Bosch made in West Germany

I now wear sweaters and polo shirts fully sourced from Europe, including the cotton. They're really nice, too, the quality is amazing.

Which ones are they?

These ones: https://trendsplant.com/

Provide some links pls? :)

Of course: https://trendsplant.com/

In whose world does a boycott of American goods equal "buy European"? The world is bigger than 2 continents

Likely that the sub is called 'Buy European'.

Yeah, but it's such a dumb impulse that I'd have expected it from an American. As a European it makes me cringe

I feel its more a quirk of the internet, in how things naturally get divided. When browsing the web, you've likely found websites you never heard prior that are really big in other countries. Things just happen to be separated by regions, languages, etc. for purposes of relevance and accessibility.

In our space, things are largely dominated by European and North American influences. Once you cutout the whole USA from that, it's effectively Canada and Europe in this grouping too. I remember back when I was on Reddit, I saw 'Buy Canadian' quite a lot, just seems 'Buy European' is slightly more dominant on Lemmy.

Got my old PC from 2011 working again, had loads of RAM at the time and runs pretty well now. Put it in the loft and installed proxmox on it. Am now using remote-backups.com from Germany as a remote backup :) for a load of services.

Does abandoning steaming/live services and starting with self-hosting count?

Kitchen stuff from WMF! Saved so much money and good quality!

Moved my email from iCloud to Proton. For the next step, it would be great if Proton Calendar started supporting (recurring) tasks.

It does. As in; each other week for example. With start/end date or number of occurrences. Or do you mean something different?

I mean the way Apple implemented Reminders in Calendar. Tasks that recur every (week/month/3rd saturday of the month and so on) that I can check off and then the next one appears, etc.

I’m enjoying Qobuz

I also gave it a try, but had to cancel my plans to switch due to limited music selection and playlists lacking folders.

I am currently trialing Deezer, so I guess that still counts. Also can't do folders for playlists, but basically all my music transferred over.

I switched to DeepL

I too switched to DeepL. Also doing the trial period of kagi.com search. Probably gonna buy the "family" plan for me and my dad.

Keep in mind Kagi is US-American though.

Good point, I forgot where I was commenting on.

At the moment I'm doing most of my searches with Ecosia (yeah I know, they use bing and google, but at least they are German and planting trees), its only when Ecosia fails, I switch to Kagi. At this rate it will probably take me a year to run out of the 100 free searches that are included in the trial.

Got myself a Tuxedo Aura 14 which I'm enjoying.

Also, kinda, just bought four vinyls of Wardruna (Norwegian band) from a Swedish store.

same here, switched to DeepL; then switched to Mistral AI.

Subscribed to inlinestyle.it and have been able to actually use on a daily basis a good 40/50% of the services included in the subscription. Primarily email, personal website, photos, docs and notes. But I also enjoy some PeerTube channels there from time to time.

I just checked their services and while it seems great, the volumes are a bit small, aren't they? I host Immich myself and my collection uses about 90GB. Are the 10 given there enough for you?

Switched to Aliasvault from Nordpass if that is considered a win

Motorcycle tools for on the road. Both dutch and german. Love them

Which brands please?

Good question :)

German: wera. They are super nice in the workshop and everywhere . Colour coded , super comfortable, smart stuff really. For the bike I got a small “motorcycle” toolkit. With sockets and bits, tiny spanner, etc.

Dutch: eastbound. specific tools for fixing tyres . Lightweight wrench for the backwheel nut (34) and to get the tire off the rim. Very clever designed.

PixelUnion to save my photos and Euria for AI

I just moved all my photos from Google to Ente to get them out of the US... How's Euria?
