Moebius once said any Hergé panel could be a poster by itself and it's hard not to agree.

Funny, I first heard these guys' names in a totally different context, before ever seeing the detectives. There used to be a successful British pop band in the early-mid 80's named the Thomson Twins, and I didn't start reading the albums until '85-86.

This was their biggest hit:

Personally, I think it's one of the scarcer songs from that era that still holds up pretty well today. It's also a lot of fun to sing as karaoke!

oh yeah Thompson Twins had a bunch of hits: Doctor Doctor, Lay Your Hands, King for a Day, Love On Your Side, Lies... I had to look up a couple of those songs to make sure it was really them, but I can totally remember how they go. There was a lot of good New Wave back then.

Totally. Flock of Seagulls and OMD were a couple others. There was an energy and innovation to that stuff that I really enjoyed at times, even though in retrospect it might be considered 'fluff' or less serious / edgy. Same with the Bee Gees and some of the Disco-era stuff.

To me a good song is a good song, however its trappings.

Like two or three years ago I decided to listen to the Flock of Seagull albums; I'd heard the hits ofc, but not the other songs. Turns out they have a lot of great album songs and b-sides. Unfortunately after the third album the guitarist left and the lead singer guy kept at it but couldn't maintain the quality.

Oof, and unfortunately that's always how it goes there, right?

Oh shit, I just figured out their song that I REALLY liked. Here is it:

Uh, Sergio, if you have a chance in your explorations upon FoS songs, could you please lend me some of your recs as you discover them?

Thanks! I certainly liked that second one. I would have guessed it as OMD or... someone I can't remember right now... if I didn't know better.

Those crazy detectives kinda freaked me out when I was a kid. Sure they were funny but there was something creepily surreal about them. Can you imagine how they view the world? Everything probably looks like AI slop to them.
