thought we couldn’t buy their cars in the US

If you're not joking it seems like it's entirely unrelated to the Chinese BYD. Also we can buy chinese cars we just have to pay the 100% Joe Biden tariff

they don't have NHTSA certification which makes them illegal to operate on public roads

Connected vehicle ban and national security rules

Here’s a newer twist: the Department of Commerce’s “Connected Vehicles Rule,” effective January 2025. It bans import or sale of vehicles containing Chinese-origin software or data systems—think Huawei chips, ADS, or infotainment modules. Roughly 90% of Chinese electric cars fall into this category. The logic? National security. The government doesn’t want your car phoning home to Shenzhen. Even used EVs built after 2020 risk being flagged under these restrictions. Only stripped-down, low-tech models—like neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs)—might sneak past. But forget using them on highways; they’re limited to about 25 mph (40 km/h).

Swap vins with a Tesla

Doesn't the ceo of GM or something drive one though or is he not driving it on public roads

He drives a Xiaomi SU7, iirc.

Oh that sounds more right

the big auto makers probably have special waivers they can get, afaik there isn't a way for plebs to do it or I would have

They can get them for “testing purposes”.

all cars are a scam, gtfo

I wish I could have a BYD but I also don’t have any intent to replace my 2011 car unless it totally fails

Mine arrived last week :)

Today is a glorious days the youtube comments is not 99% garbage.
